I'm sorry, but it's really aggravating how Nintendo places really minor DK characters into Mario games. I understand that, in a way, Donkey Kong is a member of the Mario series, but I'm telling you now, Funky Kong and Dixie are not. So why do they include them in Mario Games? If they do this, why not some freaking Yoshi or WarioWare characters?:mad::mad:

But isn't Donkey Kong forest in some far away part in the mushroom kingdom?

Nintendo's world continuity has always left alot to be desired... It's always been assumed that the Donkey Kong universe co-exists with that of Mario in some fashion, but they've never overtly explained it.

Think about it this way, Donkey Kong was the bad guy in a Mario game long before Bowser was even a twinkle in his daddy's eye, so technically DK has as much of a reason to be there as anybody.

In Most DK games (and I mean the non-Mario games), DK is on his own Island or jungle somewhere. In Mario games, that Jungle isn't very far from Mushroom Kingdom.
Besides, Yoshi also lives pretty far from Mushroom Kingdom, and he is in more Non-spin off Mario games than Donkey Kong.

Nintendo needs to do a Mario/Donkey Kong adventure game. They've assimilated the worlds of both enough in sports crossovers, it's time to take it to the level we all love. Rather than spending loads of time and money on another Mario adventure, and another lackluster Donkey Kong spinoff, why not bring the two together in an adventure starring both stars?

Mario, DK, and pals team up to take down both Bowser and K. Rool? Epic.

I see it as a Sonic Adventure 2 type game, where you have the Mario storyline and the DK storyline, yet both interweave. You can play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Yoshi from the Mario storyline, and Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Funky Kong from the DK storyline. All play entirely differently and are used to complete different types of stages, but ultimately, you are granted the freedom to complete and and all stages with any character.

EDIT: Or of course, just limit it to Mario and DK as playable characters. That would still be amazing.

So, you're playing a game of over-the-top pretend baseball where a plumber, a frog-tounged 'dragon' that poops eggs, and a winged turtle participate... and having a stylish gorilla wearing sunglasses join in is just too much for you? ...Yeah.

I've always wondered if there is any connection between Bowser and K. Rool..

C'mon, look at the similarities here:

Both are lizards.
Both are kings.
Both are always beaten by a hero and sometimes his sidekick. (Mario/Luigi and DK/Diddy)
Both control armies of lizards. (Koopas and Kremlings)
Both have some sort of non-lizard minion. (Goomba and Gnawty)
Both have large, intelligent monsters for minions. (Best example is King Kalamari and Dogadon)

They have very interesting similarities, I think. So I'm really wondering if there's any connection at all between the two.

We need a game where they work together..

Never really looked at the similarities. And don't you mean large fire breathing minions (to the most of my memory, Kalamari was the flaming squid from galaxy and Dogadon was the dragonfly boss from DK 64)? If you consider them intelegent, then why were there Oh-so-conviniently placed TnT barrels and spinable watermellons in both of their battles?

But nintendo is really trying to squeeze the Monkey guts out of DK's franchice into mario. Imagine if they were to work together:

DK and Mario both wake up one day and realize that peach/ the hoard of golden bananas have been stolen/kidnapped and make a path in order to find their possesions. Their paths eventually cross and they fight, thinking that each other stole their possesions. In the midst of their battling, two large airships apear and King K. Rule as well as bowser make their aperance. They reveal their alliance and have combined their strength in order to keep the duo from meddling. As they fly off, the two make a pact and starts off in their path.

I could really see the game going in two ways. I really like the idea of Sonic Adventures 2 themed action, but I think possibly a Superstar Saga overworld gameplay or even a DKC style would be efficiant. Mario and DK each have a set of skills in which they specialize in and only by using both in tandem can they hope to be succesfull. Mario specializes in using power ups such as hammers, fire flowers, and starman. He can fit in smaller areas, faster, and has a much higher jump then DK. DK is a lot more powerfull then Mario and can pick up enemies and barrels for throwing. DK can also use barrel cannons and various monkey technology unavalable to mario. In order to survive, the two must use their abilities in synch to clear puzzles, platform, and fight enemies. Without mario, DK may get stuck trying to navigate smaller passages or when an item is needed. Mario has the same trouble using jungle technology and throwing items.

