Because unlike some of us, pretty much every casual would play as them exclusively.I don't see how the Mii will make every addition worthless.

Gary, you know it's really based in if Sakurai puts enough effort, right?I feel like were grasping at straws with the Ridley one.
I think we're all there, at this point. At least, those who think Snake may be in at all.I feel when it comes to Snake and Pac-Man, it's E3 or bust for them. If they're not there, I can't see them being in the game.
I agree. If we don't see a mini trailer for Snake at E3 like what we saw for Sonic I'll stop expecting him at all.I feel when it comes to Snake and Pac-Man, it's E3 or bust for them. If they're not there, I can't see them being in the game.
Honestly I'm fine with either Dixie or K. Rool I only put her cause I like her more. Also Isaac, Chrom and Shulk despite all using swords would play entirely different from each other.A heads up: I'd suggest ordering the characters by franchise horizontally rather than vertically when you have 6 Pokémon reps, it makes it a whole lot more organized instead of having 'Puff be so split from the rest.
I really like the roster though, it's pretty much a best case scenario of the Gematsu leak with the addition of Ridley and Isaac, though I'd personally pick K. Rool over Dixie but that's as always up in the air. I'm not sure if Isaac is a bit too much with both Shulk and Chrom being newcomers, but I don't know enough about him to really justify that claim I feel.
I'm not sure if Lucas, Wolf and Snake need to be cut on top of Ivysaur and Squirtle, but if you insist on having 5 cuts I do think they are the most reasonable to ditch. Otherwise I'd at least keep Wolf.
I'm pretty sure that won't happen unless the Mii has zero learning curve and a very spammable attack.Because unlike some of us, pretty much every casual would play as them exclusively.
Well, judging by how all their games play, that may be the case. :DI'm pretty sure that won't happen unless the Mii has zero learning curve and a very spammable attack.
Nah, you gotta remember that Namco Bandai is involved. I doubt that will be the case.Well, judging by how all their games play, that may be the case. :D
Which interview? The two statements are from different sources. The Melee one is from a 2001 interview and the Brawl one is from a 2008 interview.Answering pretty late, since wasn't around, but thre interview in the original quote was referring to Ness being cut from Melee. There is a reason an information about Ness cut from Brawl isnt around anywhere else, and that's the reason. Now, please, stop spreading disinfo.
That's a really deceptive mentality to have, considering it's highly inconsistent with the characters.Well, judging by how all their games play, that may be the case. :D
(Exactly my point)That's a really deceptive mentality to have, considering it's highly inconsistent with the characters.
Looks like the Mother 2 article on Japanese Wikipedia also talks about this, and is a bit more clear about things. This was under the Brawl header:Which interview? The two statements are from different sources. The Melee one is from a 2001 interview and the Brawl one is from a 2008 interview.
It seems pretty clearly be referring to Brawl, seeing as it first mentions that Lucas is in the game this time around, and then says they were going to scrap Ness due to that. But then Ness got to stay because Mother 3 wasn't released outside Japan.
Which basically confirms what I said.
I think they will work exactly like that, just to put a mii face on every character, like in nintendo land.I still don't the merits of Miis when we have Villager. The only real reason to include them is to have your face in a game, and really, can't we just insert Mii faces on the Villager like we did in Animal Crossing?
I sure hope those don't show up in online matches (as in, literally, you won't see the Mii face. It'll only be that on the player's screen). That sounds so obnoxious otherwise.I think they will work exactly like that, just to put a mii face on every character, like in nintendo land.
They take up a standard slot in Mario Kart 8, so I don't see why he wouldn't here.Mii will be treated as a slot, mostly because it's a Nintendo character(s) and that it's a playable character. Aiming to casuals or not, it's still a character, and it takes up a slot.
I think they will, you cant change a yoshi or DK without changing the whole body and affecting the moveset.I sure hope those don't show up in online matches (as in, literally, you won't see the Mii face. It'll only be that on the player's screen). That sounds so obnoxious otherwise.
And not using a mii online is boring.I think they will, you cant change a yoshi or DK without changing the whole body and affecting the moveset.

