ALRIGHT. ATTENTION EASTERN WA. It has been forever since I have made it out your way, however I am going to almost positively come down this Friday. The more the better. I hope to see you and smash with you all.
Trust me, it's going to snow that dayALRIGHT. ATTENTION EASTERN WA. It has been forever since I have made it out your way, however I am going to almost positively come down this Friday. The more the better. I hope to see you and smash with you all.
lol, yeah. i'm awesome at mkds. or i was, i guess. i stopped playing online after about four months of owning it.Yeah, I like this icon more. It's been my symbol on Mario Kart DS for almost a year now :D. Speaking of.. does anyone play that? We should play sometime, I like that game.
QFT, we suck balls.Okay. Few things
1: Brady: I love you the most.
2: Bart: I love you the most...too. >_>;
Actual reason im posting:
RedYoshi, instead of reporting to a mod because you can't react to flaming properly (sarcasm, incase your 12 and can't detect it ever), don't post dumb things.
By the way, that was Otto and I that edited your profile, not Nate. So yeah. Forgot I was logged into his account. Nates a really nice guy and doesn't insult people when they act the fool mangz.
I went through your guys' smash wiki's and organized them and deleted redundant or ******** information like on Metroid's wiki.
"He is currently getting better at smash"
No. ****ing. ****.
Anyways, not flaming, I'm just telling you I organized your wiki profiles, but since I don't know **** about you guys, you'll have to fill in what I couldn't.
Also, RedYoshi...next time you want to put information into a wiki, PM me with what your going to put in, and I'll re-write it using good english. Savvy?
You guys arn't pro-am. You're not semi-pro. You're amatuer. Metroid (one of your top players) came over to our GC and wasn't even as good as one of our non-PR players. What we consider nubs definitly doesn't constitute as semi-pro. Again, not flaming, just don't overrate yourself and post false information.
I'm not having a smash elitest attitude. I'm having a don't do dumb **** on things I spend alot of time contributing to...ist attitude. >_>; Open source editing requires a deal of responsibility and intelligence when editing (Get it? Irony because I flamed via open source editing?) So I don't see why asking for you to post with at least correct english is that big of a deal to ask.icraq said:Heh....
I guess I shouldn't be getting involved, since I'm not really involved with the Spokane scene, but I am sensing "smash bros elitist attitude" from Eggz, after going through his sugar coating of calling all who play in Spokane 'nubz'.
So since they havn't known eachother long, they shouldn't be prone the basic paragraph construction and providing accurate information on a site designed to compile accurate information? Ah. My bad.icraq said:You're talking very high and mighty, but you're not even taking into consideration that Spokane smashers haven't even known of each other for very long. The first time a person posted about setting up meetings in Spokane for playing smash was about 4 months ago. Heh, and it didn't even get started right away.
The wiki isn't regional. It's a worldwide compilation of open source information. I'm not really concerned about the skill level, because just about every entry in there is labeled as pro, which definitly shouldn't be so. I'm more concerned about RedYoshi, a 13 year old kid editing every wiki he comes across.icraq said:Who cares what they post on a wiki, anyways? It's not like people are going to be looking up the Spokane Smash Scene and going "Hey, these guys are pros, I bet they're gods." These people here might not be pros on a world scale, or semi pros, or whatever. But hell, I'd call them pros in a regional scale, because they're still pretty **** good and they're just going to get better. They don't get to play against a ton of people, and they've rarely had matches to train until after October '06.
Last I checked I got good from playing my best friend and his brother for fun occasionally before, after, and during school all before bedtime, so don't worry, the people surrounding you has nothing to do with how fast you get good. Brain power and dexterity is what this game is about. Not who you know.icraq said:So yeah, take advantage ridiculing people because of the fact you come from a highly populated area. Not everyone will know better, but I do. The people here are **** good for what they have available to them.
Give me a break icraq, you ******* who fail at english sicken me.icraq said:And give RedYoshi a break, Eggz. You grammar whores sicken me.
