Do you agree with having to buy both versions for Mewtwo?

I was actually pretty surprised that he's getting a free promotion at all. Nintendo knows he'll print money if he's DLC, I'm taking the promotional period as an act of genuine good faith on Nintendo's part.

Well looks like I will be buying Smash Wii U, register the game, download Mewtwo n my 3DS, then immediately selling Smash Wii U on ebay.

That's "free mewtwo download" by my definition XD

When you and everyone else gets the same idea, enjoy trying to get even $30 back for your SSB 3DS when everyone else is trying to do the same.
People will only pay full price for a used SSB with the club Nintendo code still unused.

Smash Wii U is $60 right now iirc. Mewtwo comes out in Spring of 2015, which i bet the game will still be $60. Obviously i will have a loss, but i will have to see how much it will cost to buy Mewtwo from paid DLC. Whichever costs less is the way to go. If Mewtwo is $10+ then its better to buy the Wii U game and sell it again for around $55

still considering a 3ds but

I am 100% sure for those with only 1 version will have to pay for him

and your theory is dlc is 40$-60$ for 1 character what have you ben smoking 3$-10$ is more likely

If Hyrule Warriors is any indication, then the DLC packs will be around $5-$7 each.

You make a good point but . . . the Zelda fans who bought Hyrule Warriors were majorly mad about the pro-order DLC issue there. it did matter to them a lot. It disappointed many people. Of cause SSB is on a larger scale as it'll sell more games, bot for those who care, buth the SSB DLC and the HW DLC mattered equally as much.

And yes people are selling HW DLC codes on ebay.On a personal note, I really wanted the Twilight Princess DLC but I could only get the Ocarina one in Australia, and it really annoyed me, I could not get the DLC I wanted. You can't say just because it's mewtwo and SSB that it matters more. It's just the same as the HW DLC. Lets hope Nintendo does the SSB DLC much better.
They've stated that the dlc costumes will eventually be put up as normal dlc for everyone. I imagine the same thing is going to happen to mewtwo here. So worse casenario people who don't have both will have to wait awhile to get mewtwo which I think is fair as it adds a little more insentative to get both.

Then buy one. Its Sakurais way of forcing the versions to have equal rosters as hes always said they would.

I plan on only getting the Wii U version, I knew the 3ds version would be the inferior version, everyone did. Those who only have 1 game version will be able to pay for the DLC. You are an idiot if you think Nintendo will exclude people in that way. Its way to expensive to get both versions just for 1 character. You comment pisses me off.

Well I was planning on getting both anyway so it's a nice thing to get + the soundtrack. But this way they will get the least hate for it , unless they make it free for everyone but yeah that ain't gonna happen.

Free Mewtwo is the reward for people being loyal customers and buying both versions. Paid Mewtwo is available for those who do not. This isn't a scam or a cash-grab; it's far more benevolent than most DLC.

Hmmm...from a business perspective, it would be a horrible move to make Mewtwo exclusive to those that have both versions. They are putting a lot of time and resources into this game. As a result I seriously doubt that he won't be paid dlc later on. IMo they realistically will make more money if they eventually turn him into paid dlc.

For me, I don't really care. I will have both versions and with mewtwo being exclusive I will laugh, so all those kids that only have a 3ds but says that the Wii U sucks and bla bla bla could pay for their words, because they will not be able to play with their favorite character without it. And after the Direct the only think that came to my mind was: the 3ds version is truly a demo to the Wii U version. What a beautiful game *.*.

As a business strategy, Yes whole heartedly seeing as it is a promotional thing that pseudo "forces" the consumer buy both games and get a club account which is very good for business. I'm sure you will be able to pay for him later, but its bonuses like this that act as validations for being a dedicated fan to have purchase these two games.

On a Side Note: I think its weird that it's going to take around six months for one character when in developing both games with from scratch characters, it took from 2012 to most likely around the end of summer this year as well as hefty games modes, even with a severely meager team, I don't think it would take that long. I personally view that there is going to be more content in spring 2015 than just one character given Nintendo's DLC track record this year.

I agree with This .

Guys ... are you really complain about Mewtwo ?

For me , Mewtwo is a gift , or an excuse from Sakurai for well trash us about how we are kids and thanks us for support Smash Bros Series . Well you want Mewtwo but no Wii U/3DS ? You will have it but you will paid for it ( 4-7 Bucks if alone , 8-12 if there are a stage with him , who know ? )
You have both , then you get a reward for support the dev team and Nintendo . And thanks to them it's gave for free ...
It's not like you buy's the same game twice , i trought it will be same but the direct show me how wrong am i ...
The Wii U version is like , the Final Form of all Smash bros ...