Battling would be done via normal stomp on them actions. Each of them also have a variety of other maneuvers to deal more damage. DK can do ground slaps and punches in addition to grabbing and throwing, while Mario relies on items and ground pounding. When teamed up, they can also use tag team attacks to deal damage; things such as mario ignighting DK's item and throwing it, DK tossing mario into the air and Mario spinning a hammer around, etc.

Well, that's my $.0001 on the matter.

Actually, we need more DK games. But not those boring ones like all of the newer ones are.

DK Country and DK 64 were the best DK games ever. The have to do something like that again... Basically the only new game with DK/Diddy in it that I have is SSBB, lol. (Because sadly all other ones aren't worth it...)

While we're at it. Rare should continue the DK games. I loved the graphic. Now it ****ing sucks. It REALLY sucks. Everything looks so ugly. I'm really happy DK and Diddy look good in Brawl >_>

I regret Rareware going to Microsoft. Now I have to buy a 360 to play a Banjo Threeie game. Also, I hope they do well with Donkey Kong.

DK SHOULD NEVER STOP, NEVER!!! :3

I stop reading here, just about most of the DK chracters in Mario spinoff's are very important to the DK sieres, (maybe not Tiny Kong that much). Funkey Kong has been in more than two DK games, and Dixie Kong is important to the sieres due to her being Diddy Kong's girl friend and being the main chracter in DK Country 2. King K. Rool and Kritter are pretty big in the DK sieres as well, so it's not a waste of an idea for them not to be in some Mario spinoffs.

@derek: He means one where they're working together. I would prefer working together against K. Rool and Bowser. Not against eachother.

4) Like i said before, Turtles and Alligators/Crocodile's aren't even Lizards. Notice the shell? Lizards don't have shells, and lizards don't have long snouts either.
Umm... what?? do you care to say as to why?, because last I checked Alli's/Crocs were lizards.

Why does everybody think that the DK is owned by Rare? DK is owned by Nintnedo, but Rare deved the DKC and DK64 games.

I know Nintendo owns DK, but Rare did greatly with Dk, you know? Oh well, I would still give Dk a chance if I see another Dk game.

I find that the Mario universe includes not just the Mario series characters, but it also includes the Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario characters too. Therefore, I'm not bothered at all if any DK characters appear in a Mario game.

IMO, the DK, Yoshi, and Wario universes are all part of the Mario universe in general, since the main characters of those universes have starred in an official Mario game at one point. However, the Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, and Star Fox universes are completely different universes, and aren't involved with the Mario universe at all, except for minor cameos.

fix'ed.

donkey Kong was well Donkey Kong when mario was still called jumpman :/
That Donkey Kong is the ancestor of the present day Donkey Kong however. It has been speculated that Donkey Kong Jr. is Donkey Kong at a young age, but that story is still debatable, considering that both DK and DK Jr. appeared in Mario Tennis 64.

Sorry to burst your bubble but...

1) Bowser is a huge Koopa AKA turtle AKA Reptile. Alligator's or Crocodile's or WHAT ever K. Rool is ARE not Reptiles. Heck both of them arn't even lizards.
2)Well this is kinda one of the similarities that exists
3)cliched alot so doesn't really count
4) Like i said before, Turtles and Alligators/Crocodile's aren't even Lizards. Notice the shell? Lizards don't have shells, and lizards don't have long snouts either.
5)ehh...if you make a army one kinda of creature it ain't really going to work out.
6) Of course minion is a protégé or a favorite. Your minion isn't going to be dumb and expendable so of course its going to have some knowledge .
You sir need to attend your science classes. Turtles and Crocodiles/Alligators are all reptiles. What in the world would a(n) crocodile/alligator be if they weren't reptiles?

What is this?

Anyway, i don't get it myself, having Funky Kong in a Mario game when he hasn't ever been in a Mario Platformer.

Then again, R.O.B. was in Mario Kart DS, though it surprised me that he wasn't in Mario Kart Wii.

Who is Dry Bowser anyway? My memory's not good enough to recall if he was in Luigi's Mansion or if that Bowser looked significantly different.

DK NEEDS TO STOP NOTHING!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Where ELSE are these characters going to show up??

Nintendo has given up, sadly, on my series.

But, I suppose there are certain few who feel they deserve to be remembered or such.

There are too many MARIO characters if you ask me, but yeah..don' get me started on mah DK series.

Edit: And yes, we need DKC Wii, it would solve every problem DK fans are having. **** you Nintendo!
