Link to original post: Disney movies

On the bus rides back from football games and competitions, drumline sings song on the bus. Usually it consists of songs from classic Disney movies like Toy Story, Lion King, Mulan, Hercules, and whatnot. So, I'm gonna learn the songs by watching these movies until I know the songs. I'll update when I watch movies.

October 2nd: Lion King
October 3rd: Aladdin
October 4th: Vote Now!

Disney's old school 2d art was the best. Now it's all 3d animated and fancy graphics. Come to think of it, a lot of Disney's old stuff were practically musicals. Man, the good ole days... even if Disney was known for having subliminal explicit images.

Let's review the movie:

The prince is white :L
The french prince is pompous :L
The bad guy does voodoo :L
The non-royalty characters talk very illiterate from what I've seen on the trailers. :L
The movie just screams racist from the trailer, especially since Disney is advertising this partially as their 'black princess' movie, which to me is far more racist than not having a black princess.

Italians as rats
Okay, seriously? Even being an Italian and taking umbrage to a lot of the stereotyping about Italians going around, I didn't even think of that, and I'm nearly positive that's just...you know, the fantastical aspect, there being a rat?

(Besides, since when have people cared about offensive stereotyping/portrayal of Italians, anyways? I think if people cared there would be a much larger issue with Mario and a much larger issue with the fact that tons of villains are Italian, in all forms of media.)

People look way too hard for racism in everything, and then we wonder why there's so much of it.

By the way, GwJumpman, Youko's going to kill you for ending your posts with a Raichu. =P

The tall skinny guy on the right of the poster looks like waluigi lol
Haha, he does. I didn't even notice him till you pointed it out.

As for Ratatouille (however you spell it), I didn't make the rat-italian connection. I thought it was just a random street rat or something.

As for The Princess and the Frog, I didn't even know it was an upcoming film. I doubt they could make it as good as their classics though. It's funny, a movie can be racist and get flamed for it, but the movie can also be looked down upon for being "politically correct." It's like they had a black princess just to be PC, not because they just wanted a black princess. I think Disney is gonna get flamed either way. I'm just surprised they are going to go 2d with musicals again. Let's just hope they don't make the same blunder as they did with "The Rescuers." :p

I find people trying to be politically correct as racist. Imagine seeing a token in say, a Japanese tv show. It would seem incredibly far out of place. There's a difference between having a black character and a token.
Killer 7 has several black characters, but they don't come off as racist.
The cook on Ratatouille just happens to be black, as does the Saucae . These don't come off as racist, but more showing the black french population.

Pretty sure Ratatouille was french, not that it matters.

Anyway, Aladdin was an amazing movie! One of the coolest things Disney ever did!
A whole new world was a very cool song as well.

Well, it's natural that Snow White and Cinderella don't have them. They're from a different generation. But yeah, didn't Hercules have a really short one? When it shows Hades going to the underworld? Or did I imagine that?

I don't know. It just seems like my favourites have villain songs: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Good times.

Is it wrong that all this mention of Hades made me think of Hadesblade? >_>''

Mulan was my favorite disney movie. It had the best song ever in it. XD

Hades is my favorite villain though. ;o

Aladdin needed a villain song though.

All the best Disney movies have great villain songs.

Jafar did have a sort of villains song. It was Prince Ali (Reprise).

Sure, it wasn't much of a song, but it was Jafar singing. And he also sings in Return of Jafar as well if I remember correctly.

Yeah, pretty much, which is a shame 'cause Jafar is awesome enough for it, but I don't remember Snow white, Hercules or Cinderella having one.

mulan sucks
Oh no you didn't. Mulan is an awesome movie, though I was a bit too old when it came out to really get into the whole female protagonist thing. That's what happens when kids start having to go along with what's cool. But I saw it again over the summer on Youtube as a refresher, and it was every bit as good as I nostalgized it to be in my head.

I think Disney will be making a movie out of the musical, AIDA, soon.
I played in the pit for my HS' performance of AIDA- it's a great musical with amazing songs.

It obviously isn't a Disney movie... yet, but I would definitely recommend you watch this:
