my personal favorite counterpick is brinstar

the acid prevents you from getting gimped and you can still fair faces off to kill horizontally

it also stops characters like olimar who can control stages, camping is also incredibly hard because of the way the platforms are set up

and of course you get the advantage of platforms that you can uair through

Hm... i usually play my best on Yoshi's Story

I hate smashville, though. More often than not, my opponent will try to recover, and when I smack them with the godly spike... they get slammed down onto the moving platform... That platform hates me -_-

BF is easy to spike on. ^_^

my favorite stages on marth... would easily be battlefield, yoshi's island (brawl), and lylat.

Effective counterpicks...

Rainbow Cruise - I suggest everyone start using this stage against any snake and here is why - first of all on the ship in the beggining marth has an infinite and you can really abuse that if thats your style. secondly, this level does force snake into the air ALOT and it also hinders his c4 and land mines since the stage is constantly moving. of course theres certain parts to the stage that he can ko you just as easily as you can him, but if you play it smart you can avoid those easily. the last time i took a snake to rainbow cruise it was KevinM's snake and i ended up 2 stocking him on a 3 stock match there.

Delphino Plaza - Infinites galore... its easy to gimp people here and there are a ton of water spiking situations adding this feature is the walk off parts of the stage and being able to go through the floor of the main platform that transports you. its a nice counter.

Counterpicking lylat is effective against chaingrabbers due to the way the stage is shaped, and i noticed a ness can actually escape a chaingrab on this stage if he stays away from the center of it.

Stages i dislike :

final Destination - This place is too freaking big now... so it allows people that like to toss projectiles at you to have some more breathing room... and a lot of running space i hate playing any character on this stage though as i just detest the overall flatness of it. also the lip messes with dolphin sometimes in one of two ways. 1. it can gimp you by catching you under the stage, however i found that if i was careful this is a rare occurance. and 2. sometimes you actually hit a 2nd dolphin on this stage accidently - i dont quite understand whats causing this but it always results me in getting one hell of a punishment since it lands me on the stage.

Luigi's mansion - not as bad as Final D as i find the gimping game to be okay here, but the mansion just gets in the way a little too much for my liking.

Anyhoo i am somewhat new to the communiy as a poster but i've always read it alot. Any input on my post would be great and please do so if you disagree but do tell me why.

Characters with godly recoveries *cough* ROB can live from a undiminished spike from even 80%-ish (apply damage from Dair before knockback).

That's because Smashville is stationed higher-up, allowing easier vertical kills but make spikes easier to live through.

I think BF is a stage where both vertical kills and spikes are easy since the entirety of its height is rather small compared to SV and FD (which might even be created off the same build). Battlefield is pretty much a small stage so it allows for easier kills overall to be honest (especially true for Marth).

After discussing with my crew and playing the matchup more, I think Rainbow Cruise against Snake and either Yoshi's Story or Delphino against Meta.

Honestly Meta doesn't have a bad stage if he's used to it, you want a stage that has small boundaries so you can get a quick kill with your superior kill moves. Any stage that the Meta isn't comfortable with or is used to is also a plus.

One of the ships shot me a few times holding me in place then EL up smashed to end the match >.> Never pick corneria.
lol corneria is my worst unbanned stage
marths good stages are basicly all the ones that are either small or that have platforms like battlefield because when an oponement is on top of marth then it is marths favourite day

My Favorite stage is Distant planet. U can go threw the stage to recover there are platforms in place for good combos and since the left side of it is Slanted upwards and a walk off, ive just Fair up that hill with my oppoenent always on the ground becuase the hill is tilted up and i usualy get a kill out of it , iff not a good amount of %
and since marth has no long range u can just get one of those Pikmin Cookies (i have no idea what there called, those littlee things with the numbers). U can grab one and space ureself with it

I'd say that Battlefield and Delfino are his best. The think that pisses me off about Delfino though is that MK really excels there too. A downsmash on a walk off segment of the level usually means Marth looses a stock.

I'd marry Delphino. Pokemon Stadium 2 is pretty good only if you practice on it, because believe it or not the treadmill gives people problems, and I think it can be a good potential stage spike place. No one I've ever talked to has ever mentioned how much they love Pokemon Stadium 2, so I don't really know if people are prepared to play their best on that stage.

I really like lylat, it screws up Fox and Falco and Wolf if they are trying to shoot you when the ship tilts. Corneria is good with dtilt infinite. I'm good on BF, Delphino, Smashville, and Castle Siege, but will that be banned? (Walk off edges on second tialso er.) I'm okay on Yoshi's island, Norfair, and Brinstar, but I don't fight there very often. I'm trying to get better on halberd.

I actually really like Corneria, it's one of my favorite maps. Stick on the right side and a tipped f smash can kill at very low percents, and the d-tilt lock is best there, use it until 120-150% and DS right after for a KO.

My second favorite map is probably Battlefield.

Battlefield is obviously awsome, don't need to explain that.
Lylat/Smashville are great as well, depending on the character obviously.
Learing Rainbow Cruise and Halbred are essential to play Marth as well.

In Florida: Onett, Corneria, Hannenbow, Warioware, Norfair. Have always been banned in tournaments.

Brinstar is hot.
And here's why.

