Hands down.

You know usually I just spam ****, but seriously, dash attack should be used like 75 percent of the time as an approach.

For real.

Eh, if you're serious, then sort of.

Dash Attack works for Sonic about the same way Falcon Kick does for Falcon.

It's nice for disrupting your opponent's attack, if you can get it in that window, and starts up your momentum, but it commits you to the move.

edit.
However, this means that snakedash is the best approach.

I am just now noticing that all your spam threads have a hidden warning to let us know they're spam threads.

I agree.

If you hit them with the very start of the dash and the enemy is low percentage, it's easy to connect it with a Fsmash.

Lol everybody's abandoning the Sonic ship. I can see why to some extent, it's a lot of hard work to pull off anything good with him, and it's not that satisfying if you do...
Meh, I'll stick with Sonic anywho.

i take it as my second approach if i cannot get a hit in, my first approach would be jumpdash and homing attack really, or i use them both in a combo :)

problem with dash attack is that its easy for them to counter if they see it coming, or if they know..

so i prefer ASC... much hard to counter. plus u can do multiple things once landed, and even grab...

but i dwfinately like to whip out the occaisional dahs attakc becuzz it is wickid fast, and pretty much anavoidable if they dont expect it. but the damage is ... lame... nice follow up for u air =)

meh.. idk if i would call it sonic's best apprach... given that u can dash.. side b sheild cancel into a grab... ASC, HA... RAR bair... spin shot into bair... Spin charge(hold until they release sheild or start approching) i mean... sonic has a lot of approaches that are harder to counter than dash attack...

i agree completely. There's no way that this is true. it will work well only when mixed with other approaches. Besides, if you want to talk about the number of options you have in a certain approach, the ASC is what you want. that is probably his best approach.

has anyone else noticed that ASC's priority seems to get cut pretty badly when sonic is in high percents?

I would ASC into moves that i had beaten out multiple times, and i would get completely knocked out of ASC and killed at percents like 160.

maybe some1 could test. =)

umm i wudnt think so. the side b and down b each provide a number of entry points including the air (if u jump during the spin) whilst the dash attack restricts to the ground. so at least with ur specials u hav options. plus an option to opt out and back off.

The main advantage to dash attack is that you can use ground attacks as soon as it's done, whereas you're forced to jump/go into an aerial or go out of range if you use side-B/down-B to hit.

They also pop your enemy up for an aerial followup while dash attack has a much lower trajectory.

Dash attack only really works if your opponent hasn't had much experience in fighting a sonic, otherwise they can easily punish you for it.

I'm pretty sure this was made as a spam thread, but like Falcon Kick, it's effective as a disruptor/counterapproach.

It's from Boxob...so it's a spam thread.
But yeah, if you've got a Sheik chargin her needles at the start of a match, dash attack the bitch.
It should be used as a disrupter, it's not really an approach.

i usually approach with a hyphen smash. Dash attack is good to connect with Ftilt or Fsmash though

I used to 'hyphen smash' a lot. It gets predictable though, like, really predictable. Once your opponent learns how long the hitbox stays out (rather long) then you're just gonna get it shielded then probably grabbed.
On the plus side it does eat shields quite nicely.
I usually approach with shorthopped aerials. Fair has decent priority (for Sonic, anyway) and a fair bit of range, so often that. Uair is good for people idly standing on platforms, but again fair's probably better.

Yep. Thats why variety is important, and it can be very easy to be percieved as a daash attack spammer and become predictable... thats the only thing I really want to avoid. I try to shake up my approaches.

and there is always a bair or jump back dair but yer, gives them plenty of time to move around.
