Do you guys think that there will be a notoriously difficult-to-unlock character in this game, similar to Mewtwo in Melee? I think it would be a fun reference to have to do the same exact thing to unlock him this time around.

It'll be Mr. G&W (if they go back to the Melee solution).

Most points out to wario or yoshi and snake is a low chance due to the hideo interview on snake in smash 4

But maybe we will get trolled with a random character or a pokemon character for pokemon battle trozei

And the lowest chance a giga troll and hype with 2 characters in one day

But srsly, Wario's my favorite fictional character. It was irksome to see him so out of character in Brawl.

You and me both. Everything about Wario pissed me off in Smash bros. He didn't even have his trademark shoulder move! Project M, a damn mod, had to put it in!

Why? We got the announcer from Bill Nye The Science Guy in Brawl...

Really? He was the most unhype announcer ever. Seriously, Brawl's narrator was awful.



Anyways, since Mother is confirmed dead and done as a franchise, I wonder if they will ever have hope for another rep if they don't get one this time around. I'm pretty ignorant on Mother, so I can't really say whether it deserves another one or not, but I will admit I'm fine with Ness and Lucas.

How did you even unlock Mewtwo in Melee? I completely forgot. Wasn't one of the ways to leave your game running for twenty some hours or something?

It was 700 matches or 20 hours total of mutiplayer (5 if 4 controllers are in for that long in one match he will fight you after that)

At this point I think we'll just get a random character this month. There is a very, VERY small chance we might get Wario soon.

I don't think Snake needs to be announced soon to be assured his spot. Sakurai may not want to announce him too close to MGS5 so as to not draw attention to other games on other consoles. I could see him being among those revealed at E3, too.

So I'm curious as to the actual battles between unlockables in this game. First, with the removal of the campaign, do you all think that we'll be getting a traditional, Melee-esque style of character unlocks? Also, I had an idea where before every unlock's battle, they would have their own unique, small cutscene. It would just show the character you're about to fight on screen, with their name stamped on as you're about to fight them, similar to how they introduced characters in Brawl. I think this could be a very cool little feature thrown in, and it would certainly give the player a bit more hype before fighting them.

id say unlocking them melee and 64 style is the only way without subspace as long as there isn't a mewtwo style unlock that took forever il have no problem

I'm not really sure we're getting any characters this week. For the most part, we did alright predicting Zelda, Dedede, and Diddy. So unless we actually do get to see Yoshi this month, I can't say I'm banking on anyone showing up. It would be killer to see anyone show up though. Unless, we get some other really interesting news, say like a game mechanic or a stage.

I enjoy seeing stages and what have you. But when we go 3-5 weeks without a character, that's a problem. I don't give two ****s about Yoshi. Any character would have been fine.

And yes, it is perfectly acceptable to find this game disappointing if the right characters aren't in. If Sakurai adds too many off the wall characters, then he's doing it wrong. Yes, characters like Rosalina are acceptable because their movesets are awesome, and they were at least requested. But if Ridley, K.Rool, Mewtwo, Palutena...if they don't get in, what then? 4 of the top characters completely ignored? Is Sakurai still some sort of saint?

Obviously, we have plenty of time for those characters to be revealed. But in my opinion, particularly with veterans, there is simply no reason to have such a drought. If they want consistent hype, it should be 3 weeks at the most.

Especially with characters like Wii Fit Trainer. Who would have any interest in Smash Bros if they didn't know the characters? Stages? I certainly wouldn't. I'm going to buy the game either way, but saying that we shouldn't be upset at characters we want not getting in is foolish. The entire reason people buy this game is because of what is in it. I, as well as many people, are here because of the characters. Gameplay mechanics are great. I like hearing about it. But I would MUCH prefer we get actually exciting character announcements in reasonable time increments.

And I still think all info is made equal.
Sure, some will get more popularity. But there all still gain to the smaller knowledge (like stages, mechanics, eic.)
