E3 - Brawl - Make it or Break it...

Well, a lot's NOT been going on recently and people are thinking... "Eh...What's happening at E3? Info or no info? Whats the dealio dammit?"

Well, I don't exactly know myself, but here's an insight on Nintendo's past that may give an idea...

People are wondering what's gonna happen at E3, are we gonna get some Brawl info or not? Anything really - new characters, new stages - items, anything...

Thing is Nintendo's known for holding back info for months just to add hype an continue the suspense, remember Twilight Princess? Delaynig it for over a year... Then finally releasing it for the Wii + Gamecube... Kept that one quiet for a long time.

Thing is, Nintendo like to hold things back an tease us, mean I wouldn't be surprised if they just showed us Yoshi an maybe Donkey Kong - two fighters who we can guarantee WILL appear in the game... It's just how it is, Nintendo like to play about with the public. So there is a extremely small chance we'll see new characters announced (Sonic, Crono, Michael Jackson)...

Sure Nintendo is known to give a huge surprise everytime once in a while for a game... But that surprise was Snake, an we might not see another surprise...

It'd be awesome to see a totally new character confirmed, but tha'd slow down the hype Brawl has, they'll be an uproar for a month, then it'd just die again....

Whatever we may see at E3, it may just be a small trailer of Yoshi pratting about chasing DK on a Donkey Kong stage...

Now, lets take this into a different perspective.

At E3, Nintendo WILL be up against Microsoft and Sony, so they will want to release something big to catch the attention of Journalists an etc, so the Game Magazines new headline will be "____ ANNOUNCED FOR BRAWL" and just leave Micro and Sony in the advert pages...

Just like last year's E3, Nintendo may decide to drop a huge bombshell, announce a few new characters including a 3rd party character (Crono hopefully, although most likely Sonic) - that will certainly turn heads accross the hall.

Furthermore, lets face it, it's been a year now, a yea and only 2 trailers. Both good yes, but it's time for a final trailer to seal the deal. To let Microsoft and Sony know that this so called "kiddy konsole" called the "wii" is here and it's here to compete an rattle Micro+Sony down to the ground.

Look at what Micro's done, to continue the hype of Halo3, they're releasing the Multiplayer in May... That's certainly gonna sell a few thousand more 360's (Just a side note here. I got fed up waiting for Brawl info, my friend gave me his 360 for a week, I turned on Halo2, loved it - and 3 weeks later, here I am, with my 360. I'm not saying Nintendo has lost a gamer, I'm still gonna get the Wii, just not during the summer... I will literally buy it a week before Brawl is out. Till then, my 360 will do me fine)

Back on topic now, Nintendo will not want to lose gamers to the other two companies, so may very well decide to kill the competition by announcing something huge at E3.

Let's face it, with Halo 3 already having a release date and BETA out soon Nintendo are gonna have to do something. (I'm not even gonna comment on Sony, because I did pre-order my PS3, but with the pathetic line up they gave, I asked for my deposit back).

Anyways, thats a view from both sides.

The Sneaky Suspense Nintendo - and the All out Killer Nintendo.

What's going to happen at E3? Don't know, and frankly I think Nintendo may be making a big mistake if they don't release some solid info, as Halo 3's hype is just beginning...

Well done indeed... tsk, now you're getting me excited for E3. When is it anyway?
no idea lmao lmao lmao lmao, I heard it was either may or July =|

Personally, I think Nintendo is going to reveal something big that will capture the headlines of the next month's newspapers.

Let me sa ythis..If MGS4 is really good and suddenly starts selling the PS3. Nintendo can kiss their ***** good bye. I mean how the hell is Nintendo going to compete with Halo 3? Besides Gears Of War is still selling games anyways. It's no like Nintendo isn't going to do anything. Nintendo will continue to dominate the handheld market with it's DS. But....Nintendo better make announcments of the following.

1.Online Multi.
2.SSBB characters.
3.MP3 Release Date
4.Mario Galaxy Release Date
5...And finally. More VC updates.

MGS4 will be good, but far as I know, they havn't even announced a date for it yet - so it may come out in 08...And htis i a major factor.

There is literally NO point in getting MGS4 if you havn't played the other 3, the storyline will be a never ending maze - MGS series do have a strong storyline, gameplay is great yes, but if you don't understand the story and the reason behind the objects then there is no point playing it. I don't think A LOT of people have played all 3 and will play the 4th... (If you know what I mean?)

Halo, okay sure it has 1 and 2, but really what's great about it is the balance and the gameplay.

SSBB, well, gameplay is its key feature.

DK, also, I've got Gears of War, its a great game, graphics, gameplay and online - everythings great. But, Nintendo can't always focuse everything on the HandHeld market and leave it's home console 2nd best everytime...

Online has been announced from Brawl, not officially, but it has been said that Brawl will have it. So don't worry there.

EDIT: Forgot to say - sooner or later Micro will catch up with Nintendo and if that happens.... Nintendo's gonna have a hard time getting back up with all 3 Major games being released for this year (Mario, Metroid + Brawl)

Personally, I STILL don't think Nintendo has good 3rd party support, I can't see any strong 3rd party games out for the Wii... Which worries me

They have more third party than they did last year. So it doesn't matter there. What I am saying is that sure...Having a game like the Dragon Ball Z game on the Wii is fun but without the Online play it's get boring fast. They haven't made an announcement yet, or how it will work or a even a glimpse at it. It's just like out in the dust. Nintendo promised us that we would have Online gaming as the year rolled around. It's April now..and zlich.

