A Falco, Meta Knight, and Sheik player from San Diego Tijuana, Mexico named AC placed 17th at Paragon and it's the same AC as in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IBRHybrXwY. He's come a long way. This is his recent work from Paragon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7njcy7cYdI. Quoting parts of Zan's update for the Notable Players List thread for a rundown of the people he fought:
Mega Paragon post:
Pools (from what I know)
AC :4falco:beat True Blue :4sonic:

Top 64:
Round 1 (winners/losers)
AC :4falco: beat Ed :4sheik:
ImHip :4olimar: beat AC :4falco:/:4metaknight:
Round 4
ESAM:4pikachu:beat AC:4falco::4metaknight:
Challonge link for top 64: http://paragon.challonge.com/la_2015_smash4_singles. Viva Falco (and Meta Knight and... fine... Sheik too)! Correct me if I'm wrong since I don't know Spanish well. Also, regarding his play, it's really, really cautious and makes you think we're playing Street Fighter with his walking.

Forgot to post this here too: Nom's really making a statement with Falco in Michigan; took 4th in http://pulse-gaming.challonge.com/SFW6. Also, @ Daybreak502 Daybreak502 took 25th there as well.

Also, Eshura took 1st again with his Falco, Pit, and Lucina at VinCon: http://challonge.com/vinconsmash4.
Yea Nom and me to a much lesser extent are brining up Falco in the Eastern Michigan scene. I have many more results at tourneys there but another user with the name of Daybreak stole my points and results at a few other tournys. Got to get that figured out

Yubi took 13th at First Attack 2015. Pools results: http://fa2015.challonge.com/Smash4A2, and top 16 results: http://fa2015.challonge.com/Smash4Finals. I think this is a regional in Puerto Rico, but I'm not sure... Here's match from pools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUEwuSBB2QQ.

Nom also managed 4th again with Falco and Alph at Oh Did I Win: http://challonge.com/ODIW1sm4shSingles. He also entered doubles with Rog and got 5th with Falco and Fox: http://challonge.com/ODIW1sm4shdubs. The last time I heard of Falco in doubles was when Larry Lurr, Mr. R, and Vinnie agreed to use only their secondaries.

._. The reality is, my Falco is not good enough yet to take me to 4th place at an event like that. It's mostly my Olimar. But wow you guys are on top of things when it comes to tracking players down, haha.

But I'm trying. I've gotta decide between falco or fox at this point and I'm not sure who to continue with. Don't know if Falco quite has the neutral game to cut it. Someone convince me otherwise?

I feel like his neutral game isn't on par with some of the top tiers like sheik but it is definitely not awful. although you can no longer short hop double laser with no lag his laser is still a fine ranged attack. His tilts are also very effective spacing options as well as his neutral and back air. His grab can lead to some decent combos although not guaranteed. his reflector is actually pretty good as well due to its range.

Yea his netureal kinda sucks but besides that he's not bad at all. Stick with it man don't leave me as the only Falco in our scene lol.

Also, if anyone here would like to play and practice with me let me know my ID is EricAJ (wii u only)

Eh, you're placing and that's what matters. If Falco was truly unviable as people believed in the early days even with a secondaries, co-mains, or what have you, then he wouldn't even make it out of pools much less past the character select screen.

Finding stuff is kind of easy when you can just filter YouTube searches to upload date and find videos from channels like showdowngg, terminalkai, gooshigaming, etc. You do have to watch the video to see if that Falco player is doing okay, but it's not that hard. The age of the internet. Full of information, but in need of figuring out what's useful and what's not.

As for his neutral, that's better asked in this thread: http://smashboards.com/threads/falco-king-of-the-birds-game-play-discussion.367184/. A rundown is that it's really positional-based. Falco at close-range has access to fast moves with good range for poking, spacing, and playing footsies along with fast, strong punishes like Bair and Dtilt. At mid-range, so about a third to a half of FD, he kind of falters since he doesn't exactly have a good projectile to harass people and he doesn't have the speed to close the gap and go back to close combat. At long-range, he kind of does okay since he can reflect stuff or just stay the hell out of people's range. Unless they're playing Pit, Link, Toon Link, Zelda, or whoever with projectiles that can cover the entire stage or almost the entire stage and more or have speed and a good projectile like Sheik, ZSS, and Fox, not a lot of characters can do much. Even Captain Falcon, Roy, and Sonic will end up closing the gap, approaching him, which means he won't be playing long-range anymore, but close-range where he excels. He doesn't really do much at long-range most characters don't already do. Someone made a thread to rank each characters states of play and they used 5 star rankings. For Falco, I'd say at close-range, he's got a 3/5 - 4/5 feels like it would be pushing it -, mid-range is something like 1.5/5, and long-range is 2/5. Overall, it'd be something like 1.5/5 to 2.5/5. It's decent, but heavily dependent on positioning.

