CNN said:
By Wednesday afternoon, rescuers had winched to the surface more than half of the 33 miners trapped in a northern Chile gold and copper mine, and the world marveled at a "mission incredible."
After 69 harrowing days, the miners ascended to freedom one by one, hoisted through a half-mile of rock in a rescue mission that began in the numbing chill of a desert night and continued under the searing sun of a cloudless day.

So basically ~2 months ago 33 Chilean miners were trapped underground and atm they're working on bringing each miner up. At the time of this post I think they're at 25 men rescued right now.

This story is really emotional when you get to see these men get back to their families. I mean, like the first one really got to me. The guy finally got to see his kid and it was pretty emotional.

Though there were some lol ones as well like the second miner. Guy got out, handed out souvenir rocks and made the crowd chant XD

Tbh, I'm surprised I didn't see this topic sooner considering how much this has been searched on Google (#5 most searched thing atm)

The reason why this isn't getting much attention is because its quite a boring story for everyone not affected by it.

It's like: Mine collapses, miners probably dead, miners found alive and well in the safe part of the mine, wow that's great those guys were really lucky.

Nothing happens for 2 months.

Miners come out of mine.

The end.

I wouldn't call it a boring story. There just isn't any controversy for people to get all self-righteous about.

It is an emotional story though, especially if you watched the footage live. My family has no connection to Chile, but even my mother cheered when the first miner got pulled out and his son started crying.

Well its amazing that they survived until they were found. Once they were found they got 3 square meals a day and pretty much had an alright time, they were just stuck down a mine waiting to be freed but they were in like no danger of dying.

I don't know, man. For me, getting stuck in an elevator for an hour would probably end with me eating the other passengers.

This was a great story.

70 days is insane!
I personally would have gone a bit loopy after 7 days, no natural sunlight, sleeping on rocks lol, shower? bathroom? Little privacy and all guys. Breathing in al that dust, trying to keep myself entertained. Kudos to those guys
