Some of you may have already heard. Dead Space AKA Resident Evil: Zero G edition, is coming to Wii.

February 3, 2009 - During its fiscal third quarter earnings call today, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello announced a Wii version of last year's horror shooter Dead Space is on the way. No other details were revealed, but IGN has heard it will be an original take on the game that makes full use of the Wii remote.

"We're bringing core intellectual property to the Wii," Riccitiello said. "Wii is the market leader -- they're getting half of our emphasis in terms of title count."

Dead Space was released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC last October and received high praise for its beautiful graphics, creepy atmosphere, and gruesome alien zombie dismemberment. Oh, and zero gravity gameplay. Electronic Arts credits the game as one of its major sales drivers during its fiscal Q3. Riccitiello said the Wii version will carry the same fear factor present in the 360 and PS3 game.

Well It's kinda nice that EA is slowly but surely coming to it's senses, but did it have to be Dead space with possible Wii Motion Control +? Possibly yes, but for once I'm going to be skeptical about this. Maybe another game that could be better on the other consoles or Vice Versa..

Why does it feel like this is done all too often?

In regards to your comment about another game that could be better on the other consoles...yeah, I feel like this would be better all too often as well. But when a game is popular and wasn't originally on the Wii, everyone's first reaction is "Port it to the Wii and add motion controls!" because, as EA said, the Wii is the market leader. If they profited off of the 360 and PS3, they're sure going to make a profit on the Wii.

Which is what's so annoying about this generation. So many of the actions of game companies have been CLEARLY just about making money. Either I didn't pay enough attention in previous generations or game companies stopped bothering to hide their motives. Likely the former since I wasn't even half as involved in the gaming community last gen as I am now, but it might be some of the latter, too.

Now that you look back, most of the time games had to rely on a major brand to sell. Mario,Star Wars, Zelda, Final Fantasy. All Established names. Now look at Okami, Viewtiful Joe to name a few. The first 4 mentioned had major names due to established names. The other 2 did not and Clover ended up closing and re-opening with Platinum Games. It was about the money, but that was at a small level at first..now that the industry can earn 22 Billion at least its been more about the money and less about the fun. Of course with the occasional Gem and a Zelda game(which are both fun and instant Platinum sellers), its been more about flashy graphics and less on gameplay and art Direction

Oh my gawd I cannot even begin to imagine dead space on the wii xD
I can understand why they would port it to the wii though, that game is so underrated.

I mean, if you created an independant studio for the sake of a vision that you pour your heart and soul into, and then it flops on the market, I'd try to get it out on the Wii too. I personally wouldn't even do it as much for money as I would for dignity. I don't think the entire industry is out for the sole purpose of making a quick easy buck, or else they would have went to the wii first and would have made 10 games by now :p

But if they make a psuedo-sequel with some retarted subtitle, slap on half-***** wiimote controlls, and call it dead space, I'll be pretty pissed.
Either or, I can't wait to see the angry comments from mothers everywhere.

“We could not be more excited to extend Dead Space into an experience exclusive to the Wii. Nintendo has a wonderful history in the horror genre and we are thrilled to build on that tradition with Dead Space Extraction,” said Glen Schofield, VP and General Manager of EA Redwood Shores studio. “As we were developing Dead Space, we realized that there was so much of the story going untold. Dead Space Extraction tells that story with all of the intensity, blood and gore that fans would expect.”

same applies to me since i wasnt really bothered back with the gamecube as i am now.... but i still believe that wii games suck.....i really dont get why the wii is the market leader while the gamecube was so far behind.... the games were a whole lot more enjoyable back then..... perhaps its because of the "new customers" the wii has attracked because of its motion controls.... or it could also be that at 6th gen i would just buy like 3 games, keep myself busy for 1-2 months and then pick new ones next year while now i pick new games whenever they get out and im also clearing them much faster resulting in a sense of lack... well anyway we're off-topic...

Resident Evil sounds interesting.... perhaps i should just take this opportunity and jump in..

I can imagine why. I think I'd rather get it for PC now, this version doesn't seem like the Dead Space at all.
