Hey guys! The 0ne here!

So pretty much all of you probably picked up Ness in grief of Lucas's absence. Well, now that the blonde kid's back, will you still main Ness? Or at least play him? I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

I mained Lucas in Brawl, and switched to Ness in PM because I didn't like how different he was. After a while, I relearned him in PM. I think Lucas will be my main in Smash 4, or at least as good as Ness is for me. I've played both EarthBound and MOTHER 3, and I love my boys to death equally.

So it all comes down to:

PSI Circles?
OR
PSI Hexagons?

Despite playing and deeply enjoying Earthbound, I don't really care for Ness. I liked Mother 3 the best out of the three games so I'm gonna have to go with the weird pompadour.

I did play Lucas more in Brawl, but I really enjoy Ness so I'm not gonna drop him. I'll just play them side by side.

I uh...

I actually hate Ness. I think he's the weakest (character wise) of the Mother protagonists. If he were ever removed and replaced with Ninten (or Lucas) I would shed not a single tear. I secondaried him in Brawl because I liked how he played better than Marth, but in 4 I kicked Ness out of my top four.

Lucas, however, I will wield in my left hand, while MegaMan I wield in my right.

been playing Ness since the 64, can't turn my back on him now. Lucas is great, and many of his moves are super satisfying to hit with, but Ness is just ingrained in me by this point. Preferably, I don't have to choose between them

Picked hexagons simply because they do look much better.

However, I do like Lucas more than I do Ness. This is because while Ness was a silent protagonist with no real build-up and was just kind of the hero for whatever reason, Lucas had some real character development and a real reason to step up and save the Islands.

I think Lucas' moveset is more interesting, so I'm gonna use him more than I do Ness in Smash 4. I always play as Lucas in Brawl, but I don't play Ness nearly as much as like half the cast, though I like Ness more in Smash Wii U than I do any other Smash. Come on, Lucas! (from nowhere)

You're asking this question on the Lucas boards. Of course people are going to choose Lucas over Ness. Pretty much everyone here is planning on maining or secondarying him, so...

Ness has been my favourite character in smash since 64 but i did play more lucas in brawl than ness - not that that means anything as i thought brawl was trash and played it far less than any other smash entry.

Ill likely "main" both characters is my guess before actually getting my hands on lucas. I dont find it as big of a deal to play multiple characters in sm4sh and will likely just cut down on my long list of "secondaries" to compensate.

I guess you could say im not swoon by my shapes based on the number of verticies.

When I first got Smash 4, I tried my hand with Ness to help fill the void of my lost main, but with time I dropped him. Matches with Ness usually culminate in either a bthrow to win with no trouble, or a lucky hit with one of his strong moves, and that's not satisfying to me. With Lucas I can be much more creative.

Ahaha, I'm such an idiot. I literally thought this was about the shapes for the first day this thread was up. Geometrically, they both have their unique values and advantages. But from a character standpoint, I already "(co)main" a silly amount of characters, so one more couldn't hurt, right?

Ness has a lot of good combos and follow-ups, but games with him can feel a tad formulaic; that's more my fault than it is Ness's, but without the handy PK Fire setup trap I always find myself having to think a little harder.

I like Mother 3 better than Earthbound, and I also vastly prefer how Lucas plays, so yeah easy choice for me.

Ness is great though.

I'm all about that hexagon lifestyle, but I'll keep probably keep playing Ness anyway. I like to have a feel for the whole cast in general, and I think it'll be a bit hard to drop the dude after literal months of using him.

I agree 100%. When I play Smash, I like to be creative and have a freeform playstyle and Ness feels so formulaic. It's not that I don't like him, it just seems to boil down to dthrow to di reads aerial bthrow.
But that's also on me.

I've been a dedicated Ness main since the 64 days, and I have no intentions of changing that; Ness has been, is currently and always will be my roll dog. Lucas, however, will more than likely be my secondary, if not my BnB.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I may have preferred Ness over Lucas in Brawl and I may be a dedicated Ness main in Smash 4, but Mother fan that I am, I'm definitely gonna give Lucas a shot too when he comes out. Who knows, he might become a co-main if I like his playstyle enough.

I used both Lucas and Ness about the same amount in Brawl and I loved using both.
However, I do very much prefer Lucas's moveset overall (esp. USmash and DSmash) and well his hair reminds me of my own hairstyle lol

I love Ness but I just like Mother 3 so much more in story and soundtrack. Also PK Love > PK Rockin IMO, and Hexagons in general are cooler then circles.

I was gonna play Ness and Kirby in Brawl, but liked Lucas so much better he ended up displacing both of them. Now that Lucas is back, I'll probably end up playing Lucas nonstop until He's clocked in more matches than Kirby.
