Speaking of Decapre, that is exactly how I think of the Ridley situation.

Withholding character info for half a year just to reveal something underwhelming.

The difference is, I don't think Sakurai would make that mistake, which I why I still hope for Ridley fans.

Possibly, but with Charizard getting carried over from its previous game and Mewtwo not, among everything else regarding Pokemon, a full-trio comeback seems a lot more likely to me.

Charizard is one of, if not the most popular pokemon on the planet. It made sense to bring him back. I kind of figured if Pokemon Trainer got cut that Charizard would be in the game regardless of this. Hes too good to pass up.

Mewtwo was passed up due to time constraints, mainly caused by sonic. He was intended to be in Brawl. So you are right in saying he didnt carry over, but they were for completely different reasons. Mewtwo was not cut, there just wasn't enough time. Charizard was the most popular of the PT trio, so bringing him back made sense.

As long as the possibility for Ridley still exists, I saw absolutely no point of removing him from my desires or my roster. Just like when Toon Link was supposedly deconfirmed.

I was expecting Takamaru, didn't get Takamaru, but still got Takamaru via Greninja.

Teleportation, shurikens, extremely high agility, those were all ideas I had to Takamaru, and I got it in the form of Greninja. Yet I don't feel upset at all, I'm glad those ideas are actually being implemented in some fashion.

As I said in the Ridley thread, for now, I would label him disconfirmed, that way you can't be further dissapointed.
And it would be much more satisfying to actually see him make it.

I felt the exact same way. Besides liking the concept of Takamaru himself, I mainly just wanted a samurai-esque character. Greninja satisfies me in that regard.

I don't think Ridley is deconfirmed, to be honest, I think he's more confirmed than before, since Sakurai didn't actually show us Ridley, meaning that he's probably hiding something we don't know about yet.

Mewtwo: Planned for Brawl.
Lucario: Planned for Brawl.
Sonic: Not Planned, ends up forcing priority and cuts many characters for a very shabby representation.
The fact that Mewtwo is shown being almost complete in Brawl's files strikes this arguement in the jugular.

Yeah, guess it's like the Punch Out stage, it can really be eitherway regardless of Toon Link's presence. Not sure if Mac can only fight in the Punch out version though....

I've said it since Mac was confirmed; this game's solid for me.

Nup. Both were planned for Brawl and Mewtwo almost made it. Lucario didn't replace him anymore than Ivysaur or Meta Knight did.

There's too many actual, canon Ridleys to even make a smart call about it.
Sakurai knows we want it, he's just doing extensive trolling. Kind of like a book.

How do I put this, it's sort of like wanting Donkey Kong Country for Christmas but you instead get Super Metroid. You didn't get what you wanted, but you still feel very satisfied. In fact, my support the character has died down a lot since this reveal. But on a brighter note, at least it will give me priority with focusing on other aspects. Like for example, It'll allow me to try and forge a foundation for the future Greninja metagame, and I can focus more in trying to rally support for Shulk.

It's well understood based upon content on the disc for Brawl that Mewtwo (and Roy) were the victims of time, not Lucario. If any character was responsible for his absence it was Sonic the Hedgehog.

Y'know it's weird, because I pretty much feel the exact same way. It's like I got Takamaru after all, in the form of one of my favorite Pokemon, with water flavor on the weaponry.

Do you need to ask? I think (and hope karma isn't going to bite me in the ass) that he's basically in. As long as Gematsu didn't **** up for some reason.

There was alot pointing to him even without that though. Sakurai obviously has some kind of connection to the series/Monolith Soft.

I couldn't care less due to me never playing his game. However he has a lot of support so if he's in, I'll congratulate his fans!

Wait DLC? What have we been talking about?

Greninja has protean (type changing ability) so technically it can be a grass type.

Greninja seems really badass though. So I'm happy to see him join. At first I thought it was a little weird, thinking that he had too much competition among the other starter Pokemon to be chosen. But his inclusion was a good kind of surprise.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones who want characters based on who they are, rather than how they would play. Greninja is similar to Takamaru, but he's not Takamaru, he's just a frog. I guess that's why I've been disappointed with the newcomers so far, yet still feel very interested in playing as them.

One of the most iconic gen 6 pokemon in my opinion I say he deserves the slot just as long as Mewtwo is also confirmed (which will most likely happen).

One more thing in regards to Ridley...
The beginning of the Direct states that not all content in the game is finalized. What if the Stage Hazard Ridley ends up being another one? The WiiU version with the stage hazard is not coming out till Winter, after all.
