They aren't adding any more characters or anything this late in development. Before any game is released, they have people who play through every single part over and over checking for bugs. What most likely happened is that they found a major flaw while play testing and they had to go back and fix it, which takes time.

A delayed game is eventually good, but a bad game is bad forever.

Yeah, most my friends at school don't like smash that much and we do other things (I hardly play video games period during fall and spring). I was looking forward to winter break to play it with my cousins and people that like the game.

They do got multiplayer this time which is fun. They shouldn't change the game because of me but it just messes me up. Mario and Sonic at the Olympics here I come (was going to get it either way, but it will be my holiday game now).

I'm not sure that that is it, but you get the point. Theres more red tape and inter and intra company politics style stuff that goes into making a game.

For example, just imagine how long Sega and Nintendo had to talk before allowing the other to create a game using their characters likeness?

And then theres the issue of who made the art for Sonic in SSB. The sounds seem to have come directly from Sega, but I wonder if they made the model as well. Sega would have to approve of a Nintendo made Sonic model to make sure that it is "Sonic" style and quality.

Theres a whole lot more to game development than just programming.

In all honesty, I bet Konami made Snake and his level for game and SEGA made Sonic and his levels for the game.

Note to any other spoiled children reading this thread: if you're going to say things like this, then SHUT UP. Nobody cares about your selfish whining or sense of entitlement. This delay is a mere two months, and it looks to be receiving an amount of polish rarely seen in a video game. The end result will be nothing short of spectacular, and like ALL highly-anticipated games that get delayed, it will be absolutely wonderful when it's released.

For that matter, the same goes for people who feel the need to CONSTANTLY ***** about the updates being underwhelming or inadequate. People complaining about the things like stickers and screenshots need to realize that while these things aren't necessary, they are the little things that separate 9.8 games from 10.0 games. Attention to detail is what sets games like Smash Bros apart from the rest, and it's moronic to think that these things are being added at the expense of more important features. The delay shows that they are not willing to rush a product that lacks important features or polish, so please STOP YOUR COMPLAINING and be grateful that the people in charge of making this game take it as seriously as we do.

First Melee comes out in Japan first, then in melee he has two Japan only characters, over much more reconizable, better, and cooler characters in Wario and Diddy Kong (hating on the west), and then in Brawl he adds Lucas (potential cutting Ness, in which Mother 4 is Japan only, and we'll never get Mother 3), and now this. Sakurai needs a knee to the balls. Seriously. I'll GIVE HIM THE GOROH KNEE IN FACT!

Don't be stupid, they wouldn't delay it for an item. Yeah, it's only a two month delay, but two months is way longer than you'd think. It's more than enough time to fine tune online, tweak mechanics, add characters. Maybe they just got the rights to another third-party (though I doubt it), and they didn't want to ship the game without including it.

Yeah, it sucks, but the game will be better for having been delayed. Come February 11th, you'll agree with me.

1.)They are fixing stuff, do you prefer to buy say a CPU on time with a few parts missing+glitches. Or would you prefer to wait a month to make sure it's not screwed.

Don't know if you know japanese culture, or how they work there. But Japanese people are way way way less lazy than your average American game developers. I know this is stereotyping, cuz i'm sure there are some lazy japanese guys in the gaming industry as I'm sure there are hard working pple in american gaming industry. But for the most part MOST japanese people are not lazy and don't fool around. Atleast way less than americans do.

Sakurai and the Nintendo crew doesn't have to tell you when it's coming out. You want to know, so he trys to meet your expectations and gives you most likely a estimated very likely date. based on planning and scheduled developing. If they fall behidn they know they need to pick it up. Obviously something has caused them to need a big delay. Lot of people think it's sonic. Sonic is worth the delay right?

You all would be alot happier w/o worrying about delays. If they never gave one and just Randomly released it in stores w/o letting you know they were making it. But they had to to try and get more people to look forward to it and get a Wii.

I don't really get why everyone is so surprised by this delay. Nintendo delays games all the time, just like every other company. For anyone that can actually remember Melee was originally planned for a launch title but got delayed just like brawl did. If something isn't done on time based on your standards then you push it back, simple as that. All this will do is increase their sales because they don't have to compete with Halo 3 as much if nothing else. Companies love money just like everyone else.