We do not know if he will be paid DLC later on. That's is the whole point of this entire topic. We are all just speculating based on what Nintendo has said so far.

Idk what to tell you.

If you seriously believe Mewtwo is ONLY accessible through buying both versions, then you're delusional. He will be paid DLC separately. End of discussion.

Ok tell me where Nintendo has specifically said this?
We are just assuming this as is it a logical conclusion but Nintendo has not yet said it outright. Anything is possible till Nintendo confirm it. But feel free to prove me wrong if you can quote where Nintendo has already confirmed that Mewtwo will also be paid DLC in the future.

I'm not saying "Nintendo has said it will be paid DLC."

I'm saying if you honestly think it won't be then you're outta your mind. I'm not even entertaining the possibility that this won't be the case because it's completely improbable.

With Nintendo anything is possible. You do realise this? No point expecting one thing and not have it happen. We need to have an open mind. Sure the paid DLC is the logical outcome for this but it's not a certainty (till Nintendo says it is or is not). You need more of an open mind.

^ This ... really guys , you can't be serious and be stupid to think there will not be paid DLC for those who don't have the 2 version ... Those guys who say " OMG NINTENDO BETRAY US !!11!" is the same who say" LEL SAMURAI SAY BOTH WILL HAVE THE SAME ROSTER LEL !!! NO MEWTWO FOR YOU MORON " ...

Really guys , you can't be just grateful ... JUST ONE TIME ?

I am grateful. But I am just waiting for Nintendo to announce how the DLC will work exactly. I wont try to 2nd guess how Nintendo might handle this like others here are doing.

I have a perfectly open mind. I entertain a multitude of possibilities while speculating depending on the likelihood of the outcome. There have only been a handful of points of speculation about which I had such certainty: Palutena/Miis as a newcomer, Ridley as a stage boss, and now this. I am more often the one telling others to be cautious and not allow their expectations to get the better of them.

This is not the case here. If I am wrong (which I will not be,) I will gladly accept the ridicule that comes with my standing.

you will receive 2 code in your Email for both version ... 1 for Wii U , One for 3Ds .. Like how they give Demo/DLC ...

And remember ,we found a hint for the In-game shop in the data of the 3Ds version ...

Is this an assumption or have Nintendo specifically said this? If Nintendo have specifically stated this, then thank you for the info. I don't know if Nintendo have said this or not yet.

That is not having an open mind. That is you saying it will be X and I am 100% correct. The paid DLC is highly plausible but not a certainty (at the moment).

I don't agree that the DLC was Mewtwo when it should have been Dixie Kong.

Yes, because it's a reward for being a loyal customer. Seeing it as forcing you to buy both versions to get him free is a bad perspective. If you don't have both versions, then you can buy him like normal DLC. This is a great deal more benevolent than most DLC nowadays.

Yes that is exactly what I'm saying.

And I rebut that having an open mind does not necessarily mean in all things. Call it what you like, but sometimes people are able to state things with certainty because the other options are simply so improbable that there is only one option left.

Now I will concede that I do not know the specifics of how it will be done. Perhaps the character will be given for free to customers who only bought one version, but only be available to them at a later date. Perhaps he will have to be paid for separately. I have no way of knowing the specifics. But to state that Mewtwo will not be available to any and all who purchased either game in some form is absolutely foolish and is a concept that I have no time to entertain.

I hate this argumentation that you'd pay 45$ or 60$ for "a character". You do not! Just as a reminder - you'll get a full game AND Mewtwo ;) If someones's whining about this - the Wii U just needs that kind of deal. I think it's a great choice by Nintendo.

I bought the Mario Kart 8 bundle day 1
I bought the Hyrule Warriors Hero pack day 1
And since I can buy Mewtwo instead of buying a whole new 3DS AND game, I will get him day 1 (of release)
As well as every DLC they make from their wallet extractor machine.
(Do I need help?)

Very true, but if you don't own that 2nd console, you have a full game you can not play. And this is the issue here. To actually play that 2nd game, some people would need to buy a 2nd console too.

Even if he's available for $$, you could still probably EASILY find a friend who has the 3ds, but not Wii U version, and use his to get both of you the character free.

Because I am buying both, it doesnt concern me. However, I hope it is paid DLC if you don't get either/or. We already got Dr. mario, mewtwo, and Roy (:4roy:), just need wolf and ice climbers before newcomers can roll in by DLC.
