Hopefully something like this hasn't been made. I searched and found a topic about VGM credits, but it doesn't suit the topic for general discussion for VGM that I was looking for.

Ok so, I'm a huge fan of VGM (Video Game Music.) In fact, 70% of my iPod consists of OSTs or Remixes of game music. There's just something about VGm that makes me prefer it to other music. I love the diversity of music that comes from VGM and the creativity that's inspired in making it. So, of course, I also love discussing it, which is why I made this topic.

I guess I'll start by listing my favorite OSTs and songs from them.

1. Donkey Kong Country 2 - Pretty much everything, especially Stickerbrush Symphony and In A Snowbound Land
2. Metroid Prime Series- Rundas's Theme (from Prime 3)
3. Megaman 2 - Pretty much everything
4. Majora's Mask - Calling the Four Giants, Astral Observatory, and the Song of Healing
5. Ocarina of Time - Pretty much everything
6. Blazeblue - Virtually every song of the soundtrack is amazing, especially Thin RED Line
7. Sonic Adventure - Again, another flat out amazing soundtrack, I especially like Knuckles's stage's songs.
8. Megaman Zero Series - From Z3: Cold Smile, Cannonball, Judgement Day From Z4: Red Hot Particle Canon, Misjudgement, Fall of Ragnarok
9. Chrono Trigger - Corridors of Time, Tyran Castle, Undersea Palace, World Revolution
10. Tales of Symphonia - Fighting the Spirit, Beat the Angel, Fatalize

More to come when I remember more songs. For right now, I'll link you to the song that I'm currently in love with: Music Madness - Donkey Kong Country Returns

YES, Rundas' theme is amazing. It fits perfectly in his battle.

I'm surprised you didn't mention any Mario. Pretty much all of Galaxy 2's soundtrack impressed me.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of the Sky. Primal Dialga battle theme. Makes me so emotional ;_;

Pokemon White. Souryuu City. Really really great song.

Super Mario Galaxy 1/2. Great music all together.

Halo 3: ODST had an amazing soundtrack. And it might not be a video game, but the movie Inception has a good one as well.

Well, some examples that come to my mind:

Chrono Cross OST
TWEWY OST
Final Fantasy X OST
Final Fantasy VI OST
Suikoden II OST
Suikoden V OST
Wild ARMs OST

Also, even though it's technically only based on a game and totally fanmade, you'd probably like the "Blazblue: Crisis Reversed OST".

Sonic Colors, DKCR, and Dragon Age are three games I've played recently with great music.

for me, every song from Guilty Gear: The Missing Link was awesome, as well as Front Mission 3, Star Ocean: The Second Story, among others

Front Mission 3 had a really good OST, for sure. I still get the Imaginary Number theme stuck in my head sometimes. As for Star Ocean: The Second Story, I do admit that it has a good soundtrack, but the voice acting in that game is so unbearable at times that I often wound up playing it with the volume off making me nickname it "the best game I've played muted".
