It's a pretty noticeable difference.
Yes, like I said before I've lost ground on straightaways to Daisy's using the same vehicle as my Mario was driving.

I mean...I use Daisy + Mach Bike and it's pretty fast....I'm a bit rusty to MKW and forgive me if I missed this in previous posts, but isn't Funky Kong + Flame Runner like...the fastest combination in MKW?
Funky Kong + Flame Runner is easily the best, the only thing about that is bad is it's acceleration (which is the worst in the game), but the stand still mini-turbo takes care of that. :(

I myself only can handle MKW for little doses of time.
Ditto, it usually only takes one race before I'm done.

The fact you have no invincibility after you get hit by an item is annoying enough, but items themselves in that game are too broken. Anybody can win at MKW, especially on a stage like Luigi's Raceway.
So true, although the only games so far in the series that have had invincibility are MKDD and MKDS.

I almost feel like this game also doesn't have enough courses.
Sure is great how most people want to spam Luigi's Circuit.
But seriously, they made the tracks too overly simplisitic, Special Cup is on par with most of the series' Flower Cups, and they pretty much chose some of the worst stages in Mario Kart to bring back. (Peach Beach, Shy Guy Beach, and Yoshi Falls)

Also, here's an interesting fact: A full race at Mario Kart Wii's Rainbow Road takes LESS turns to navigate than a full race in Super Mario Kart's Mario Circuit 1.

I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing. Items are pretty annoying in MKWii (although they're manageable) so getting hit by them during a turn can get really annoying (and seems to happen way to often).

Main reason I love N64 Rainbow Road.

Eh, DS and DD Rainbow roads are tied. Fun without the excruciatingly dying over a bottomless pit. I like MKWii's art style for it, but it's just way too chaotic to be a real fair track. The reason I hate it more than the rest, though, is this; it is my brother's favorite track. This fact also is why Bowser's Castle is mine (besides the fact that I main Bowser Jr. With the Super blooper. The only reason I got past Shy Guy Beach...).

Yeah, MK64 Rainbow Road is my favorite version if you include the insane shortcuts (if they made a game with all of the Rainbow Roads and you could NOT do the shortcuts, it would drop to 5th favorite of the rainbow roads due to the otherwise lacking obstacles (Chain Chomps are pretty easy to avoid if you're not blinded by an incline).) MKDS's Rainbow Road is my second favorite since it's a really good balance between speed and skill, with all of those speedpads and hairpins, plus that awesome loop-de-loop that somehow defies item physics.

Insane shortcuts? Never knew N64 had any...

As I said above, I like the balance between pulling your hair out and simple (the main reason I don't really like the N64 one) as it's supposed to be the most difficult course. DS hit the balance between having a lot of those "OMG Awesome" moments and simplicity that makes for a fair race. But, then again, my favorite courses are and always be Waluigi Pinball and Wario Coliseum and Rainbow road is just another untouched course.

There's one that cuts off one-third of the race near the start (you fly through the air for nearly four seconds non-stop), technically there are multiple versions since you can land either on the part that drops after the first loop or even end up on the spiral itself in MK64.

I figured it was something like that...

Yeah, I'm defiantly planning getting BiS, I'm actually planning on getting all three, I really want to play all of them.

Despite hear PiT is the worst of the trilogy, it still seems interesting :O
It's not like it's a bad game; just the worst of the trilligy. My advice is to play them in order if you want to play all of them; there is a slight spoiler about the ending of PiT in a sidequest in bowser's inside story.

Partners In Time did put up the harder boss battles, just that it was the shortest and took out Bros Attacks, the best idea besides sliced bread. )=

Yeah, PiT was definitely a good game. The enemies are a little too easy to dodge though, but not by much, that and the removal of Bros Attacks kind of took away from it a bit.

I felt that SS was better, but you should get all three when you have the chance (The first game is a little more relevant to BiS than PiT, so you should try out the Superstar Saga before the others if you can.)

That's the part that I didn't like. Certainly items are a bit more "Mario," but I'd rather be creating a massive lightning air strike than green shells any day.

