oh just like I never see some of my best friends unless I take the initiative and say "let's hang out at this specific time, at your place." Literally the only way I can see them. one way. Just annoying is all.

With the exception of bro weekends in Connecticut, all of my friendships are like this.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
lol. Seriously though, I haven't found a good way to talk that sort of issue out so I just don't say anything and cut back on my effort in the friendship to see if they'll pick up the slack. If they don't, it sucks but it usually means they don't value the friendship as much as I need them to for it to be something worthwhile in my life. If they call up and are like, "hey, how come I nevar see you anymore!?" just tell them that you've been busy and tired with **** but that you'd love to hang out if they can come to <insert convenient location for yourself here>.

the insecure ***** in me thinks that if I did this, all my friends would just stop talking to me because they don't really like me. :glare:
:3 But they do like you buddy!

>_> Does the relationship seem like something that would end any time soon?

yea, I understand the feeling, but I guess I just got over it. I think I just told myself that it was better to be a confident guy that no one likes rather than an insecure ***** who no one likes but they're willing to hang out with him anyway since he makes it so dern convenient for them.

I just keep on it. If my friends truly want to hang out, we make it happen. I just reconnected with a kid I knew from back in pre-school that I hadn't seen since I went to college. Turns out he's just getting into the drum and bass scene. I go over to his place, drop like fifty gigs of music on him, we catch up, play Halo, and he may start playing Smash.

Look at the bevy of potential awesome things that can happen when you're persistent.

haha I'm actually a little worried that I come off as an arsehole because I am confident and opinionated and really sarcastic. It's a great combination.

Tone down the sarcasm and you look less like a ****.

A friend at work here apparently wears contacts and she forgot them today and walks in with the most giant hipster glasses ever and I'm just like ಠ_ಠ

sarcasm is my like defining characteristic...I'd be lost without it. LOST.

Ryan, I don't think it's necessarily a matter of them valuing the friendship less than you. Some people really are just lazy/perfectly content to hang out at home all the time, but if you're actually worried that they secretly hate you or whatever, realize that if you bring it up with them, it's likely to backfire when you come off as needy/insecure. Although, I do agree that no friendship is probably better than a one-sided friendship.

Also, intentionally withdrawing would be completely backwards. "None of my friends ever try to hang out with me so I will change this by never trying to hang out with them." wut

as someone who loves my friends but is often very ****ty about contacting most of them, just be candid about it - try to find an appropriate time to bring it up, and just say "hey i'm always the one who calls, you should call more"

if they're like "sorry yes i suck, i'll keep in contact better" it'd be pretty safe to assume they're the same way...if they do the whole "well...i've been busy" routine there's a much larger chance they aren't prioritizing you as high as you are them, and in that case it's your call to make if you want to put the effort in for someone who consciously won't do the same.
