So basically; you want Link to be an emotional teenager hesitant to go on his quest, he has to balance his life and the fate of others... he has to leave his girlfriend behind, but he doesn't want to do it because he is conflicted? Self-conscious Link, "Am I really a hero, do I deserve the Triforce of Courage?" The story of how he matures into a responsible adult and regrets decisions from his childhood?
I would support. #GiveLinkFEELINGS
Or the game could pick up several years after where Majora's Mask left off, and Link could spend the entire game talking about his great regret at not being able to save the Deku Butler's son, Darmani, and Mikau, and how it haunted him that he had worn their souls on his face in order to use their powers, and even though that had given him the strength to save Termina, he would ponder endlessly, through monologues, what it had cost.
He could also have a full arsenal of great weapons and items, but refuse to use them at key moments until Zelda telepathically gave him permission.
Near the end of the game, and after much not-so-subtle foreshadowing, Ganon would reveal himself to be the third and final stage of evolution of a mysterious
Pokémon creature that had made appearances throughout the game, and players would be treated to a five-minute cut scene in which Link has a panic attack, rendering him defenseless while Ganon mercilessly beats him, nearly killing him, until a side character sacrifices himself to save Link, providing him with the motivation he needs to fight back. At this point the scene would end and the game would resume.
Also, the entire game would take place in a single castle, with such diverse and interesting magically simulated environments as Jungle World, Ice World, Fire World, Desert World, and Dark Corridor with Flickering Lights World.
