Evil Eye still has the next "Thing" type game setup, but depending on how yours looks we might have both running

Ok, that's fine. By the way, weren't you going to do a Thing game in the BRoom? Did you ever do that? Or has the first one scared you out of it?

Soon after "The Thing" was made I have always wanted to make a very similar game to it but titled "Meerkat Manor".

Seriously, have you guys seen the television series for it on animal planet? It's intense! Filled with battles, enemies, shifts of power, separation, turmoil, back stabbing and mutany! Seriously, it would make the best RPG, 'The Thing' style.

I have a few more kinks to work out. I want to make it very exclusive to lower the chances of having inactives. The problem is, on the show the main meerkat group has up to 50 meerkats and I only want to do a game of about 10.

Would this be something of interest? This would give another opportunity for those of you who didn't get to do The Thing and I know Eor went through hell with that game.

Why not 25? We can easily get that many.

There are many reasons why. First of all, even mafia games are having trouble with activity with 20 players. In conjunction with that, role playing games require even more activity than mafia games and therefore it would be putting a telescope towards the sun in comparison to how magnified inactivity will be.

Thirdly, and most importantly (as far as I am concerned), the number of PMs I would recieve would be astronomical. Just rididculous. Eor[strike]lingas[/strike] recieved hundreds of PMs in a matter of a few days and his game only had 12 people in it.

Finally, there will be way too much going on in the thread itself to handle the vast berth of players. And it is already hard enough to have long term visual memory of where every person and place is.

That sounds really interesting. I havent followed that show too much but I know what you mean, it would make a good RPG.

Yeah, while those RPG games are indeed awesome, this type of forum really isn't the best environment. If you were to run them somewhere offsite, at say like, NAH or something, sites which are constructed specifically for RPing (so you can create specific topics for specific groups of people allowing them to communicate better, GM's can see any and all private communication, etc.), the game would run much more smoothly, not to mention you'd probably be able to easily fill the games roster with active players.

I'm trying to hunt down the thread which hosted such a game on the other forum I mentioned. It might take a while, I'm remembering this from about 2 years ago

And their search function sucks.
Basically though, as I remember it, there are 10 members in a round. All that you do is vote for who is the better member, and then the top 3 / 10 will move on to the next round. Then it keeps on continuing such as that until there's only one left.

It was performed once a year on the other forum, but that consistency stopped a while back.

Are popularity contests allowed on SWF? o_O