Brinstar is great, against everyone except Meta, because you'll die from UPB at early percents.

All of Marth's attacks have a tip, whenever you hit any part of the stage. For example the eggs or w/e those things in the middle are. If you Fsmash, then your attack lags, and anyone is hits is automatically tipped. Same thing with the platform supports on the sides as well.

Now if you Dsmash the middle, this will continually lag for a long time, (the whole time it's lagging it can hit your opponent FYI) if your opponent gets close he will get tipped and hit.

It is possible to Dtilt lock here as well, if you break like the top 2-3 of the eggs you can hit someone against the left wall with the Dtilt infinite.

Also this stage sometimes messes up rolls, so when your opponent tries to roll away, they'll get stuck in the middle.

Dolphin Slash will land you on the platform above as well so less lag time from Marth's fastest killing move.

With constantly tipping moves, and VERY early kills to the side, Brinstar is great against almost every character. For vertical kills, try Uair after the acid hits your opponent upwards.

Someone trying to camp you should not work either, will little escape room and Fairs chasing them this stage is great for Marth.

There's all you need to know about brinstar, I skipped the acid parts because everybody knows how that works.
And for those of you who don't Use Ganon and Arial SideB someone into the acid, you'll like what you see.
Also try to footstool someone coming out of the acid, it's just fun.

For anyone who doesn't believe this stage is great, here's me vs the best in Florida about a month ago.

Yes this was tournament, and yes I was very horrible for not grabbing the sypher, now just take a look at the stage use and tell me what you think.

Battlefield is my favorite for the fox characters in the small offchance that they will Over B off of the edge, which has surprisingly happened during some of my fights. I'm also curious to castle siege because of the walk off edges, easy to get opponents. Anywho, my best is absolutely Delfino for counterpicks just because of the D tilt trap and the platforms just work well for me. And...the nice enviornment. Sadly the only reason I don't play Smashville is because of that moving platform which saves the opponent, and less space to try to spike IMO...I know i'm a bad player haha.

Inui, Marth does -fine- on Rainbow Cruise.

He's only semi-disadvantaged against characters like Metaknight and Pit.

Rainbow Cruise is a very viable counterpick against characters such as the Ice Climbers.

Being put in terrible situations constantly against characters that crush him in terms of jumping and recovery is somehow not terrible? That's news to me. It's so easy for Marth to die there.

It's only viable against the Ice Climbers and Olimar. That's it.

I don't feel comfertable on Battlefield, I love to use Final Destination, Delfino Plaza and Onett melee when it is not banned.

I can see how RC can be sort of a bad stage for Marth....

I'd like to say.... Yoshi's Story is my favorite place. and smash ville too...

Battlefield has only a few things that make it a better stage for marth which is the fact that you can DS into the platform an continue... and that and you can platform cancel and reset jumps and continue a **** in the air.

Yoshi's story has 1 thing bad about it (on thing I learned which is nice to spam but also nice to trap enemies) which is drop -> fair -> DS is nerfed due to the stage. also ledge attacks are nerfed slightly.
But since the platform continously tilts... on occasion you get the satisfaction of DS, missing, and recovering faster since the platform has lifted.

Also shield breaker recover is most viable on this stage. As useless as it is.

Unfortunately, Stage spiking, becomes more of stage gimping which is relatively the same but DS stage spikes are sometimes recoverable.

and lastly when springs out the *****es are out! thats just a bonus.

...

Smashville has only one reason why I like it. And its not consistent. The mobile platform can allow for an early recovery if you're being edge guarded. But it's not reliable or effective, since most good players will just follow you and punish the landing lag you recieve from DS. I just like it cuz it has saved me in a tourney match and I WASN'T punished and I was happy.

...

in retrospect... Delfino is the greatest of counterpicks. It can function much like Battlefield. but its also one of the few stages that allow for the dtilt trap.

I'm a big fan of counterpicking Delfino for all of the previously mentioned reasons. Also, it may just be me, but I also use Norfair. Part of that says it's just other people being unfamiliar with it, but Marth's ledge camping game is very good there.

I think Green Hill Zone would be a nice counterpick. Marth zoning can basically force the opponent out of the screen

I like Dilfino a lot and I've starting using it more. As everyone should know, Marth's ledge game isn't so great, he doesn't have very good options, but with Delfino when you are on the platform in the air you can drop down under the stage and then jump and DS either way and throw off your opponents. I really need to start using Norfair more because it is not banned but most people don't practice there and therefore aren't ready. I need to use Halberd more as well, for the same reasons as Delfino and I actually like the hazerds because you can trick the opponents into them if you are clever. I am focusing too much on improving my game with Marth, I need to start focusing more on working on certain stages.

nofair has been said by people i use to play with A LOT... still i don't understand why its a great marth counter... there are few things about it I see giving advantage to marth.

you are absolutely right though, i'm not familiar with the map and quite frankly i'm scared of it and I don't like it... much like the feeling I get from lylat...

Worst stage for marth would be skyworld, if it's not banned. Only other bad stage for him is Green Hill zone, or maybe Distant Planet

I think that Green Greens is a good counterpick against Marth. Other people can use the block to their advantage and if they have a projectile then the bombs can screw Marth over.
