Pika beats Yoshi in just about every category that comes to mind. He's not gimpable, Wins projectile wars, ground game and air game is better because of disjointed attacks

I agree that Falco is hard as hell to beat along with Wolf and Snake because their projectives and shields block Yoshis eggs, but I beat a good Falco today on Battlefield, so it is definately possible on maps where the ledges cancels out the laser. It won't help with Wolf though and I don't know about Snake, but I would say he is much easier then Wolf.

G&W is not hard if you egg spam close to his feet and get him to attack you. The only really hard move he has is the turtle and if you can avoid that, everything else like his key, smashes, and parachute are predictable.


And Marth is easy as hell. Just egg spam him and when he runs towards you, run towards him, eat him, then chaingrab him. Marth has no aerial game and since he is kind of tall, you can easily flutter kick him and predict his moves. He is nowhere near as hard as he was in Melee and like I said, eggs+chaingrab are a guranteed win.

DDD is pretty hard because of the chaingrab, but it is much easier to get out of then the Ice Climbers chaingrab, but since he is tall, he is easy to flutterkick him and hit him when he comes down from attacks or is on a flatform above you. Just egg spam camp him and take it slow and you should be able to win along with grabbing him a couple times. Rush in and you will get grabbed like no tomorrow and messed up.

Pikachu is hard like the others have said because of his lightning, but he is not unbeatable, just annoying. Just stay back, egg spam him, let him throw bolts at you, and then move in and make him into an egg from the air or flutter kick or aa him.


IMO, the hardest players I have faught are Wolf, DDD, Zelda, Snake, and Ice Climbers (just because of their chaingrab and ice projectiles). I think DDD, Snake, and if you can avoid the Ice Climbers grab, are probably the easiest out of the bunch.

Pikachu is gimpable once if they decide to skull bash recover. That's an easy Fair spike they won't know about. But yeah as long as you avoid the Dsmash and the thunder you're solid against the little rat.

DDD's chaingrab never gave me much of a problem I just jab as I land it that'll usually break it, unless there's a dash shield grab my opponent decided not to use. Other than that though, yeah yoshi's eggs are way better than the waddles.

Snake, big heavy walking target. only thing I find annoying about him in a 1v1 is his nades, but eggs can destroy then if the snake isn't really careful, and his air game SUCKSSS!!!! So I usually just Bair snake alot and usually bair them into other attacks if i so choose, and i nice Dthrow to Uair for the kill or a nice Fair spike take care of business.

ughhh. if you read my post, i said the matches I thought were in yoshi's favor are with my experience! I find martha to be one of the EASIER match ups for MY yoshi in the game. I stated it twice in this thread before you jumped on that those were from my experience as a yoshi player in tournaments. Whether physically and technically martha is a harder match up for yoshi, I dont know but for me, I get happy when I know I am playing a martha player. ten times better than if someone chooses wolf.

and dont tell me I had martha experience. every body playing brawl usually brings something new to a match. Your martha was way different than any of the marthas I ever played, which I told you during our matches.. so no, I wasn't "prepared" or what eve it is u said.

I kinda like versing Zamus. She has one killing move, and that's her side B. Eggs own her because she's tall and pretty easy o hit, and it's really really easy to outrange her. She is also pretty light, which drastically helps Yoshi's KO game. I'd say as the Yoshi player, out camp and overpower her. Use Yoshi like a power character in games like this against light people.

Hmm, maybe I just suck, but the character I've had the most trouble with is...Ike.
When he uses Quick Draw to move, he's actually kinda quick, and QD->Jab combo is beastly. His range and priority trumps almost everything, it seems.
What do you guys think?

Just a note on Snake. I find him to be a really easy matchup actually. You have so much more mobility than he does, a pretty ****ed good projectile game (egg stall ftw), and most of all, you can gimp his recovery with eggs. Sure he can just pull out another cypher, but even if he does recover, you can still rack up great damage and use the opportunity to freshen up all of your kill moves.

If this is actually what you think of the matchup, you're going to get curbstomped by any ZSS worth their salt.

How does Yoshi boast (an even slight) advantage over Marth?

The only thing I see Yoshi has on Snake is that Yoshi has general better air control, but Snake can kill super easy. Snake can only kill with tilts? You have C4(+ dthrow traps), usmash(several good snakes love to spam this), dair(easy shield pressure if you block)...

Let's see, according to the Snake boards, Snake's utilt kills Yoshi at around 107% without stale move negation(tested from the center of FD). With all the grenades, C4, mortars and tilts flying around, it's going to be pretty difficult to land hits on Snake without getting hit. I think eggs can cancel out grenades, but I don't think that suddenly shifts the matchup in favor of Yoshi all of a sudden.



And... Falco?

I don't have much experience in Falco vs. Yoshi, but I'd like to hear more clarification on this.

@Eltrotraw: Falco really shuts down Yoshi from what I've played. Lasers make Bair and most other approaches near impossible, and the ones that it doesn't can often be shield grabbed. Eggs are useless here, and I'm pretty sure Falco's Dair will beat Yoshi's Uair. Falco punishes Yoshi for pretty much anything.

The only good things for Yoshi I've found in that matchup is that Falco can't edgeguard Yoshi easily, and Nair helps Yoshi get out of the chaingrab.

That's exactly why I was asking to see what he meant - I don't see eggs as being enough of a reason to grant Yoshi an advantage over Marth.
