^ what does that even have to do with anything?

'Whose' is used to show possession of an object. For example, "whose dog is this" or as Ryker hilariously pointed out earlier, "whose education is lacking?"

'Whose' is the genitive-case of 'who', whereas 'whom' is the dative and the accusative.

"Who is this?"
"Whose house is this?"
"You give the book to whom?
"You love whom?