Precisely what I was aiming for. When did I overrate myself? When did I state anything aside from fact? I didn't issue a single personal flame as far as my recollection serves, so I don't see how I could have possibly been being a jerk. I didn't even directly imply a lack of skill. I just said their best fought our worst and came out on bottom, so I don't think they should be pros. A fact, not an insult.icraq said:Again, not flaming, just don't overrate yourself and be a jerk.
That's exactly what I'm talking aboot. That's why you're my favorite Brady...you have a brain. =/ </doesn't know anyone but Brady.> I'll address ICraq's post in a double post after this LOL </Otto is gonna warn me when I go home>Eggz <3.
I skimmed the last few posts by iCraq and Eggz because they're about 19 paragraphs too long to read and I honestly have no time to read them. But bottom line is: Adam, there's no denying that they're way better than us. When RedYoshi put that some of us were semi-pro, it pissed me off as well. We're not... but we're all getting better. Everyone is getting better. Even pros have gotten better in the past several months the Spokane scene has been growing and getting better. I say we excel and try catch up with some of the better players of Washington.
Eggz is right, if we want to be respected by the rest of the Smash community we can't label everyone in Spokane as semi-pro. If we put at least accurate information into our wiki pages we'll at least earn respect and get involved with the rest of the community. Western has a lot that Eastern can learn from, whether it's when we visit them or they visit us (if they can, ever, which would be sweet)
Sorry for using synonyms. My bad.I personally don't care about the moderation of a wiki, and I wasn't making a point of it. I'm not against you fixing inaccurate information. You just did something I felt was jerk-like: stating Spokane players as: "What we consider nubs". You didn't just state "un-pro".
Sorry, but while we are forced to live among what some refer to as "friends", we develop slang that sounds funnier. I'd rather say nub than newbie because newbie sounds ****ing ********.Icraq said:I've not been playing Smash for very long. Though, I've been playing online games for quite some time. It's not the fact you're calling a person by a derogatory name because of their skill level in a game that bothers me; rather, it's that you're referring to the person as a "nub", because the word in it's self makes no sense.
I'm pretty sure picking at my word preference isn't going to make you appear like any less of an ***. Nub is what I say. I don't care if you prefer saying "Newbie" or "Person of less skill". I tell it how it is.icraq said:It wouldn't be pronounced "newbie", essentially it's just pronounced how it's spelled, NUH-Buh. To use just such an abomination of an abbreviated and already nasty word. That is what bothers me. (NEW B would work, but no one uses it with the space in there. Same with NOOB.)
Newbie is one of my least favorite. I don't give a ****.icraq said:Quite possibly, it's one of my least favorite words, even if you could call it that. I can go into it more, if you'd like.
How about instead of being new to a community, and giving what you believe to be the definition of a word, you look at how everyone else in the community uses for it. I've never heard anyone say newbie. It's either noob, or nub, usually.Icraq said:Newbie (assuming that's what you mean by NUB) would be equivalent to a person who is ENTIRELY untrained to an activity, or skill. It's not an exact definition, but in common vernacular that's how it would be used. What the internet has done in the last ten years is take that word and for some reason, misspell it, and give it an entirely new meaning. Now it's so common it can be used as some sort of insult, or flame. Typically it has to do with lack of skill, according to the accuser's standard, or just to generally say to a person "You suck."
Again, as teenagers of the 21st century, we have to use what is commonly referred to as "slang", which may include taking words that mean something else and giving them a new meaning.Icraq said:The word nub, in real life conversation, would mean something along the lines of a lump of flesh or something. I'm not quite sure how to use it in a sentence. "Hey, there's a nub of flesh growing on your neck." Which, I know is not the intention of how the word is to be used. There's this invisible marker that tells us it's pronounced NEW BEE, but I still read it as NUB and just a stupid thing to say. Because really, all it shows is your basic lack of ability to form a proper word of your own, without falling back on some weak, pathetic internet standard of insult.
Don't think you had any affect on me at all. Eastern WA mainly has nubs. I used the word once and you called me on it. Good job. Sorry I switched it up and didn't use nub the entire time.Icraq said:Maybe I misinterpreted you entirely. Your response didn't really give me that impression, you chose your words more carefully now that you've been called on it.