Miis are treated as a character, not using a mii online is like not using any other character. And not using a mii online is boring.
wot. Seriously that makes no sense.
Can you even read what is written in said article? It is literally talking about Lucas in DX, which refers to Melee's japanese name, I'm not interpreting it, it's literally what is said. Same goes to your others sources from wikipedia. You really think this kind of information never comes to west when everything else went?Looks like the Mother 2 article on Japanese Wikipedia also talks about this, and is a bit more clear about things. Yes, thats what im saying, and something like that will still be treated as a character in the rest of the game, which means a slot (i guess, is easier to use that way). Namco also tend to use this kind of characters.I'm confused. I thought the initial post meant "You pick Mii, choose an actual character, and then you get that character, their proportions and moveset, just with your face on them." I'm guessing I misinterpreted something?
Edit: If it makes me seem like less of an idiot, I've never seen Nintendo Land so all I had to go on was that post.
Okay, think I got it now. Though, thinking, this might be unlikely as with characters like Charizard, you simply can't change them to fit a Mii head on them without it looking... terrible...Yes, thats what im saying, and something like that will still be treated as a character in the rest of the game, which means a slot (i guess, is easier to use that way). Havent played nintendo land neither, i just see them wearing a samus armour and thought "that would makes sense".

He said WITHOUT them looking terrible.
Yeah, but it hasn't happened like that ever since the first Smash. Would be nice to have it return thoughYou guys realize that a selected character box can animate right?
Wish I could unsee that, so badly.
I think he was just trying to add to the other guy's point that they do in-fact look silly with those costumes. He said WITHOUT them looking terrible.
i know -o-He said WITHOUT them looking terrible.
And just like that, you are my favorite user.He said WITHOUT them looking terrible.
I have to say you made a great argument. I've thought about the whole "violence" issue, but not in the stand point with Timmy. That's something I dislike about society as a whole to be honest. The whole "our son is virtually beating people up" thing. It's a game, but people take it seriously.I'm still not convinced Miis will be playable, for a few simple reasons.
For one, Miis have always been depicted in the least violent situations possible. They are never physically harmed. Look at Find Mii, for example. The worst thing that happens to the Miis is that game is they get scared and run away. They never get attacked. Unless you count Boxing in Wii Sports, which was still the least violent boxing game I've ever seen. So why, after years of such sensitive treatment, would they now be in a game where they can take a sword or a bomb to the face?
Next, as I've said before, there are the privacy problems. I can't see the ultra conservative Nintendo allowing people to use just any Mii face online. How else will they prevent endless me vs. Copyrighted character vs. Hitler vs. Butt-for-a-face dream fights?
Look at how strictly Miiverse is moderated. Check Mii Out Channel died out for a reason. That reason is that people are idiots and they can't be trusted with that much freedom in anonymous, penalty-free environment.
So custom Miis would likely only be allowed in matches between friends, like custom movesets.
Generic Miis with uniform movesets would be the only logical solution, at least online.
Which could happen. But what would be the point? I guess people would still enjoy custom Miis in local matches.
Even so, Nintendo is very image-conscious.
True, this is the game series where Nintendo's mascot can use a baseball bat to knock women and children into lava. But does Nintendo want little Timmy's parents to see him, playing as the devil, knock his sister into the lava with a baseball bat?
I really doubt it. This is the company that killed SwapNote because of the actions of a few.
Yes, that's a rather interesting perspective. Add that onto a couple of pieces of evidence against Miis present in Smash itself, and the Miis start to look rather unlikely.I'm still not convinced Miis will be playable, for a few simple reasons.

This argument is very sound. These are so me of my thoughts on Miis verbatim.I'm still not convinced Miis will be playable, for a few simple reasons.
