Are free updates on launch day generally frowned upon? I would think if they were free it wouldn't be that big of an issue but maybe I'm wrong?
The way Sakurai talks kinda makes me feel like he's constantly pushing himself to squeeze as much into this game as possible. So it does make me wonder if there will be content that wasn't completed in time for the base game that he might give away for free on launch day or soon after release. Content that wasn't planned as dlc.
Personally I wouldn't have an issue with it if it was free. I think it would be pretty clear that it was content that just wasn't quite ready at release but wasn't meant to be "dlc". (thus being why it was given away as a free update)
Of course that's all just hypothetical.

The fact that it's inconsistent with Vergeben and he's been getting a lot more wrong recently is something that's blatantly ignored despite the fact that it proves him to be unreliable.
Yeah I can definitely see free updates happening for things that didn't quite finish on time.

Thank you. Though handled poorly at time Dark Dawn had very fun characters. That's also why everyone loves Sveta so much. Dark Dawn is far from being a bad game or a bad golden sun. It's main flaws are pacing and absence of proper backtracking. The music is cool, story is nice (just not paced properly), character are fun, environment are gorgeous, combat system got deepener with the weapon skills, puzzles were still awesome !
The only thing that makes people hate it so much, and the reason why the anger to it grew with time is because of the cliffhanger and the fact we have no sequel to fill it.

To answer your question, no. Dark Dawn is not as good as the originals. It’s not a terrible game, but it’s not the best Golden Sun game. Just go into it with low expectations. And most importantly, just enjoy it for what it is, not what you think it should be and you’ll be fine.

Except he usually tells us when it's only from one source, ahead of time. So for example, he told us that only one of his sources said it was Incineroar, and then later clarified that now everyone was telling him it was Incineroar. Even though he didn't have to, since Incineroar is probably in the game regardless. The fact that he uses these "outs" even when he doesn't have to, is making me feel like there is some legitimacy to them.

It doesn't change the fact that it could well be a method to make backwalking easier. He's done it for other fighting games why not now.

More unique doesn't always = better. The way you describe Tyrell, for instance, is actually why I probably like Garet more than Tyrell.
I remember Sveta being kinda cool, I'll give you that.
It's been a long ass time since I've played any GS game, so honestly, I couldn't really go into detail about why I feel the way I do, I just recall enjoying the banter and dialogue characters had in the first two games more than I did Dark Dawn.

Yeah that is something to note. The 3DS really caused more problems than good when it came to smash 4. And wouldn't put that past them to halt Isaac's development for that reason as well. Add that as the 4 potential reason to my list.

It's just kind of cringe how serious some people are taking the box theory, when it is in fact a theory. It's to a point I'm seeing people getting insulted or ridiculed for not believing in CoroCoro's 'typo' or being hopeful for who they'd like to see join the roster. Before the box theory, the thread was already pretty bad to read through with the arguments, now it's just ten times worst.

In general, any Smash 'theory' is garbage. It's just people trying to see patterns.
There may be hints for individual characters, though. That is where you are likely to see a grain of truth. All of these big "There are only three spots left!" claims are just bull ****.

Wait, wouldn't boxists want believe in the corocoro stage count being a typo, since the higher stage count could potentially point towards more characters then Ken and Incineroar, meaning the box theory could be wrong?

Eh, it's gotten to the point where I feel like there's nothin else to be said in the General Speculation Thread. Even the points that I do bring up get mostly ignored and then I wait for the next round of the Box Theory or CoroCoro leak or Vergeben etc. Rinse, repeat, ad infinitum. I do like how it's gone on to discuss DLC more often since it keeps the discussion from spiraling into an over toxic mess of a thread but even then, we're not even to DLC yet, and people are so damn sure that Inceneroar and Ken are all that's left. And that's fine but it doesn't mean it's any fun.

How to kill Box Theory: 3 or more characters or an Echo Fighter who isn't an Echo of Palutena, Pac-Man, Robin, Shulk, Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt, Ryu, or Cloud
The Box Theory doesn't require Incineroar. I don't know why people keep suggesting it does. Literally any unique newcomer can go there (alternatively, an Echo of Bayonetta or any Ultimate newcomer can go there, but its insanely unlikely any of these will happen).
It technically doesn't require Ken either, Ken is just by far the most likely option.

Sakurai is a troll and also understand the hype behind his game. Keep our expectations low to surprise us later especially since this game appears to be made specifically for the Smash fans. I even think they purposely designed the boxart of the special edition like that to again throw us all off. Until proven otherwise I believe we have 6-7 more newcomers/echoes left!

Oops yeah, meant to say for not believing the 108 I'd a typo. Going to correct that since it sounds backwards lol.
On that end, yeah things like Gematsu in 4 just kills speculation and sucks the fun out of it. Been there done that with Ike back in 4, with not only the dreaded FE pattern, but Gematsu making Chrom seem inevitable.
I really want another Robin esque reveal, someone to throw the current speculation scene on it's head. Even if it won't immediately kill the box theory, but I currently find the 103 more annoying.

If someone really was cut from the direct, we’ll know pretty soon because they’ll probably do a reveal like they did with Robin. I really doubt they’d rearrange a smash direct to fit them, instead opting for the easier option to just reveal the character on its own.

I'll simply say this for Dark Dawn. If you want to get all the Djinns, look up points of no returns so you don't accidentally cross one and lose out on some Djinn.
