Doesn't sound very town... but even more likely to not be Mafia. The problem is verifying it: namely, we can't without risking losing two lives, statistically allies rather than foes.

Opossum had this role in the first game, held by Disfunkshunal, and he was third party. He won by getting lynched, and the love part was just to troll everyone. Golden could be lying and referencing it thinking I'd bring this up as reinforcement, I'm not sure.

I'm not so sure I agree... Townies don't benefit from hearing private conversations nearly as much as mafia who are less likely to hear sensitive information and more likely to act on it. The only thing a townie would want is to catch a very specific lie that they can compare their PMs to. Or if they can get messages from the Mafia hideout where they PM each other, but that would be so overwhelmingly strong it could hand the town the entire scum gang.
