Hey Sherigami.

I accept your money match. However, I might not be able to do it at the arcadian tournament. I will be graduating on the 12th of June, so depending on my post-grad job situation I may not be in LA. However, I am glad to do it at another tourney, maybe the May 15th one?

Hopefully, I get a job in Socal, so pray for me haha. If you guys have any leads on a Chemical Engineering related job, let me know.

Need good opinions please read!

So I know we haven't updated this as briskly as we could have, but there is one thing we're having issues with at the moment.

The Learning Center venue (same as the last SCSA and the upcoming TP5) is $600, but we want to use the upstairs room which is half the size and half the price. The guy in charge says that he doesn't mind fitting 80 people up there, but I know it will be crowded (but not as bad as the last arcadian tourney). If there are over that amount, most likely he will move us downstairs and require us to pay the extra $300.

The reason that we're split right now is because Arcadian #1 pulled over 100 people if you include those who didn't enter. There were exactly 90 entrants for singles. Now I personally don't see a reason as to why that would happen again (or why it even happened in the first place), I've come to think that it was just an anomaly, but in case it does we would definitely be in the negatives (we being Jason and I). So here are the possibilities I have considered:

- Get the smaller venue, hope that it doesn't exceed 80 people (but kind of hope that it does cause more people = better tournament). It will be packed, but it will work out, especially compared to the issues the last tournament had with space.

- Get the smaller venue, charge standard $5 venue fee, but simply ask for donations if we move downstairs and tank the rest of the damage (not a problem if it's like less than $50 total, but who knows)

- Get the smaller venue, charge extra if we get moved downstairs by having everyone go outside and then paying an extra $3 or whatever is necessary to cover it

- Get the bigger venue, charge bigger venue fee (no more than $10, probably between 8-10)

- Charge a flat rate for entry into all events including venue fee (like $15 to enter everything), use the excess money for the pot. I could see this going very wrong however, most likely won't use it but in case anyone likes this idea or works off of it in a good way here it is.

Also I'm slightly worried about TVs but every TO is and it wasn't an issue last time so I have faith in the community this time.

you will probably get more than 80 people unless you have a VERY big reason to believe it was an anomaly -- enough of one to bet $300 on.

go big or go home -- what's the point if the most "success" the tourny can have is 80 cramped people?

you either can afford the venue or you can't imo. if you can then alright. if you can't then higher venue fee (which of course would mean the extra space would be for naught) or don't allow more than 80 people in the room. ez game

obviously everyone is going to answer whatever helps them the most. so that means the lowest venue fee possible and the biggest venue possible. these two are not compatible for your situation. as the to it's your job to make the tough decisions.

yea true. that's usually my philosophy anyway but thanks for the great input

because the higher you make the venue fee the less people you can expect to come. you know smashers...

yeah i was gonna say what P said.you should just raise the venue fee and forget the cheap flakers.its better to have more space and not need it,than to need more space and not have any imo

edit: wow didnt mean to make it sound hella cliche haha
