If only people requested 3rd party characters that deserve it... *sigh* (Not counting MM and Sonic in here)

There's several reasons I would find enjoyment in that. Good, surprising classic character, unique moveset that brings something new to SSB, a concept that's become an archetype for fictional characters, and...trolling. "Lots of people have requested Goku, so here he is!"

You know, even if we got a character that didn't originate in a video game or from Nintendo, why would it be Goku? Sure he's popular, but I would think that a more iconic or world-famous character, maybe like Mickey Mouse, would be added first.

But this whole idea of 4th party characters being in Smash is quite ridiculous to begin with. Just imagine the chaos that would ensue if they did have one in. Pretty much every fictional character ever made could become a candidate for Smash, and frankly, that would be a nightmare to deal with, and Smash Bros would just become an unbalanced mess.

Just remember guys, that 4th party is not a real term. ;)
If Sakurai were to add Goku, he would tell them that all other non-videogame requests are off, and tell them this was only a very special situation.

With all this Shadow talk, I feel like I should admit something that probably would shock others a bit.
And no, it is not "I don't support Shadow" although that actually is true, I don't support him.

God Almighty I hate his fanbase. I agree with you. His story and purpose in Sonic Adventure 2 was perfect. He was a great new character introduced to the series and the ending was good. His change in character and his role fit well. . . And then after that, it just went downhill for him. The butt-hurt fans couldn't accept what happened to him so they brought him back with no purpose. Not only that, there's a bunch of Shadow androids running around. Don't get me started on Shadow's game. That was a disgrace to the Sonic Series as a whole as well as Shadow. Seems like they were trying to appeal to 13 year olds that thought him saying a couple of curse words here and there would be so cool.

I kid, I kid. A non video game character would probably kill the idea of Smash Bros. for me... unless it was a Hanafuda character (shoot me, unpopular opinion coming through).

.....pretty sure it was more along the lines of "Hey, this character has proven to be really popular. We can't just let him disappear now...."
Don't get me wrong, the rabid Shadow fanbase is irritating (glad I'm not nearly as bad as them), but they didn't really get rabid until he came back.