Disadvantage is just bad like Fox, Captain Falcon, and Roy's. 2/5 probably like them. Advantage is like neutral where it's heavily dependent on DI kind of like PM Wolf. I'd say he's 3/5 with 4/5 if you read their DI well. The ability to kill easily on the peripheries of the stage, strong edgeguard game, loads of kill tools that also happen to be combo and setup tools, access to kill throws even if they're unreliable, and having fast, but strong moves means Falco's advantage is pretty strong, but he doesn't really have true combos past mid-percent meaning nothing's really guaranteed like Luigi getting D-throw to Bair or Sheik doing Needles to Bouncing Fish. If all his setups and combos were true, he'd be a 5/5 and a ridiculous one at that.

I'm just trying to find a reason to use him over Fox.
I play who I enjoy, and I think I find Falco a little bit more fun than Fox at least as of right now. But I truly enjoy characters that are both fun and viable at a high (eventually: top) level.
Perhaps I should take my thoughts somewhere else. I'll stop flooding the tourney rep thread, haha

I'm actually maining him and trying to put Falco on top of the tourneys. I got 13th recently http://smashboards.com/rankings/smashdown-4-ssb4.8895/event?id=8
I'm sure I could have succeed getting top 8 if I played more carefully but I didn't have experience so my bad.

He's viable if you put time to know his strenghts, weaknesses and learning his match-ups. Definitely not the easiest character to take if you want to win things "with less disadvantage".

South Dakota had Bravo take The Smash Mine #2. No bracket, but here's grand finals vs. Schwing's Captain Falcon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbWxvaf1EAg. Also, evidence that Delfino Plaza promotes degenerate play. :p

Edit: South Australia's rank 6 player, Con, took 4th? with Falco: http://safgc2015.challonge.com/SSBWiiUFinals.

And Abbadon and CobaltJustice took 3rd and 4th with a mixture of Falco, Fox, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, and some other characters for North Corner Smash's October tournament: http://challonge.com/58bbuapz.

It's been a while, everyone!
Recently, I had decided to take a small break from attending anything competitive so I've only been playing Wi-Fi with friends and whatnot, but I'm back! I might attend Genesis 3; Keitaro asked me to do double Falco in teams with him, so that should be hype. :surprised:

Anyway, I attended this tournament earlier today: http://thetrainingroom.challonge.com/SLWU1
(I'll try to attend each of these biweeklies from now on)
I got 5th out of 51.
I do believe I could have done a little better, but complaining wouldn't solve anything.

ImHip's :4olimar: took me out in Winners with a 2-0 victory. This is the 3rd set I've lost to him, and the 4th set I've lost to an Olimar. Still having some difficulties understanding how to handle this match up.

I lost 2-1 to a :4metaknight: in Losers. Game 3 was a close match and could have gone either way, but your boy chokes :p. This is also the 2nd time I've been eliminated by one. Is there anyone here that has experience with this match up? Personally, I believe Meta Knight wins the MU. Especially now with the new shield changes.

Not many people know this, but within my small break I've decided to start taking :4marth: seriously again, and I might start using him more often. I switched off Falco for Marth game 2 of my set with ImHip and did significantly better. But aside from that, I solo'd the rest of the tournament with Falco.

Also, an irrelevant fact that I feel like stating is this will be the last tournament I attend at the age of 14, since my birthday is next week. :)

Aye good stuff, we should play over wifi sometime! Also glad to know I'm not the only 14 year old Falco main who goes to toruneys XD

Eliwood took first for Ranking n°24 SSB4 Meltdown Grenoble, a tournament held in, ya guessed it, Grenoble, France. He used Falco and Link... Not sure about his other characters if he has any since only grand finals was uploaded as far as I'm aware. Challonge: http://challonge.com/fr/zn3s57tk.

Eliwood's Falco vs. BeatBy38_Hantome's Captain Falcon: https://youtu.be/QqaK6AlJJqI. This is just the first match of grand finals; Eliwood switches to an impressive Link for the second match: https://youtu.be/z2sVYGcazPk. Also, I have no idea how he gets those Dairs and that Bair bait to dash attack was pretty nifty.

