Alright I have had enough of this Icon crap.

You don't know squat. It's Sakurai that is calling the shots, he can do whatever he wants. Maybe he skipped icons for a reason. Maybe he never skipped them at all. Where is your proff that's he's missing icons?

He can pull out anything out of his hat. Pictochat stage is a perfect example of that. He can fool you he can do what he wants. It's his game. Maybe he implied the missing symbols. Or maybe he's got his own formula.

we haven't even seen any reference to Game and Watch yet. And yet somehow people keep on believing Sakurai is missing an icon.

The icons are numbered, dude. Mr. G&W is still coming.

But I do agree, that each icon doesn't require a character.

No thanks I don't want any spoilers.

EDIT: Also I should point out that, just because there are two empty spots doesn't mean there will be only two more series introduced into the game. People thought that icon 20 (Sonic's icon) was the end, there will be no more than 20 series in the game. This update proved that wrong. And by people I mean the guys at my school and another community I go to.

Honestly, who knows? As JPW said, Sakurai's calling the shots, and if he wants to add a friggin' DS as a playable character, he **** well can.

Seriously guys, why not Kawahima? He's kind of the Mario of casula games, if you will, since the original Brain Age marked Nintendo's first success in appealing to casual gamers. He's the second highest ranked character on Sakurai's poll (tied with the likes of Diddy and Ike) and he could have a moveset consisting of.... er.... math equations? Sure, why not.

There is the somewhat troublesome matter of him being a floarting head, but Sakurai could always design a body for him based on the ACTUAl real life Dr. Kawashima. It would be the ultimate WTF development and the perfect "casual games"representative.

And, hypothetically speaking, if you were to design a stage for the good doctor... why not picto-chat?

Now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there wont' be a representitve for the DS...

Or Animal Crossing for that matter.

Yeah, that's right. I mean, every possible AC character has been de-confirmed, so I'm left with nothing else to say except that there's going to be stages and universes without characters to represent them.

NO!!!!!!!! Come on, this just reveals that not all ****ing franchises have playable characters!!
No...

That is one possibility. There is also the possibility that it represents a DS character. Until we have some more information, that is the only truth.

I agree, that was my point of bringing up the brainage characters and even hardware characters like ROB. While the stage itself can be representive of Pictochat, We have no idea whats Sakurai plans to do with the game so neither side can claim that they are right at this point.

Sir Stylus is the best idea anyone has said so far. And it really doesn't sound that hard to believe.

I actually think that there could be a "Sir Stylus", or "Mr. Stylus", or whatever they decide to call him. What better character to represent the PictoChat stage than the thing you use to draw with?

Dr. Lobe, Professor Kawasevertheheckhisnameis, and Tetris block wouldn't make sense because their icons and stages would be from their own games, not from DS.

Mii would have a Wii icon.

I say Sir Stylus is the new wtf character of Brawl.

Yea, I to doubt there will be an AC character. The PictoChat stage just proves that there doesn't HAVE to be a character for every icon.

I think that the DS symbol is the Mii's symbol since Dr. Lobe would have his own symbol (because he has a game on the Wii) and Elite Beat Agents deserve to have one (I'll get angry) or it could be a one off symbol only for the level or it means to play the game you must have a DS. I do hope Agent J appears in Brawl alot of his attacks would be funk somehow i reckon he would be similar to Sanji from One Piece.

I read this somewhere that in an interview the director of Animal Crossing said yes their will be an AC playable character in Brawl. Also many people mistake Tom Nook in the background as maybe one of his cousins

Now your just assuming Dr. Lobe would have his own icon...However, you have no proof of that and we DO have proof of the DS Icon...which we don't know what it represents as of yet other than the stage. If the Nintendogs use the DS Icon then even Dr. Lobe could

Yeah, I was thinking about this and I actually think a stylus would make a pretty awesome character. It basically represents the DS and could have some crazy moves, maybe I'll think of a moveset for this character later. For all those people who are saying there wouldn't be a DS character in Brawl, you can't ever say never with Super Smash Bros., unless it is officially confirmed not to be in.

So? It proves he HAD dual screens. So thats one possibility.

