I outplayed Diablo 2 :(. I really like playing it with some friends that play Hardcore but it's way to difficult to find people.

Hardcore.. with friends.. doesn't that defeat the purpose since they'd just return your armor? (unless all of you get pwned). But it's been even longer since I've played, so I might not remember the rules of Hardcore exactly.

Then again, any D2 is fun with friends :D

Agreed. Hardcore is the only way to go IMO. Definitely adds a lot more to the experience. Playing with friends as well is a must. Makes things SO much more enjoyable.

So, here's my situation:

1. I want to play Diablo.
2. I do not have my CDs.
3. I do not have my CD cases, and thus I do not have my CD keys.
4. I DO have the game currently installed on my computer.
5. I want to register my copy on bnet so that I may do a digital install and thus play without the CDs.

So I'm trying to figure out how to locate my CD key through the files installed on my computer. I'm sure it's here somewhere, I just have no clue where.

I found this potential solution. Hopefully it works:

Start -> Type regedit -> Enter -> Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blizzard\BlizzardGames\Diablo2\ERGC
It will be listed as reg_sz.
Have a look under the Blizzard folder and see if it is in there as well.

Google says the CD keys are embedded in the Patch_D2.mpq and d2data.mpq files -- maybe you can view it with a text editor or something

Or worst case, you can just buy another copy. If you actually have time to play, then D2 is definitely worth the money.

I tried the first option with no success. Couldn't locate ERGC.

I have a program that can view MPQ files, but still can't find the CD key in any of the files.

How's ladder season going for you guys? I lost my other Amazon because it expired, and now starting a new one, levelling up slowly haha.

And sure Kage, I'd like to see your Barb, what level/kind of Barb is it?

Edit: To anyone playing, I'm on USEast (username: Matt07) so if ya want just add me, and message me back, and I'll do the same :), or we could make a chatroom...Hmm...

Urg, bump and double posting again sorry guys D:.

So, I have a level 53 Bowazon in Hardcore, finished Act 2 Nightmare! This is the farthest I have ever gotten. And today was my lucky day for drops, I found a String of Ears, AND a Lem rune :D. All I need is a Jah rune to make a Faith, let's see if I can ever get that haha.

Thinking about getting this. It's surprising how long this game has lived.

Or y'know, WoW. It's a mmo but yeah, look how old it's gotten XD. Are Assasins any good? It's been so long since I played, I practically know nothing.

Trap Sins are amazing, Assasin's that use dual claws kinda suck unless you can afford good runewords, like any melee build >_>. Also it's kinda hard to find any decent players nowadays (well maybe not Softcore) but you're gonna run into a lot of bots.

Also earlier I lost my level 73 Bowazon in Hell Act 1...pretty ****ty but oh well :/.

Bump...again. This thread needs more activity :).

Alright I've seen this else where and it looks kinda interesting, so I decided to do a "Playlog" of my Firedin in Hardcore Single Player. Since I started late I'll add basic stuff on the previous Acts and have more detailed version further on.

Current Level/Act:
Level 47 Act 1 Nightmare.

Current Stats:
Strength: 75.
Dexterity: 75.
Vitality: 90.
Energy: 15.

Mercenary (Azrael):
Act 2 Mercenary with Defiance aura, may swap him when I hit Nightmare for Holy Freeze, I'll have to see.

Skills:
Resist Fire: 1/20.
Holy Fire: 16/20.
Salvation: 0/20.
Zeal: 4 (I'm debating whether to raise this to 20, or instead dump them into Sacrifice for higher physical damage and more Life Leech (since Life Leech is based on Physical Damage.)
Sacrifice: 1 (See Zeal.)
Holy Shield: 10/20.
Rest are dumped into prerequisites

Playlog thus far:

Act 1:
Pretty basic did very well on Players 8 setting, I was about level 23 when I killed Andariel.
Act II:
Fairly easy nothing too hard, except Duriel, he's brutal on Normal :S.
Act III:
Nothing too difficult, High Council scared me, and Lightning Enchanted also had me a little nervous :p.
Act IV:
Easy! Except for Diablo who's Lightning Inferno can be fatal without good Resists, and Infestor of Souls whom I died to many times, and always scared to fight him :p.
Act V:
Finished the first quest, haven't decided what to use the Sockets for yet, I'll probably leave it for later on.
Working on the Ancients, attempted to make Spirit, but that doesn't work on Single Player..
Completed Normal! Now gonna kill Baal a few more times to get some good items (I hope...)

Sad.

Doesn't surprise me though. The game was announced back in 08.
All they talk about in it is how much we are all disappointed in Diablo III and how much Torchlight II is better.

Actually Diablo III's spell customization looks pretty cool

What spell customization are you talking about? I haven't been following it all too closely, but no features of the game really stuck out for me :/ I seem to recall something about "choosing" a tree -- which sounded to me exactly like D2 worked anyway.

I think I'd rather have skill points -- sure it may have been a pain to allocate them every level, but I dislike the alternative of not really having a choice.

Take an attack from any character, they give you one of 5 runes to use on the attack.

It can change it's stats slightly or change the entire ability depending on what rune you use.

Witch Doctor's rain frog spell normally rains frogs...However, with the right rune he instead summons a giant frog