Edit: Keitaro took first in Smash 4-Ever #28: http://challonge.com/s4e28. Grand finals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INgQ2TtoNEc.

Marth definitely has a decent MU against Olimar and possibly a better MU against MK.

It's weird that you guys say that because I originally picked up falco solely for the olimar matchup because how much it was pissing me off as a lucina main.

FOW takes The Blast Zone - Christmas Special 2015 using Falco and Ness. His Falco showed up against, for whatever reason, Xero's Rosalina and in grand finals against Lycan's Diddy Kong and Wario. Bracket: http://vegassmash.challonge.com/tbz2015xmassingles.

FOW's set against Xero here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAK9V--gEOQ, and FOW's set against Lycan's Diddy Kong and Wario here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tpn_ord0Gc. The rest of the tournament is on Vegas Smash, so if you're looking to see some other players like more of Lycan or Xero, then they're up there.

Edit: Nick Riddle took 1st Rise of the Low Tiers 2 with a mixture of Falco, Marth, and Mewtwo while True Blue took 5th and Xaltis took 9th: http://versus.challonge.com/s4lowtier2. Matches posted in the video thread.

So, apparently a Falco showed up at Sumabato... and it was Aki's. I didn't know Aki even had a Falco. Also, I'm going to guess MASA is a Ness main and Falco's a secondary or character he just plays for fun and for the Falco-only tournaments on tamisuma.jp.
Top 8 for Sumabato had no overlapping characters.

1) Komorikiri :4bayonetta:

2) Sigma :4tlink:

3) Gomamugitya :4lucario:

4) Atelier :rosalina:

5) Aki :4sheik: / :4ryu: / :4falco:

5) Saiya :4falcon:

7) MASA :4ness:

7) Nagahari :4diddy:

Top 8 for Umebura, on the other hand, had 3 Sheiks/3 Clouds (and secondaries)

1) Rain :4sheik: / :4cloud:

2) Hayato :4tlink:

3) Nietono :4sheik:

4) Nariyasu :4cloud: / :4mario:

5) Eim :4sheik:

5) Nyanko :4bayonetta:

7) Umeki :4peach:

7) Kamemushi :4cloud: / :4megaman:

All matches for both will be uploaded to SHI-Gaming shortly

I host monthly tournaments with some friends in the North West of England in the United Kingdom. Out of 44 people, I came joint 5th. I used Peach in Winners but got taken out and sent to losers so decided to stick with Falco throughout losers. Got taken out by a very good Shulk in the loser quater finals. My tag was SSM | Toast and my bracket is here.

http://challonge.com/StreetSmashManchesterSmashDash

I also had some of my games captured and will post it once I have edited it.

I'm very happy to say that I finally went to my first tourney. However I thought it was a local, turned out it was a regional. 80 entrants for WiiU maybe that's not big idk?...

Anyways: I placed 25th Playing Falcrow most of the time. I played Mewtwo vs a Greninja and a Luigi in pools. After losing the first match.

I got a lot of props about my play.

"Thanks for putting the black back in Falco" person I beat in bracket said that to me. I thought that was hilarious, we all know the Black people and Falco joke lol

Plus I won a copy of Pokken tournament from a raffle, CRAZY!

At 2GGT: FOW Saga this past Saturday, AC, Keitaro and I all solo'd Falco through the entire tournament and got decent results.

AC and I both tied for 33rd. I think we both had the potential to get top 32, we just need to perform slightly better next time.
Keitaro managed to get 25th, which is great.

There were 356 attendees at this tournament, so I'd say we had a pretty good run!

Hawaii's biggest tourney, and my very first. Repped the bird the whole time. 33rd out of 128. Won at least 1 game every set. In winners, lost 2-1 to a Luigi/Olimar, set was pretty even. In losers, lost 2-1 to a Corrin, also very even. Both guys told me I had a solid bird, and that I should come out to more tourneys.

Overall, I feel like I did okay for my first tourney. Could've done better, but oh well. Was a little disappointed that I couldn't play on stream or against any of the guys we flew down here (even if I got rekt, just playing them would've been cool) Will continue to rep the bird, since I haven't seen anyone else use him, and a lot of people said they don't know the MU here.

Round 1: Duck Hunt (idk MU, reflected everything lol) - won (2-0) (apparently he can kick out a can that hits both characters at the end of Falco's jab, noted)
Round 2: Luigi - won / Olimar (idk MU) - lost (2-1)
Losers 2: DQ'd - win
Losers 3: Shulk - won (2-0)
Losers 4: Corrin - lost (2-1)
