OK I can double fair but whenever i connect with the first one i knock them too far to connect on the 2nd fair. where on the blade should i aim to hit them so they dont fly away as much and i can get both off?

Wow. I used to hate answering these questions. Now I jump at the chance to talk about Melee.

To begin with, you must be DI'ing towards them, or in other words progressing in their direction. You cannot be stationary while doing this, or it defeats the purpose of comboing them.

You will want to hit the opponent with the inside of Marth's blade. The tip of it is called the "sweetspot" and by sweetspotting your Forward Airs, your opponent is likely to fly farther away, since the sweetspot has more knockback. Or, in other words, the tip of the sword sends your opponent farther away.

Yeah, the part of the sword where you hit makes all the difference man. To answer your question though, yes...Get closer.

it also depends on DI, and if its a fast faller or light etc.
in MOST cases it is in the handle area you want the first hit, but then against fox, falco, falcon and other fast fallers Tip works better at low %'s

keep in mind Double Fair is not amazing as you think, as someone sheilds it they can grab between your fairs! and also it can get predictable, i would advise to use it more against samus, or link since there grabs are slow, but also good players would jump out of sheild and do an Arial.

Or you could shffl a fair, hit them with the tip to pop them up, utilt and then shdf away. It's pretty cool looking, if nothing else.

I was under the impression that hitting them with the tip creates the most stun while also knocking them not just back but higher so you can actually keep the shdf's coming. This is more of a question than a statement btw.
But I agree that its best to shffl a fair first rather than try to run in with shdf right off the bat since DIing that is like impossible.

you can run in, hold back and jump in place to shdf on shields. but most people wont just give you their shield. use the shdf to combo after a throw, not as an approach

if you do that (jump in place to double fair their shield) with tippers, will the shieldstun be enough to stop them for shieldrolling behind you? I'm guessing no but . . .

Cause if they roll behind you there isn't much you can do.

Actually, Link and Samus can't grab you out of it anyway (Unless you're touching them) because they can't grab people in the air anyway.

but Samus could probably screw you, if not get a nair off, and Link can most definitely get a nair, or if they're still on the first one a uair, or maybe even an Up+B, but that'd be really risky. Actually it'd be pretty risky for a Link to actually try this, but it's more than likely possible.

They can't grab you out of it because their grabs suck, too =P

Haha, Samus could screw you... see it's funny because... y'know... it means Screw Attack and could also be construed as sexual in an alternate context. Yeah.

But yeah, don't shdf shields. What you can do to shielders is pound at their shields for a while with normal shffl'd attacks then use a flying aerial reverse Shield Breaker. It's pretty funny against Jigglypuffs, if you can actually pull it off.

>_>;

Tilts>Aerials on shields. Dtilt or Jab if you are within range of being grabbed. But if you are marth you shouldn't be.

Why would you be attacking their shield? Just stand on the other side of the stage and grab them.

:p
