So my snake does pretty well at tournaments but it just isnt winning them for me any more. I seem to be ok at both non explosive and explosive games just dont excel at them. I haven't seemed to improve at all over the last 3 months. So give me any tips or help out any mistakes you see.

vs Wario
vs Snake
vs Dedede
currently these are the only videos I have, my favorite one is the second video even though i lose and the last one doesnt really show much of me

I only watched the Wario match and I have to say that you jump around too much. I never really fought against a Wario player but I know all too well that using n-air against him wouldn't do any good. Wario's DI is way better than snake.

Also, I didn't really see any c4 around when Wario was at the corner hanging. Make sure you lay one next to the edge. That way when he jumps and you jump, you'll juke him into the ground and blast him with the c4. If that doesn't really work, maybe you should charge the up-smash a little. This will make a little wall of defense and limit his jumping DI. I hope this helps.

ur snake is good no need for me to critique it.

@ eroninja - Grab release > nair ***** Wario, and he used to correctly and profited.

Anyway Magik, you need to use the c4 more. You're great on your non-explosive game. Your grenade game is fine. I liked your b-reversals. There's a lot more you could do with them to create a wall of defense or just set them before moving away from your location so the opponent has a harder time reaching you or getting away from you without getting blown up.

You rolled a lot in some of these matches. It's not really a great option when you could just walk back with snake and counter-attack with tilts.

Ally does it pretty often, and I use it REALLY often. It's a great way to 'perfect distance' throw the grenade, and you can make it back with a SH Bair for defense. Mostly used when the opponent is on the other side of the stage.

@SandSt0rm

Grab Release > Nair only ***** Wario if the Wario is inexperienced and doesn't know how to SDI out of it.

Yes i know wario can SDI out of it, i wouldnt have done it if i knew that my opponent knew how, however in this case he doesnt so i took advantage of that.

I only watched the snake video.

Your slid more than I do, although I am not sure if that is a bad thing or a good thing. Mortar slides are too easy to punish for most of my friends, so I don't do it all that often...

To be honest, I learned more in the first match than had the ability to criticise, lol.

But do remember than Snake has very low/poor aerial mobility therefore jumping and DI'ing a nair towards opponents are not the best option. Try to mortar slide from the spot as it is lightning fast, deals damage and is a set-up starter. I love the move if not spammed

Yeah you're watching the wrong snake, in the white one in that match, i did zero mortar slides

I gues i could mix it up a bit.

Magik's Snake isn't interested in serious relationships.
you have to get in line like all the other hoes

Havokk hit the nail on the head with his explanation of the first part. But as far as your nitpicking my statement, I didn't mean that it'll always work. But it's a good set-up that can **** if your opponent doesn't know how to deal with it. The person before me asked why he was nairing so much, so that's why I said what I said. x_x

Mortar Slide is a horrible approach due to it having almost no priority (Falcon can knock you out of it with anything >.> )

It's best used as a retreat to reset your camping game or maybe a followup at lower percentages

DJ Nair is amazing and lagless so you can buffer a ftilt/utilt or whatever else after without getting punished

Thanks for this post, when I do it i usually air dodge to get the nade and shield which isn't really that good so I wanted to find out a move to use with it.

I didn't watch the other two fights since I'm not to much of a Snake fan but I saw a couple things that I loved.

My favorite combo was the idea of the Grenade/Kick combo.

But as I stated in previous Snake threads ( which was only once ) you really have to be smart to play Snake, not so much straight forward combat. Which I saw you execute flawlessly. In my oppinion.

My favorite combo is just the old B>Shield>Grab>Choke>Choke>Choke>Up-throw>Toss grenade up GG.

I love that kill--but it can be air-dodged out of. So, it's not really reliable. But cooking grenades on the ground is the best.

I wouldn't try that too much if I were you, there are much better things you can do out of a grab.
Such as? I can only name a few from the top of my head.

dthrow->techchase
dthrow->ftilt or other attacks (if they get up or you shield a get up attack)
grenade shield drop->grab and choke->dthrow
dthrow->DJ nair towards opponent
dthrow->mortar slide

I know there are a few more. Name me a few so I can learn something please?

dthrow utilt (if they stay still)
dthrow reverse utilt (if they roll behind you, depends on the character you're playing though)
dthrow dair
dthrow jab>ftilt if they stay in place or roll behind you (again, depends on the opponent's character)
mortar>grab>dthrow as mortar hits (must have port 4) > whatever else you want

theres tons

If Falco:

Grab > Grab release > Boost grab > Grab release >boost grab > dthrow > tech chase (hopefully behind you) > Grab > grab release > boost grab > grab release > boost grab > dthrow > tech chase > KO

Oh, way, way, way, way to much fun....

its closer to a yoshi or zss chaingrab because its grab releases

and you HAVE to boost grab
You have to time the boost grab perfectly...

Falco cannot break away during the pummel...

It's pretty hard to do unless you practice.

It *****..

It was marked off as 'pretty much useless because dthrow is better' by the "better" players, hence me leaving the Snake BRoomers.

Speaking of which, I NEVER did get my answer to "why can't you do this until you're close to the edge THEN dthrow? It limits their options even FURTHER, FRESHENS MOVES, and RACKS UP MORE DAMAGE.

But you know, totally owning someone in an argument over usefulness does that. It makes them ignore the argument. :laugh:

/they know who they are

couldn't you use that chain throw to get the dthrown infinite on the edge?
The infinite doesn't work on Falco, or pretty much anyone

Air dodging, Bair, or Nair ruin it.

Falco's Bair ruins it.

And you would have to space it perfectly, but yes it is possible.

(and I know the "infinite" can be done a few times before they figure out how to get out most of the time... I've done the infinite like 20 times in a row once)