Also, what else is it supposed to be? The ringing bell guy again? He already has that as a taunt.. >_>
.....That was his symbol.....

I really can't believe that this update really dropped everyone's intelligence!

I'm sure this will be Touch Generations logo, because the logo in Brawl representing the games, not the company that makes them. If that were true wouldn't Sonics logo be the Sega logo and Snakes logo would be Konamis? I'm almost positive that Nintendogs will have this logo also. Along with anything else that is affiliated with Touch Gen(Elite Beat, Prof. Kawashima, Dr. Lobe etc.).

Okay, tell me a good reasonable DS character.

Go on, enlighten me.

Believe it or not, Nintendo actually calls some Wii games like "Wii Sports" Touch Generations games. (Also Wii Play and Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree) Why do they? Because they are aimed more to the casual gamer, and Nintendo has been making a lot of these casual games for the Wii and DS. I don't think that Touch Generations only has stylus based games, but pretty much any innovative game.

These games are an important part for Nintendo, and were very successful. Sakurai is obviously taking elements from these. (See Nintendog, Pictochat)

Here's a list of games marked as Touch Generations games:
Big Brain Academy
Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day!
Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes A Day!
Clubhouse Games
Electroplankton
Elite Beat Agents
Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day
Magnetica
Master of Illusion
Nintendogs
Picross DS
Planet Puzzle League
Sudoku Gridmaster
Tetris DS
True Swing Golf

Wii Sports
Wii Play
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree

I wouldn't be surprised if a character from one of these games makes it in.

He has his own franchise. If he were to be in, his icon would look something like this:

The DS symbol just represents where Pictochat came from. That's it. Nothing more.

I'm sorry Wiseguy, as much as I love your prediction thread, this is just plain stupid. You, of all people, should know better.

Game and Watch never really have a real symbol if you think about it, since it was just himself....

Its probally his new logo or something.
Why would his logo be used for the PictoChat stage?

Funny how you're the only person to have read this alleged interview...
A lot of people read it. It was all over the internet, including here. But no one could prove that it was real, so it's probably fake.

Now your just assuming Dr. Lobe would have his own icon...However, you have no proof of that and we DO have proof of the DS Icon...which we don't know what it represents as of yet other than the stage. If the Nintendogs use the DS Icon then even Dr. Lobe could
Why would Dr. Lobe or Nintendogs have a DS icon? Mario doesn't have a Wii icon. Their icon would be something from their games. If there is a DS character, it's a character that just represents DS and not a specific game. Sir Stylus is the best possibility I've heard so far.

Okay, tell me a good reasonable DS character.

Sir Stylus. Maybe that sounds ridiculous, but Mr. Game & Watch would have sounded ridiculous if anyone had suggested him before Melee came out.

The PictoChat stage just proves that there doesn't HAVE to be a character for every icon.
No it doesn't, because we don't know that there isn't a DS character.

So? It proves he HAD dual screens. So thats one possibility.

Also, what else is it supposed to be? The ringing bell guy again?>_>
Yes. Everyone else has the same icon. Why would G&W have to get a new one?

He already has that as a taunt.. >_>
Mario already has Mushroom as an item.

The DS icon could represent Touch Generations. I just noticed the Touch Generations logo is different in Japan, North America, and Europe. They could have just use the DS logo because everyone would be familiar with it. The different music choices for the PictoChat stage support this theory, and Touch Generations also fits the icon theory.

And it won't be Professor Kawashima. That's just like thinking Andross could be a playable character. He's more of an AT. It's going to be something like Sir Stylus or Mr. Stylus. Or Stylusy The Styling Stylus.

Yes, but you don't know that...We have to wait until another update for the DS Icon to find that out...

Besides, the music from it is already using the DS Icon for some reason

all stages in melee had their own icons even if no playable character shared them (battlefield and FD are all that come to mid immediately)

That really has nothing to do with anything since no smash has had a franchise without a fighting character in Smash before....The Smash icon was in the least used by anyone that didn't come from a represented franchise...

This could still mean any number of things like how not all AT's even have icons

probably because Characters and stages need icons.
(the icons actually appear in game)

I don't think that there will be any use of the icon in the game for an AT so if the series doesn't already have an icon, then why bother making one just for dojo?
