I don't see why you're linking me to a chess primer. Are you trying to imply something I'm overlooking? The only possibilities are...

i made a cool banner, been workin on it all night, its awesome, thx eggz for ideas and concepts.
ya i suck at insultation, so what. that makes me a bad person? i admit i hit a dry spot with the chess thing, its not like i had a lot to go with that.

I will play anyone in chess btw. I play it for fun and I've gotten a lot better, to the point where I'd say I'm an intermediate player who can compete decently. I'm by no means an expert, I don't study openings or games, casual chess play is stimulating enough for me.
As far as stimiulating more than chess. I'd venture to say no, at least normally. For one, Chess is basically a ditto match (black and white tend to have some different strategies for openings and general offense/defense of course). Secondly, smash is IMO more straight forward; juist get the other guy off the edge; chess has more mixups and options. On the other hand, the psychologicla game (where the real mental stimulation tends to come from) can be just as strong in either game. The better you are at Smash the more mentally stimulating it can be. Chess has turns, so time isn't usually a big deal.
ANYWAYS, here's your tournament info. the rules are on page 48 or 49 I think. I think I'll call the tournament SRZ BZNS

What is your schedule like this quarter? When are you free to smash?
As far as when I'm available
Mondays and Wednesdays I have class until 2:15, after that I am free.
I'm free to smash in Spokane after 5 on Thursdays. I work downtown from 1-5, then I could take the bus to your house or you could pick me up to go play somewhere.
Fridays are nearly completely free for me this quarter... so if you want to come over after class to play, I'm down.
Saturdays I work from 10 to 3, so making Casual Fridays will be difficult, since I have to be in Cheney by 9:30.

I think I should be in the center of the banner (Young Link) holding my MIGHTY Kokiri Sword with FLAMES swirling around it..and...AND meteors falling from the sky by my command! I should also be portrayed as A GARGANTUAN CRUSHING stupid top tier charachters at my feet! I will have my legion (you guys) next to me (ant-size of course) and I shall have the power to cause CATASTROPHES and DESTRUCTION throught the entire smash universe!!!!

my advice would be to drop everyone but fox, because mewtwo and yoshi are so bad its basically impossible to amount to anything unless you are japanese or really tall and black.

No Nathen says that it's a "small tourney" and doesn't require one. I don't think that just because it's not a large tourney means that we don't need a thread for it, right? I mean this forum IS talking about tournaments wheather they be big or small, it's still a tourney and it needs to be separate to help different points/ topics that needs individual discussing and would be unorthodox to have that in this thread IMO.

At this point in time I don't know if I am coming on FRIDAY. However, I am going to come up on Saturday. What time should I show up, and I couldn't get the mapquest to work for it. What's the name of the place we're smashing at ? Perhaps I am ********. Anyways, as of right now the status on Friday is unsure but count me and hopefully two of my buddies down for the tourney.

Okay so I uploaded some videos using Adobe Premiere but the filesize is ridiculously high, does anyone know I can compress them to MPEG-4 and a smaller resolution? Or what program should I use instead (Adobe won't let me change the dimensions =\)

A good compression program is Autodesk Cleaner XL... but it's not easy to get your hands on. I might be coming up with RC. Huzza.