English is required to present a point accurately. Sorry. It's just the way it is. Also, I didn't understand most of the last paragraph. Seriously. Irony for ya there. "englsh r uselss. additionalunintelligableramblings"icraq said:My English skillz aren't of significance to me. Neither are yours. As long as we all make an effort to do our best, that is all that matters.
Still, insulting MY grammar, now, like I said before, grammar whores do make me sick. If and I took sentence that made senes still and yeah it was reading hard but possible maybe you still would attack use of word choice regardless if english proper or not i dont like it???/
Quite untrue. People improve at different rates. Wanna know why that is? Your environment influences you, and depending on how much you've expanded the capability of your mind, you could be better or worse without genius. Smarter people are better at the game. Experience goes a long way too, but you can surpass experience with genius. This game is about reading people. To do that you need logic, dexterity, and good cause-and-effect realization.Icraq said:I'm glad you had nice siblings to play with. Whether or not you're from a big city doesn't matter, you're right. Though, you didn't prove it doesn't help having people who like to play with you on a really regular basis. You're not just born with some magical smash brain, it's something that's learned, just like any skill. Like music, sports, or other miscellaneous activities, those skills are improved upon when we practice with others. I can't necessarily say for everyone, because I don't know anyone that well here, but playing with others is something new to just about everyone in Spokane.
When people inaccurately label themselves and provide an entourage of unnecessary information, why should they earn respect? Some eastern WA smashers already have my respect. Brady, Chip, Peaches, SLyD, they've all been cool guys. The rest I either don't know, or bother me a lot.Icraq said:Yeah, it's an open source wiki. Open. While it's not Spokane's wiki, only Spokane is going to care about their own information at this point. There's not any pros, semipros, and they are all technically 'amateurs'. Still, they deserve a little bit more respect than being generally labeled as less than 'nubs'
I don't have a job yet and my college classes haven't started back up yet. Thanks for asking.Icraq said:Anyways, if it's giving RedYoshi something to do with his time, it's better than getting into trouble. Except, shouldn't you have something better to do with your time than worry about this?
Yeah, I'm a ****in' riot. =D I understand your point, I'm just saying I wasn't intending to hurt the community. Sorry to Eastern WA if I did that. You guys are still cool in my book (except RedYoshi).Icraq said:Again, I represent no one except the Madam I'm Adam Party. My statements don't reflect any body else's in the world. And yes, this subject represents my own views and therefore I feel like any time unjustifiably labels a group negatively that I must offer my own outside view point.
Eggz, I'm sure you're a great guy in person, the internet just makes people jerkfaces.

Ka Master and I started out playing only eachother in a very small western town called Sultan. Ka won the first tournament he attended, and we never met anyone but gimpy before that. GGz.metroid said:it's just a dumb wiki that no one is going to read guys, calm the **** down. there's no reason to molest everyone's use of english, slang, and leet speak just because one person thought people were good. I'm almost positive that no one in eastern thinks that they're the best in the country. Rubbing it in our face doesn't make it any more or less true.
Also, are you trying to say that competition base has nothing to do with skill? It's just a coincidence that all the top players are from bigger cities/states? That if your only competition is 5 year olds that live more then 3 miles away, but you have "genius" you'll be able to beat the best?
No, basically all of us are ***** to people who act like asshats. You were right on the mark.icraq said:It's kind of fun having someone prove your own argument by giving them enough subjects to ramble on about.
Since you can state Eastern Washington is full of "nubs" because you played one dude from here, I'm going to say Western Washington is full of "lamers". I don't know why I pick the word lamer, it has little meaning, but if you didn't know, Lamer was what the internet people called other people before the word "noob" was invented! My only basis for this? Because I had this conversation with a guy named Eggz on a forum, who was a jerkface and generally labeled a nice group of people who I don't think deserve to be so poorly generalized.
I don't truly think that of WW, or of any group of people. But that would be a fair example of what you did in your first post, was generalize all of the Spokane-area.
