I don't believe there's anything inherently wrong with the "que son," it's just unnecessary. Likewise, I'm not sure "los" is strictly necessary, but I keep saying it when I say the sentence in my head, so I'm going with my instincts here. I'm sure a native speaker can confirm this/correct me further.

Hehe, my writing in Spanish is pretty terrible. I just write as I say it to be honest.
Not really sure whether mine is right or wrong, but your corrections seems more logical and accurate.
Never taken Spanish classes either until this coming year.
