Do you have seeing problems?

Apparently I have seeing problems. I have astigmatism (is that the one that doesnt let you see near?) and that other one that doesnt let me see far, as I just discovered today when I took a seeing test for glasses. Apparently, I get this from the entire side of my father's family, which all have astigmatism and that other one....

Now I have to wear these plastic lenses on my eyes for a couple of hours...

ps. I don't remember the name, its because it was weird and I forgot it

I've needed glasses since 3 years ago.

Eh. Haven't got any though.

Hehe me too. I always put up the volume way too high on my tv.... although it could be that I produce way to much earwax :lick:
My hearing deficiency is because of bad genetics on my father's side. :yoshi:

I was born partly deaf, in other words.

Nope.

I am partly deaf though.
So am I!

I lost 80% of the hearing in my right ear. It's pretty funny because I often don't catch what people are saying, so me saying "pardon?" all the time can really piss them off.

Also lame that I have to turn music volume way up in my earphones, in a way that tortures my left ear. ;__;

As for vision though since that's the main topic (-__-), I actually have perfect vision, in fact in some cases it's better than 20/20.

Compensation.

I hate how I need to have subtitles on my movies and television programs or I can't hear anything.

I hate pretending to hear people because I don't want to bother them with saying "what?" all the time.

I need to get new hearing aids, haha.

I'm near-sighted. I would probably wear contacts, but I've got an irrational fear of them breaking in my eye.:urg:

I wear glasses too. Originally it was because I needed them to see the board. Now I wear them all the time and I think my eyes got too used to that. I can see up to some distance without them. I'll also need some new lens.

Astigmatism is when your corneas are not shaped normally. I have astigmatism in my right eye really badly.

My vision is AWFUL. I cannot see more than a foot without glasses. My contacts are getting worse and worse too.

My hearing is amazing those.

I have astigmatism also, and crazy nearsightedness. Can't see a foot in front of my face either. We make a good team!

I had surgery a couple months ago to correct my strabismus. Again. :lick:

Let's see...I have something called corticonus. It's where my corneas are cone-shaped, disabling me to extreme near-sightedness, blurred, and doubled vision. Right now I wear glasses and have been for about a year now since I was just diagnosed with it in 2009. Unfortunately, it's a condition that deteriorates my eyes over time, so my glasses aren't helpful at all anymore. Last Wednesday I saw the ophthalmologist and they prescribed me some hard contacts that I have a fitting appointment for this coming Monday. Apparently they'll be much better for my eyes and help me see clearer. But Lasik surgery nor ICL (implantable lens inside eye) are not options for me because of either misshapen eyes or the fact that they degrade over time. I guess my eyes are so bad I'm about two points off from being legally blind (luckily I have my driver's license and am able to still drive, so my vision isn't that bad yet).

It's a disease I've had since I was born but just started to get to the point of becoming noticeable. If I were to keep ignoring it and going on without doing anything about it I would have been blind by the time I hit my late 20's but luckily the measures I'm taking now will postpone such ailment, but not eliminate it. So I know some time in my life I will be fully blind. Just dunno when for sure, which is saddening...

...But all I can do is be optimistic and keep moving on like it won't happen because I still have a life to live until then and I'll be damed if that goes to waste.

I'm nearsighted. Funny thing is that the eye test before the one that revealed my near-sightedness said my eyes were ok.

I'm shortsighted.

Was born with bad eye sight. It didn't help matters that my parents never knew about it till I was like 3 or 4 years old :/ and wondering what the hell I was doing always going so up close towards the TV.

Wearing glasses right now, although I don't wear them all the time even though I should.

My eyes used to deteriorate pretty fast, but it's slowing down.

I'm moderately near-sighted.

What's weird is that I didn't notice it until I was 19 or so. I had regular eye exams throughout my childhood, but now I can't see without my glasses. I know that my eyesight hasn't always been this bad, which worries me. I hope I don't have a degenerative condition or something. I'm also at risk for glaucoma apparently. Bring on the medical marijuana!

I am probably long-sighted but I haven't been to an optician in years.

I only get problems in big lecture rooms. I find it really difficult to write, then re-focus on the board repeatedly. But I barely have lectures anymore and if I do they're just for a handful of people, so it doesn't really bother me.

If I read for more than 3 hours I get headaches. My solution is not working more than 3 hours in a day :).

I'm just nearsighted but its pretty bad because of my habits when I was a little kid. Like getting up close and personal with the TV screen. :urg:

If I don't have my glasses I can't read anything unless its real close to me.

=(

Wait, your born with it? Oh snap, I thought I just sat up so close to the TV because I was an idiot as a kid, which I thought made me shorsighted.

Huh, I learned something today.:)

I probably have the rarest vision problems of anyone here, though on the whole, my vision is still good.

Basically I had a viral infection (pretty successfully treated) in the retina of each of my eyes, and I have a cataract in the right. There is a whole bunch of debris in each eye that casts shadows on my retina, so I see tiny specks and hairs kind of transiently floating in my field of vision.

Children's near points are naturally shorter than adult's so they tend to sit closer to the TV anyway. All kids do it for a reason. It's kind of an old wive's tale that sitting close to the TV messes with your eyes.

My left eye is 20/16 (above average) and my right eye is 20/20 (average). Funny thing is, both of my parents and all of my grandparents have worse than 20/20 vision.
