I'm still concerned about sending night PMs...am I just being anti-social for thinking that night pms do more harm than good for Town? Someone enlighten me about this since I pretty much was not at all involved in last game's night pm process nor did I get to see any of the conversations.
Hypothetically if I misread
#HBC | Nabe
and tell him I'm the cop, and Nabe is a strongman, he's going to pull me over and end my soul after having his way with me.
The reason why night PMs can be beneficial is that scum have a hard time replicating the genuine relationships that are formed between townies each game. It's possible for them to pass off as sincere, but difficult because they're talking to you one-on-one and they know that they have malicious intents (misguide you, throw blame on others, make you suspicious of others, etc.) Compared to someone who's genuinely innocent, the act and disguise the mafia puts on pales.
I didn't wanna make it sound like I thought you were dumb

when I said the obvious "well if they ask you to target someone dumb then they scum" when you first asked this question, but it has happened CONSISTENTLY with me. This past game, I knew that vaan was mafia because he was making suggestions and recommendations for my enabling, but they would always go wrong; night 1 I told him I was targeting DJ, he told me to target Stoopid; DJ was blocked. N2 he told me to target DJ again, DJ was killed.
Best to just use it on DJ and hope he actually gets a track off.
Even in our second mafia game in our NZone group, I was talking to a scum, Holder, and I was going to blow someone up (they were a mafia). I told this to a mafioso and they wanted to "jail" (they were just a roleblocker lol) me, saying that all lives mattered at that point of the game.
You're planning on sacrificing yourself?

A mafia life is worth more than a townie life because there's more of us but at this point every life matters. Should I make it so you'd come out alive in that scenario?
When things like this happen, and you notice the coincidences, the mafia is easily outed. Especially when you make plans with other players to take down the mafia (because obviously a mafia wouldn't co-operate to kill one of their own). Again in the second mafia game, I blew up a mafia with the help of two other townies; that proved each other's townie-ness to all three of us, and we trusted each other for the rest of the game, which made it easy for me to single out the mafia.
Just in general, night PMs really benefit the town; they help to build trust between townies, they allow you to converse information privately that you couldn't otherwise (e.g; "I'm the cop!"), and it helps to widdle down potential suspects as you get to read the slot better with the one-on-one conversation and gain an understanding of their motives and their role, the latter especially as mafia roles usually aren't as grandioso as townie roles. Night PMs are pretty cool as long as you don't act dumb with them. Which, depending on your personality, may be pretty easy,, considering how last game I went to Coricus, the mafia roleblocker, and asked if she would benefit from my enabling.