I expect to see all of/most of the default characters and stages, as well as items and screens/videos with all the proper additions (%s and stock) by E3. I don't expect to see any new characters, because at this point all new characters will be secret. We'll also get a release date.

And Sony's going to need more than one game to make a comeback.

Ahh, I understand what you're saying know DK, you're right - I love Tenkaichi, I've got it fo rthe ps2, but it is boring on one player, you need a friend/ online player to have it last for a long time, atleast till the next one is out.

I think Nintendo are actually being a tad naive here, the Wii is doing well, but comon, be honest - it's little kids an parents that areplaying it. People that don't usually go too deep into games like us teenagers. Two kids can play Wii Sports forever and not get bored. Two teenagers, after 2 hours that's the end of it then.

IcyMatt has a valid point too, reason why I'm not counting Sony as being a challenge for the next 6 months is due to the lack of AAA titles - one game isn't going to change the world into believing Sony's PS3 is the killer konsole. Need to do a lot more than that to get back on the game.

Sony made a huge mistake showing the GTA IV trailer so early, they should have showed it at E3, also I heard MGS4 will be delayed til 08, so dont expect much, sure sony has killzone and the devil may cry game that gonna come out, but thats it...

Nintendo HAS to show online at E3, its what were all waiting for!, also Icymatt chill (lol Icy, chill haha I kill myself) the pokemon game for the wii will be released a few weeks/months after diamon and pearl, which will be released on april 22nd, and it will have online, still im no pkmn fan, so im not gonna get it, im gonna get MK armageddon isntead, man wish it had online...

the next game to have online I believe is Strikers and batallion wars ii, I REALLY want batallion wars, it has online multiplayer, including vs, co-op and much more, that gonna be one sweet game, also hoping MP3 gets multiplayer a la Hunters as well but I wouldnt get my hopes up...

Yeah, Pokemon will be online in June. Europeans are getting Strikers in May, so I hope the rest of the world will get it soon after. Batallion Wars II and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games are also confirmed to be online.

Also, apparently there are still some exciting Wii games we don't know about yet. We're just going to have to wait and see.

lmao, yeah I heard that too, that's a huge blow for Sony, DMC series are quite popular and Dante is one cool cat. That's quite a big loss for Sony. Also, isn't GTA meant to be for the 360 too?

yea E3 is always in may. i think there is a pretty solid chance that nintendo will pu out some brawl info...although it might be minimal. but even if they dont talk about brawl, they will have some big news about something else on their consoles. they always do. it's really just a wait and see kind of situation...peace

Yeah I don't even care about it anymore, I've got enough to keep me busy between A Link to the Past, Fire Emblem (GBA ones) and Super Paper Mario, not to mention a bunch of RPGs I randomly picked up like FF XII and IX... By the time I'm done with all of this, something will be out, and I still won't need to wait. Especially if it's Goddess of Dawn.

Having said that though, you would think news could come out before E3 this year, seeing as online launches before it...but I don't expect anything.

Please, no news on Mario... I'm fed up with that over weight plumber running around collecting coins fighting that mutant turtle/bull imbreed....

Seriously, if Nintendo's big announcement is anything to do with Mario Galaxy's release date and very few info on Brawl, I shan't be happy...

Wikipedia: "E3 was previously held in the third week of May of each year at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) in Los Angeles. In 2007, the show will be held in Santa Monica, California from July 11 to July 13."

Wikipedia IS reliable
LOLOLOLOLOLOL

I've stopped caring about whether any new Brawl info is released. By making us wait so long, they've basically sapped any remaining excitement out of me. We haven't had any new info for several months and in all honesty, I think this game will be released in late December.

Good call. For those who don't want to read it, here's the jist of what he said in two simple bullets:

*Nintendo will release Brawl information. /insert information pointing to why they would do this\

OR

*Nintendo won't release Brawl information. /insert reason they wouldn't.\

Genius!

Nintendo would do well to give a little insignificant teaser. As most should know, the standard character for melee were provided a few weeks before it was released in Japan, and theres been a hint that it will be the case for Brawl. Theres no point telling us a whole bunch of characters if that pre release info will add more to suspense. Essentially, giving us a little fact to "appease the beast" will only keep us from forming an angry mob to destroy nintendo. Essentially, we'll never be satisfied until it's released. And I agree with 56k. I believe we all have ridiculously unrealistic expectations of when Brawl will actually be released. Late fall is my prediction. Nintendo shouldn't have given us a trailer so early...

I believe I heard somewhere that Sakurai will reveal 1 character a week untill launch date. starting x weeks before it launches. x being the number of unrevealed characters at that point in time. I'm not entirely sure about this though.

If you're expecting 40 at the least, I'd say prepare to be disappointed.

Yeah.. I'm expecting 30 at the least. 40 would appease me... but I just hope for at least 30.

Wait, doesn't E3 suck now? I thought last year was like the last "good" E3, and now it's all business or some crap?

Okay, I know the Wii isn't that strong a console, but comon, 40 is a minimum.

It's not about power or room, I am fairly certain Melee could have had some more in it as well.
It's about what they'll do, what they will add. For some reason, I don't expect over 30 characters... anything less than would be disappointing to me.

I say about 45 character, I mean the disc size the wii uses has about double the space that the ones of the GC has, also melee had 26, 30 would just be 4 more characters - the ones that will get cut thats about 4 new characters now shown? please I expect 40 characters, max. 45, and I hope what that guy about showing one new characters every week b4 x weeks brawls launch is true XD
