Pikachu is a cool and fun character and all but its hard to have any priority.

Down Tilt is like my favorite attack, but most characters have better downtilts with better ranges.

His fair has like 0 range.

His Uair and Bair are the only aerials I like.

Pikachu's agility and versatility should make up for that, and it actually does most of the time (imo at least). Because of this comparing attacks (damage, range, priority) won't really give a proper picture of the situation most of the time.

I don't really have a problem with Pika's priority. In fact, I'm surprised at some of the attacks I cancel, especially with utilt and ftilt..... I've clanked with Ike's sword multiple times, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Pika does have pretty short range, but like entY said, that's mostly made up for by his mobility. I mean, it's a pain sometimes, but nothing unbearable. I have been getting frustrated with fair lately, but its range isn't horrible imo.... it extends pretty far past his head because of the electricity. (I had a picture of its max range from working on the Pika guide, but I think I deleted it.)

Dair has its uses.... it's good OOS and for pushing people farther offstage.

fair and dair are the most useless.... the only thing I can do with fair is shield grab out of it fast falled... which more times then not they shield grab me out of it

Dair is self explanatory.

There isn't really any spacing involved with Pika

I canceled DDD's utilt with Pika's utilt. Its pretty sexy that utilt of Pikas. Pikachu's fair shield stabs pretty much on any shield that isn't full. (Course depends how many hits of fair you are letting hit the shield)

And a tid bit about mobility, Pikachu's air mobility is .09 worse than Ike's who has the longest aerials in the game. And both of them are in the middle of aerial mobility :p

If you are getting shield grabbed out of fair, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!

Ever hear of landing behind the person?

Try landing your fair behind the opponent so you can follow up with a utilt or dsmash. You can also run up, RAR an fair (I've never done it personally, but Ussi has said he does), and land behind them so you can still grab afterwards without being shieldgrabbed.

As for dair, it is pretty useless most of the time, but you can approach sometimes with SH'd lagless dairs, a.k.a. Pikastorming (MUCH easier with tap jump on). Other than that, like I said in my last post, you can use it out of shield to punish whiffed attacks/attacks on your shield or use it offstage to push people farther away as they try to recover.

EDIT:
When I say mobility, I'm talking mobility in general..... not only in the air, but on the ground as well. Pikachu is fast, and he has a lot of tricks that allow him to move in unpredictable ways, ex: QAC, Pikasliding, etc. Be creative, Ussi. :p

RAR fair is pretty fun to do xD Heck I've learned fair is pretty ridiculous even when hitting with the back of fair that its way better to use than bair in every situation except when bair won't hit the ground (Since it does some nice damage)

Pikachu as several moves with lots of priority. He only has issues with range. But grabs can make up for that.

@Tagxy, I disagree. Out of all his weaknesses I hate his grab range the most. Its totally pathetic:'(

1. Lol @ MK.
2. Lol @ postcount.
3. Lol @ Fair being useless.

Try a somersault! Land behind with Fair, then do a short hop Nair. That, or just use the classic Fair->DSmash/ Any tilt

I dont mean standing grab, I mean dash grab. If youre playing any decent player that uses a character with range attacks theyll almost always do something like a retreating fair, ftilt, w/e so that they can stay out of range of your attacks. One of Pikachus best option after having his shield hit with an attack outside of nair range is to immediately dash and grab. I mean honestly what else are you going to do?

Pika?
Actually...dair has the best priority out of all of his aerials, and it has a decently strong hitbox the whole time. If you SH it really quick, you won't get landing lag, and it can **** Sidesteps or non-ledgehopped options from the ledge. Also, for the grab range issue, you can either do the running shield grab, which will make it standing. Or, you can do a boost grab, which is when you dash attack and press Z instantaneously and you get a little extra boost. You can also do a pivot-boost grab, which is when you press A, Z, and smash the analog stick the opposite way you were going, and you will slide and grab behind you, which is great for mindgames

wait your indian? I'm indian. You live in jersey? I live in jersey.

how wierd is that

what a small world we live in.

anyway Pikachu rocks. i agree though he has little priority in his attacks but i find that if you try to avoid attacking at the same time as your opponents you won't get good results. I aim to hit when my opponent doesn't have hitboxes out. and anytime he does...jolt or bolt.

also there's no way theres a smash scene in india. I just can't picture it.

Meh, you still live an hour from me. (Philly is closer to me so I play there)

I can see Street fighter in India though lol, after going to an arcade in India, street fighter was the **** there.

My favorite part about dair :D

Anyways, I don't find any of attack's priority (or lack of) annoying. That's more like learning about your character's strengths and weaknesses. Every move, even back throw and skull bash, has it's uses.

Just remember about all the good things that make you love pikachu. (^^) Surely don't dismiss his cons but they shouldn't annoy you.

(Ex: I mean I can't find a Link mainer that is annoyed by Link's recovery. :3)

Yeah, if i hit somebody with the first part of dair with the hitbox when i was normally planning to cancel it, i FF it so it gets them with the 2nd hitbox and the extra 3-5%

No, all of the moves are good and have their uses. Anther just probably knows how to use them far better than us. (Actually, I've only seen Anther use dair in youtube vids ONCE. Huh, wierd...)

The only time I see anther using Dair is when he does it on accident, its pretty apparent when some ones trying to fair and they dair.

In that case, your right. There are other options, but dash grabbing is probably the safest/most effective one.

Works every time :D

Neither can I lol:p Imagine smashing in a dhaba or somethin XP

i know anther uses dair often so it must be good. because he uses it, i use it as well (though sparingly)
Actually, I think Anther said in another thread that he doesn't use dair a lot. I think he said he prefers using nair or somethin...

At CoT4, he used a lot of dair out of shield to punish whiffed attacks or attacks on his shield. Which is exactly what I said before...... :dizzy:

Anyways, yes, Pika has some issues with range and priority (moreso the former than the latter), but it's really not that bad. If it was, he wouldn't be top of C tier. You just have to know the character and his matchups well enough to know when to use which moves.

He placed 13th because he got planked by an MK, and everybody knows it was BS.

Watch the vids. It's pretty sad.
