So gotta ask since it's virtually September; what do you guys think the Nintendo Online Service stuff is going to be like/how much is it going to fly or crash?
I just hope there's more to it than what was already announced. Ideally their new virtual console thingie will have more than just NES games. Maybe they'll announce stuff for it that SHOULD have been on the Switch much earlier like Netflix and themes.

We've only got around 60 days at most until we know whether or not Geno has made it. It's so stressful in the best way possible.

Poking my head in to offer support. I think the stars have aligned for this puppet. I wonder if Sakurai will consider him this game's retro rep...?

Wouldn't it be a little over 90 days?
I'm sure we'd find out about all the newcomers a bit before the game actually launches, similar to how Smash 4 had their 50-Fact Extravaganza about a month before release.

I just thought of something! online is launching in September sometime. we'll probably gonna get a direct to fully reveal all the online features and along with it we're probably gonna get a small smash section to show off what smash's online play will look like. as a way to show people a reason why they will really want this service. and since it's a smash thing we'll probably also get one new character reveal to go along with it. because of course they can't talk smash without a character reveal. maybe an echo will get thrown in as well? but I imagine more limited time so maybe not.

this is just my theory. was there an exact date for onlines launch or is it just general September?

I kind of expect this time they'll want to reveal everyone before review copies go out to people like Gamexplain; so late November at the latest, but probably a bit earlier. Just a theory though.

oh good point I didn't even think about review copies! it makes me really happy to know we'll get to see every character before launch. that means our wait will be even less then normal

I'm predicting a Nintendo Direct in September to cover the online services and other games for the winter. I expect a newcomer trailer and probably an echo.

Then I'm predicting a Smash Direct in November to reveal the rest of the characters, Spirits, and everything else not yet covered.

Although I'm not discounting chances for random character reveals between now and late November, which is when I suspect review copies will be going out.

I kinda think Late October or Early Nov we will see the final dump of info. Hopefully :)

Apparently this person put more "new evidence" and on it the person changed the accent on Agnes' name. To me that is the final nail in the coffin. I didn't believe it anyways, but to backtrack on something has substantial as that proves that it's false. Debunked man!

I'm curious to see what new evidence they provided. Are there pictures, by any chance?

It's amazing how hard this person is trying convince people LOL
It's actually kind of pathetic at this point. I get that people are going to throw leaks out there, but this one is just one thing on top of another on top of another. Someone proves it wrong and said person finds a way to make it credible (which doesn't happen). It's pretty annoying and I'm relatively easy going.

I wouldn't worry about it. Its fake-o. He just tried adjusting things to what people all over have been pointing out that makes it fake. Now correcting it? So its real? heh no.

It would have been more believable to keep it the same. Why would they shoot themselves in the foot?

I kinda noticed something about Geno's design, now i'm probably not the first to make this connection but his clothes remind me of another square character
If we get Geno, we technically get the Mario version of Black Mage
The cloak is quite similar, though I think Mallow was meant to be more the Mario version of Black Mage.

I'm with you, man. I mean, I really have to wonder about the motivations of these fake leakers. What's the endgame? Attention? Gloating rights and credibility if you happen to guess right? It just seems so ridiculous to go these lengths for one's ego. If you put in half the effort and time they spend on fake leaks into something worthwhile, like maybe fan content about the characters you want (or anything actually productive, really,) then you could get praise and ego stroking from that.

And if it's about staving off boredom or containing hype while we wait, it feels like there are better ways to go about that that don't toy with people's hopes and emotions. We seem to be doing just fine talking Geno and our other favorites without leaks.

But to each their own, I suppose. If that's how fake leakers want to have fun, then that's that. Maybe I should just get better at ignoring them, lol.

Thanks TBone! The road to Geno is a rough one. This is another pot hole in that road.

With ya every step of the way pal! Ride that rollercoaster!! Take the ups and downs. I'm still confident in the end game!

I completely agree. It makes zero sense to me. There is nothing to gain if it's wrong (which there is overwhelming evidence that there is) and to keep changing it to make it more believable is having the opposite effect. To your point in toying with people's emotions.. I will never understand why people would want to do that. It boggles my mind, but I don't think every person is as rational as I am.

Yet almost every fake leaker is guaranteed to get at least one desperate or gullible Smash fan to believe them. Look at how quickly that fake image leak spread and how it had so many people believing that it was the next ESRB leak before it was debunked. These leakers have an audience and I think the best thing we can do is not give them the attention that they're craving. If people didn't believe or even acknowledge these leakers, they'll hopefully go away.

I'm confident that Geno will be in Smash this time regardless of what any leaker says.

Reading the comment section of that YouTuber that believes the Agnes leak makes me lose hope in people

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MOGBmU67slM&t=1s
What gets me is how adamant he is about it being real. Like dude, you are the reason people are falling for this crap. Typically he does a good job with his videos, but I don't know how he doesn't see what we see. That's the one thing I can say about BillyBo10k and PapaGenos, they are both very rational and limit the bias.

Also on the topic of Youtubers, WiiUGamer was calling Agnes "ANGS" and it broke my soul every time. It wasn't as bad as when he called Geno "Jen-o", but still pretty bad.

This is why BillyBo and PapaGenos are my go to YouTubers for news on Smash leaks and speculation. I find them very rational and calm, as opposed to the over the top ones who believe every leak they see. They take the time to explain their thoughts and don't allow bias to get in the way. GameXplain is where I mainly go for official Smash/Nintendo news.

The ones who push these fake leaks are the ones who lose credibility and my support.

I just wanted to throw in my two cents for the Agnes leak. It looks hella fake to me. Those renders are pretty bad. Not even close to the quality of the other renders we've seen. I'm still on the Geno train.

Not gonna lie... I voted for a metric ton of characters. I can only think of a few off hand, but among them were King K. Rool, Ridley, Travis Touchdown, Banjo & Kazooie, Bandana Dee, and Zoroark, and I feel like I should be able to come up with quite a few more.
For the Ballot i voted for Ridley, King K Rool, and Geno every once in a while i put Mayu and Mio in there also :p

Alright starting a new playthrough of Mario RPG to hype up for ultimate! it's been a long time since I last played. maybe this time I'll actually beat Culex! also question does Peach's healing abilities scale with her magic attack?

I don't think you'll see Geno on very many of the multitude of fake image leaks that are sure to be popping up now. The simple reason for that is that he's a much more difficult character to make look even somewhat convincing than most of the other possible options people will try to fake. The cartoony animal characters and off the wall stuff like chorus kids usually have much simpler textures while a convincing Geno render would need realistic wood patterns for his body and fabrics for his clothes. It's much harder to pass off as real, so most people won't try it.
