Yeeeeees Navy ruins tournament
Pretty much.
They're trying to put me on a ship that deploys at the end of this month. My name got thrown into a hat. I have a 1/5 chance on being picked.

Fml.

It's also expensive and there is a sweet music festival in Richmond on Saturday for the same price.
It's really not expensive compared to other tourneys and if you're from/in the area stop complaining.

Unknown is from Canada and he's coming down.

I'm just more excited to see De la Soul and Yo la Tengo than for smash. Not a complaint, but if somehow I can get to Richmond early maybe I can convince my non-smashing friends to tag along for a bit.

Is this real the best that's going on for this tourney? Is there really no guaranteed live stream?
Wireless internet at the venue is ok, but not really stream quality. Currently the plan is to have the smash event in the 2nd ballroom, where unfortunately there is no access to wired internet. I think that's an OK tradeoff for having the most time/space allocated per gamer of any game in the tournament.

Also, running 2 streams (the 1st one is Sp00ky) is sometimes a dicey proposition at hotels with less the stellar internet.

I'm looking into securing a clearwire line, or possibly using 4G, but right now there's not a guaranteed Smash stream. It's a bandwidth issue, not a preference issue.

If I can secure the bandwidth, one of our local streamers will pick it up for sure.

I have a carload of people lol I don't think we'll all fit.

I meant actual housing not in a hotel room.

I'll probably just have to book for Saturday I guess.

Well me + friend + possibly another are staying with him already, so another car would probably be a little crowded (though I think having 15+ people in one hotel room at Apex was my smash hotel highlight)

Pool assignments will be posted Thursday night, but are not final.
Smash pools will be running all day in waves. Each pool will have about 6 players, 2 TVs. If we have 14 Smash TV's for ex, That would allow 7 pools to be run at once.

Each Pool Set will have 3 hours allotted for the pool.

Again these are tentative.
IF YOU PRE-REG and PRE-PAY, you are AUTOMATICALLY IN THE BRACKET! Depending on your pool assignment (posted on Thursday) this could allow you to be late, hit traffic, whatever.
Pre-Reg ASAP!

Round Robin pools are a given at this point.

What is still subject to change based on attendance is:

1)how many qualify from each pool into a double elim bracket (2 or 3)
2)If non pool winners qualify into the losers side of the bracket

Currently, I'm leaning to having 2 qualify out of each pool, with the 2nd place person going into losers bracket. I have tested this for a total number of 126 entrants and it works for the time/resources/space we have. If 3 qualify, 3rd will definitely be in losers, with 2nd being a possibility.

I also believe attaching more to pool finishing than just seeding prevents collusion that can sometimes occur w/ RR pools.

Before any complaints are lodged, please be aware:

1)This is a consideration and not final. I'm just trying to make sure Round Robin can be done and still have time for it all.
2) This is a multi game tournament
3) Smash is getting by far the most attention when considering Setups/Space/Time allotments compared to any other game at the venue. For example, UMVC3 is slated to run up to 256 people on 16 setups in 4 hours. That's twice as many people on the same # of setups in 33% of the time. Smash gets both days, 12 hrs per day of all Smash. You're welcome ;-)

Second place goes right into losers bracket? What the ****?

:phone:
To get 2nd in a pool, you do need to lose to someone.

Again, it's a consideration in case we need it due to time/space whatever. I'd rather an open discussion that just **** that ***hole.

Also, it prevents possible collusion from guaranteed placers throwing matches to friends in their pools, because they have to put way more at risk for getting 2nd than just seeding.

Anywho, keep up the comments.

Well, to be honest... I'm leaning to 3 people make it out, and 3rd place is in losers. and the 1's and 2's play each other. But good to have options open.

Be thankful for Round Robin!
