As you can see, Pikachu, Kirby, and Sanic are sticking out of their borders.
Now you may think this means nothing, but listen to this. Before the April Smash Direct, Pikachu was sticking out of his border. Then we got Charizard and Greninja.

Sonic was most likely hinting Pac-Man here, since they are both 3rd Parties.
So that leaves Pokémon, and Kirby characters.

Who do you think they'll be.

Personally, I'm going for Mewtwo and/or Jigglypuff for Pokémon, and Meta Knight (and MAYBE Bandana Dee, but I don't want to sound greedy for newcomers) for Kirby.

Pikachu, Kirby, and Sonic stick out of their borders for artistic reasons.

Pikachu wouldn't look right with his ears cut-off, Kirby is pretty small anyway, and his feet are a big part of his incredibly simplistic design, so they need to show it, and for Sonic, they are emphasising his speed and energetic personality, by making it look like he is running out of his border, as well as showing off one of his iconic pair of shoes.

I can only see veterans being confirmed today, like Captain Falcon, Ness, Mr GAW. I'm guessing we might see a newcomer tomorrow. I'm only saying this because E3 is an massive event and Nintendo will want to boost sales of the consoles, so why not release tons of information on Smash

I think we might get a demo session on the Treehouse live stream, and we'll get one or two veterans. They've already shown that the Treehouse demos are different than the floor demos on some games, so it's perfectly possible we'll see someone there we haven't seen yet. My money's on Ganondorf, Wario, and/or Mr. Game and Watch, since they've already been teased.
