Todays update is about the previously mentioned, Event Mode, and it’s return. However, just like Adventure Mode, these can be done with a friend. On the Main Event menu, press the 2 player button, and the Co Op Events screen comes up, with a range of new 2p challenges, though ther are less 2p ones than single.

Events can be similar to the one player events….

It’s the same as the 1 player Event, but you’ve got someone playing as Kirby to help!

Or they can be completly different.

Pikachu and Pokemon trainer, vs Pikachu and Pokemon Trainer!

And yes, that it a glimpse at one of Pokemon Trainer’s alt costumes.

One of the other events announced involved coins. Yes, coins.

Ugh. For those who didn’t play Melee, or just don’t remember, Coin mode was one of the rule modes, along with stock (lives) time, and bonus (where you got bonus points for things like using all 4 throws, only facing one way the whole match, ect)

Coin was rarely touched because it just wasn’t very fun. When you died, you lost half your coins, which with the ammount of coins flying around, was enough to set you back a lot, and then when you killed the guy who killed you, theirs went down to about your level. It worked out to be the same as doing Stock, and was rarely used.

Anyway, on a lighter note, to continue with the Co-op goodness, another new Co-op thing, is co-op target test! This was great fun to do in Melee (If you used an Action Replay “cheat” device) and should be a very interesting addition. I look forward to seeing the records set by people. Need to get that target on the other side of the level real fast? Why not smash your friend over there and have him hit it as he flies by?