But yeah, while I did struggle with SS since I was only eight when I first beat it, PiT (and BiS) certainly has the harder bosses.
General Shroob took me forever to beat simpily because I had no idea what do do with the shroob bomb-omb till much later. As did Princess Shroom's twin.
BiS bosses had a lot of parts to them and, while confusing, were also pretty tough
particularly anything from flab zone onwards.
But, yeah. Last time I played SS, I could easily beat most one stage bosses in two bros attacks
including the first stage of bowletta.

SS bosses are much easier to fight if you spent time level grinding beforehand.

It's the reason I like SS so much. After playing the game so many times and figuring out attack patterns, I would spend hours walking around the outskirts of BeanBean Castle fighting the Paratroopeas and Tanoombas and get a relatively huge amount of experience - I don't think the other two M&L games have that kind of option.

I also have bias toward SS for it's compelling story. It's not cliche like PiT is (compared to the other Mario games), and it's not completely laid out in front of you. Going from retrieving "Peach's" voice (which involves turning the BeanBean Queen back to normal), to seemingly defeating Cackletta, to finding out the entire Voice portion of the story was a hoax, guiding Peach through TeeHee valley to visit the immigrant Toads, to discovering Cackletta is not really dead, to collecting BeanStar pieces (arguably the only cliche thing about the plot), to actually saving the Princess, to infiltrating Bowser's Castle to defeat Bowletta, to going inside Bowser's body (lol foreshadowing) to defeat Cackletta's spirit to end the game....

There was just so many twists and turns to this game that I can't get myself to not like it.

Same. The other two seem so linear and RPG Mario Cliches; Peach kidnapped by *Insert entity here* who uses *insert artificat* to help him. Mario must travel to *insert lair here* but must collect *insert number from 3-8* *insert object name here* in order to have a climactic battle with *insert entity used earlier here.* *Insert entity here* reveals that he needed Peach's *Insert noun here* to *Insert either rule world or destroy world here* and starts using Peach's *insert noun here* to complete his plot, but mario manages to defeat *insert entity here*, but *insert either "he reveals his true form" or "his plan comes to frutation" here* and mario must defeat *Insert true form or ancient power*, save the princess, and return to *insert Mushroom Kingdom locale here.* *Insert Credits here*

...anyways, it doesn't follow that plot exactly. Certainly mario has to collect Beanstar pieces (or Star cures), but that's much later in the story. Otherwise, you get a free reign plot with a consistant and connected overworld with plenty of sidequests of which PiT was lacking.

I'm terrible. I've only played SS. I never got around to getting PiT...but I heard BiS was really good.

*Starts humming Don't stop Believing, but stops midway to hum mario songs to keep topic on track*

EDIT: Should I make a Mario RPG topic for all games with slight role playing elements?

Yeah, that's true, I don't hear that PiT is bad, just not as good. I'm definatly planning on playing them in order anyway :p

PiT had it's moments, but it wasn't as exciting or comedic as the first one.

Other than that, I can't believe we finally got a subforum!

Oh I can believe it. Also I had only played SS haha. I will get PiT when I get my Ds lite. Seriously. Then after, I'll save for a Dsi or xl or something.

If your getting a DS Lite then you mind as well not get DSi or DSi XL since 3DS is coming around this year or next year.

Although it wasn't as good as the first one, Mario and Luigi PiT is still a good game. You should definitely get it. It was still entertaining.

Oh yeah, Mario sub forum!

PiT's mechanics with the babies were a bit weird. Glad they stuck with primarily Mario/Luigi in Inside Story.

First post on this on the SmashBoards. Here it goes...
*ahem*

Anyways, I am planning to download Paper Mario on Wii Console. Is that a good enough game for me to download? I havent heard much about it, but it appears to have quite a cult following around Nintendo forums. I want it so bad, I might wet my nickers.

So is it a good idea?

Indeed it's a good idea. By Far one of the better VC games you can buy. I'd fully recommend it.

So guys just a question out there since I haven't seen a Moderator(s) for this subforum yet.

Q: When is Bowser King going to be listed as Mod here?
