So a few weeks ago I sat in on a presentation by a fellow graduate on the topic of 'Cheese dreams'. Quite a strange thing to give a talk about to fellow academics but its was VERY intruiging and memorable. Basically, studies have shown, alongside countless testimonials/empirical evidence etc, that eating around 30 grams of specific types of cheese before sleeping can induce almost acid-trip style dreams which are also more likely to be remembered.

Random google search on the topic finds such websites detailing this phenomenon.

So after finally remembering to go to the deli here, I went and bought some of the most 'powerful' cheese; Blue Stilton and Cheddar. Studies will say that Stilton is the most potent type with cheddar a relatively distant second. This presentation however went on to discuss the effects of mixing types, and basically, we were told a 60:40 mix of Stilton : Cheddar (roughly 18:12 grams), half an hour before bed, was a stronger mix that stilton alone. Exactly what I plan on doing from now on.

So my internet friends, this blog shall serve as a diary of my mystical cheese-powered dream journeys and a reminder to all here to try this out for themselves. Heres hoping I have some very interesting entries to add tomorrow morning :p

Interesting. Keep us posted on your cheesy dreams. I have a friend who's addicted to cheese quite literally. Now I know why lol. As a matter of fact his nickname is "The Big Cheese."

I didnt remember any of my dreams but i know i had multiple, i had such tiny fragments like remembering i was at school, or driving my car lol. interestingly enough, it was the first day in about 2 weeks where I havent woken up very early.

tonight ill go for the full 30g of stilton and see what happens. it tastes so bad though >_<

I've known about this for a while.

Hence why I occasionally wolf down some fine Irish cheddar before bed!

It doesn't always work, but more often than not it makes you have mad ones.

I do seem to have more lucid dreams after eating pizza for dinner, but do any of those cheeses cause anything? Also I usually eat 5-6 large slices when I eat pizza, so I think I hit the 30gram requirement.

^ :D We should go to Cici's one day and have an eating contest :3. I won by eating 32 pieces.. but that's hardly an accomplishment. Cici's pizza is tiny.

^ It doesn't, but you motivated me to try this out. I want this to work bad. You also taught me cheese did this. :3 That's like, two things today.

I don't really know anymore...
WTF.... tried this last night with some extra sharp cheddar. I don't have dreams that seem drug-induced, but it was still a weird one... I hate redeads even more now...

EDIT: I wonder if you can build a tolerance to this... I really like having dreams like this but if I do it too often, will it not work?
