Global Character Guides - Ness

Hello, all! For those that don't know me, I'm Virg. I moderate things. I'm also in charge of the newly founded Discussion Leader group and I had an idea sprout in my head not too long ago.

Every individual character board is quite different and many are truly contrasting. Seeing as how I'm tasked with encouraging discussion and help throughout the boards, I thought that maybe encouraging some similar layouts on each board would help new people (or board hermits) that eventually strolled into other boards. Not that they would get lost, but just that it would be easier and the process alone would be gratifying.

So with that, I'm here for a proposition (not of that kind!): a reformatting and update of the character guide, if it needs one. I see a lot of good threads. I'm impressed, actually: you guys keep everything decently updated. If you guys wanted to help it would probably be discussing the Ness matchup with other character boards. But I digress.

So for those of you that don't want to read: I would like to try to get every character board to clean up and organize their character board guides/stickies. Some are fine as is. Others...not so much. I'm asking this for a shot of dialogue and cross communication throughout the boards as well as making the stickies less cluttersome.

So, what do you guys say? This is all voluntary. Just wanted to try to spruce the boards up a bit. If you have any opinions or questions, I'd be happy to hear them

Is there any way we could make battle request threads mandatory? We need a way to battle specific characters and test are skills against our bad match-ups. I know Wi-fi isn't perfect, but I think it would be helpful.

If you guys want, I can talk to the other character boards and try to get them to help you out, whether in the match up itself or in playing with you guys over wifi/etc. All up to you guys

Well, maybe if we could condense some of the threads and combine them. A prime example would be intergrating the Ness Video thread with the critique thread. That way, videos of new players could be submitted easily and critiqued in the same place...

I'm cool with whatever people see as in the best interests of the board. As soon as we reach a consensus, I'll be happy to assist in whatever restructuring is needed.

tourney results and power ranking in one thread would be nice, but it could lead to a big buildup of pages to try and read through to find a video.

maybe a combo thread where people submit/ask about possible combos to be tested, then sort them into true combos, DI-able, and common strings of attacks that people get caught in. we might have this something like this already, but just in case, we should check into this. there have been a lot of different new posts asking/telling about combos that ness has.

and instead of having a ton of separate matchup threads, could we have just one big one to discuss within the character section? then we could discuss one character at a time against everyone and re-discuss later for ones that people disagree on (put something like an asterisk by the matchups that are being severely questioned).

@ 1337-Zero: My brother did that himself. Words are just a pile of bias opinions when it comes to match ups. Playing another person would prove something. For example, is Ness really that easy to gimp? People would say yes, but could they prove that? We'd need some top players, though, to see how things work out. I'm looking at you, Earthbound360, ViceGrip, Chrono_Cross and Shaky. And FOW if he's even here. The reason I'm only bringing these people up are because they're really good. And because of that, it'd give other players a run for their money.

Because wifi sucks. I have given up trying to play on it. I just get frustrated cause I end up messing up on simple things cause my internet connection sucks :@

on topic though, sounds good. I always thought our ness boards stickies etc were well put, but idk about other boards :o
