Hi smashboards, I always wanted to know what's overall the favorite music, artist or genre in the community. I would like to hear your opinions, likes, dislikes or things like that.

here go mine:

I don't have a " favorite" genre/band/artist overall but those that I like are :

I am starting to get to like the Techno Genre.

and some others. and yeah I am kinda into japanese music.

I like: Almost any post-hardcore music especially unknown bands and a few metalcore bands.
Some bands I like: Her Bright Skies, Adept, Intohimo, Aim for the Sunrise, Confide, From this Moment, Walking With Strangers... and a bunch more

I dont like: The music on MTV

Some artists I dont like: Justin Bieber, Rihanna

Also listen to eminem.

I have many forms of music I like. I personally usually enjoy songs that include some classical instrument within the song.

my persona favorite albums in some order are:
1. Dark Side of the Moon By Pink Floyd
2. OK Computer by Radiohead
3. Leaders of the Free World by Elbow
4. Ross Czillag al Suzett by Venetian Snares
5. Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay
6. Hold Your Colour by Pendulum
7. Yoshimitsu Battles the Robots by The Flaming Lips
8. 4 Symbols/Number 4 by Led Zep
9. Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles
10. The Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow

I am personally a fan of:

1. Alt Rock (as in Elbow, Doves, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Coldplay, The Killers, The Strokes, Massive Attack, etc.)

2. Psychedelic rock (Pink Floyd, Flaming lips, others)

3. Alt Metal (mostly the old stuff, Led Zep, AC/DC, the woman who did the song Barracuda, some Metallic),

4. Electronica: As in
A. Trance (mostly vocal, all different songs such as Ecstasy by ATB or As the rush comes Dynaglide edit)
B. Drill n' bass or Drum n' bass (Coloris, pendulum [specifically the Hold your colour album)
C. IDM: (Mu-Zig, Aphex twin)
D. House (all different artists)
E. Break-step/Dark techno (Venetian Snare)

5. The majority of the music from the 80's, followed by the 60's, and then the 70's.

I am personally not a fan of:
1. Majority of Rap and hiphop outside a few artists

2. Most music found on the "top 40's" today

3. A lot of recent Pop

4. Most metal of today or hard rock

The only thing I don't like is country music (with the exception of Taylor Swift) and really hardcore death metal sort of stuff.

What I like to listen to, depends on my mood. That means, I constantly change my playlist. Right now that I feel happy, excited or on my way to work, my playlist is full of upbeat songs from RnB/Hiphop to House music, to keep me in a chipper mood. If I feel down or angry, I'll change my playlist and load it with lots of Rock or Heavy Metal. The only genre that I don't listen to is, country music and some "commercial pop."

I dislike: Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Eminem, all rap (save 3 or so rap songs),

I dislike mainstream music.

I'm into underground rap, particularly Aesop Rock, and other artists of that caliber.

I dunno. I like a little bit of everything. From noise and abrasive avant garde music to pop and mainstream hip hop and everything inbetween and besides. The only type of music I can think of outright hating is pop country, along the lines of Toby Keith, Carry Underwood, newer Kid Rock music, stuff like that. I like Garth Brooks though, go figure. I also like real western country music, I just hate the mainstream, overproduced type.

I think it's stupid to hate mainstream music on general principle. Some people take music way too seriously and can't relax and enjoy stupid catchy melodies and beats.

but in my opinion, i LOVE country music.. im the son of a 3rd generation farmer,*starts thinking about the song "Internatrional Harvester"* and have grown up around country music all my life... but ill GLADLY listen to anything, except music that has originated from disney channel, and rap.

I listen to Alt Rock and most Metal genres, but barely any mainstream, at least not with all the modern crap floating around the radio. I personally find mainstream music uninspired, rushed and overall, too cookie cutter. There are always exceptions though, some bands are popular for a reason.
I'm retartedly picky with my music, so I'm usually really band specific.

I'm a fan of Sonata Arctica, Dream Theater, Queens of the Stone Age, Epica, and usually the good old stuff. Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Lad Zeppelin, you know.

Other kind of musics I really like are country, some movie music, and love.
