Hello, all! For those that don't know me, I'm Virg. I moderate things. I'm also in charge of the newly founded Discussion Leader group and I had an idea sprout in my head not too long ago.

Every individual character board is quite different and many are truly contrasting. Seeing as how I'm tasked with encouraging discussion and help throughout the boards, I thought that maybe encouraging some similar layouts on each board would help new people (or board hermits) that eventually strolled into other boards. Not that they would get lost, but just that it would be easier and the process alone would be gratifying.

So with that, I'm here for a proposition (not of that kind!): a reformatting and update of the character guide, if it needs one. I see that you guys run a very tight ship here and that's good! I see all the good threads...and they seem to remain updated. You guys are pretty good as is and probably wouldn't have to do too much other than maybe compact things. But I digress.

So for those of you that don't want to read: I would like to try to get every character board to clean up and organize their character board guides/stickies. Some are fine as is. Others...not so much. I'm asking this for a shot of dialogue and cross communication throughout the boards as well as making the stickies less cluttersome.

So, what do you guys say? This is all voluntary. Just wanted to try to spruce the boards up a bit

If you have any questions, please ask away.

Sounds like an offer we can't refuse. The Ganon boards could use a small clean-up, remove a couple of stickies for instance.. And yeah, the main guide definitely needs a thorough cleaning.

Yeah, you guys wouldn't need a big overhaul like some of the other boards....:(

But if you guys want to do it you have my blessing and any mod/administrative help I can muster

*flexes*

Well, we also have PhantomX for some stuff, so it's probably better if you pay more attention to other boards

If you guys want an overhaul on some of the stickied or locked threads, just tell me what you want to do and I'm here.

Of course, you should have a general consensus first...

Didn't I say we needed to clean up our guide two weeks ago, and didn't everybody agree with me?

So, who's gonna do it? We need someone to take it over.

I think the Locked Threads should be clean, since these threads don't have any purpose anymore.

Wats the point of cleaning locked threads. They are just gonna die because their locked. Why waste the time. The guide on the other hands should be where our attention is.

The Question is: Who will Update the Guides of Swoops and DAD ?

What can I do about that ?

As Twilight Prince said, We need someone to take over.

I agree with you TP.

What we may be able to do (as other boards have suggested), is to have an account that is shared between the active updaters so that whenever something comes along, any one of them can update the threads. That way, it's not necessarily one person in control of anything and doesn't depend on them always being active.

I propose a thread with a list of all useful threads, get rid of all the useless stickies, and we're done.

This is what we should do, then. <_<

Seriously... Take a look at the Samus boards.

All their stickies have frickin epic Titles:

  • Shoot First, Ask Questions Later: The Samus Q & A Thread
  • Celestial Archives: The Samus Video Thread
  • Samus's Log Book: Creature Morphology
  • Map Station
  • The ULTIMATE Samus Database

It'd be coo' if we pimped our titles up a bit ! :colorful:

For thesunrosered. 90% sure on my guesses.

I personally like intriguing titles so long as the actual purpose is at the end.

(EG: "blah blah funny title - The blah blah matchup thread" )

It would be good if there could be some thread at which to hold the communications that would be necessary to looking after the other threads in a collaborative fashion.

I'm sick, but when I'm better, I would like to manage the Ganon guide. However, I'm not actually proven yet in any way, so I don't know anything. I just like organizing stuff.

What's the biggest problem with the Ganon guide right now? This is for Ganon users, not Virgilijus. Are there data problems? Do we need to add finds? Does it need to expand?

That is fine, but I just felt like if someone new to the character came to the boards and saw bunch of threads with weird names, it could possibly deter them. If the intent is at the end though, by all means name away :)

That's a good point, though I'm sure there can be a compromise of user friendly and ganon board flavor.

I did this with the Luigi boards b/c they have active posters and updaters. Here there's like 2 or 3 people total that do so, so it's less optimal. Closed threads eventually die and get moved to the rubbish bin before long, so there's no hurry to remove them.

If people want me to unsticky some of the threads they can just tell me and if a large majority want them gone I can easily do so as well.
