Still a better idea than Screwattack's Amiibo ****fight where the loser would have to burn their Amiibo to death. No seriously, something like that exists.

Yes, that's actually a thing. Waste of money? More like a waste of salt and tears in a pointless Smash competition.
Wh-wh-wh-whaaaaaaaaaaa
They're just gonna let Goku win the rematch so all the fans are happy.ScrewAttack love watching the world burn.
If it isn't the massive salt from DeathBattle (Speaking of which... Brace yourselves for next Saturday) or One Minute Melee it's something else.
If Goku wins, people will whine how it was only done to please the Goku fans and rant on Tvtropes Wallbangers. If Superman wins, Goku fans will whine about a rematch being unnecessaryThey're just gonna let Goku win the rematch so all the fans are happy.
And then none of them will be.
goku wins unless it's composite/silver age/prime superman
Not to mention their fights are usually "Oh noes, defeated! Haha, I won the next fight!"You just can't really compare the characters to begin with. One has had hundreds of writers between comics and other media that never stops, and one has had a primary writer for the manga that has a beginning, middle, and end with secondary writers for the anime.
Which is why I'd give the edge to Goku since he's better at fighting stronger opponents than Superman is.Not to mention their fights are usually "Oh noes, defeated! Haha, I won the next fight!"
I'm expecting a bunch of Mario and Peach amiibos in that tournament if that's the case.Yes, that's actually a thing. Waste of money? More like a waste of salt and tears in a pointless Smash competition.
Those sneezes are deadly lol. But yeah, I hated him in that game. For someone who is unfamiliar to his character, it looks like he struggles from schizophrenia.Phoenix Wright is also a problem, like what are we going to get a re-run of MvC3 with him or what?
My third party character is better than yours. And you're missing my point. That is, there is none. I never wanted to argue how anything, I just expressed my want for a Resident Evil character.
Pretty much. Just about any third party we get at this point is a step down from the Fab Five in notability.Seriously though, that's basically what happens with 3rd party "discussions." Well, at least what I've mostly seen.
Then again, are there really any other characters left that have Nintendo history AND are as big of icons as those five?Pretty much. Just about any third party we get at this point is a step down from the Fab Five in notability.
I agree in a general sense, but I don't think that necessarily means we need to force in third parties for the sake of having them. Then again, are there really any other characters left that have Nintendo history AND are as big of icons as those five?
It was going to happen anyway. That's why we're looking at characters who may not be as famous as those five, but are famous enough on their own to warrant an inclusion.
Yeah, I definitely don't want them to add third parties just for the sake for it.I agree in a general sense, but I don't think that necessarily means we need to force in third parties for the sake of having them.
Don't worry, I'm in favor of Rayman. He's a character with significant history and a connection to Nintendo. It'd also be great to have another western character join the battle. But after Rayman, I have a hard time thinking of a character that can reach that sort of status, or close to it. Even Bomberman is generally a niche franchise with lots of little games (though I wouldn't be opposed to Bomberman either).
As someone vaguely familiar with Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright in UMvC3 is a pretty accurate representation of how Phoenix acts when someone is bad at Ace Attorney. Those sneezes are deadly lol. But yeah, I hated him in that game. For someone who is unfamiliar to his character, it looks like he struggles from schizophrenia.
I think you could fudge like... Cloud Strife. I mean, I'd personally rather have him than someone like Black Mage, who is just a glorified drone. To me, if you're gonna represent a third party franchise, they should be represented by an iconic and beloved video game character, not a "rep." The character should be the big deal.Yeah, I definitely don't want them to add third parties just for the sake for it.
Personally, I feel as though Rayman and Snake should be the last third parties added to not just Smash 4, but for the whole Smash series. One of them is a highly requested veteran while the other is a platforming icon, with his series selling over 25 million copies.
However, if they added one more after those two (for 8-Player Smash), it should be Simon Belmont. I would love a fighter that primarily uses the whip.
But in terms of Smash 4, I hope Rayman makes the cut, as well as Snake.
I still rewatch the Snake trailer to this day.Yeah, I dunno. Phoenix Wright was one of my requests for Marvel 3, but the way he was portrayed was just... underwhelming.

(Also Link vs. Cloud would be hype.)
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Snake's reveal in Brawl had the reaction of "Snake is in Smash Bros.!" not "Metal Gear is going to be represented in Smash Bros.!"
My mistake, I apologize. And you're missing my point. That is, there is none. I never wanted to argue how anything, I just expressed my want for a Resident Evil character.
Obligatory Heihachi Final Smash:Snake, Rayman, Bomberman, Simon Belmont, and Heihachi are all deserving of being third party characters in the game. I think Smash 5 should have all 5 of those characters plus the current 4 we have in Smash 4.
Anywhere I can find a list of rules?Yes, that's actually a thing. Waste of money? More like a waste of salt and tears in a pointless Smash competition.
......I wasn't slappedlol "fab five"
three months ago you would've gotten scoffed at for wanting Ryu and slapped for saying he'd be included.
OH HOW THE TIMES CHANGE~
"Ryu is too realistic"lol "fab five"

Yup. Future Alternate Timeline Me said the exact same thing about Cloud Strife.lol "fab five"

I guess we know who our Ubisoft rep will be.Same with Snake and Brawl, really.
So if you're an unexpected third party character and want to be in Smash, wear a bandana.
Rayman has sold more.So...Rayman is considered bigger than Bomberman? The character that had games on every Nintendo platform besides 3DS and Wii U, and even had a game on Virtual Boy (Though, to be fair, Bomberman 3DS was going to be a thing), has existed longer than the Zelda series, had his own anime (multiple anime shows, I believe), was the mascot of Hudson Soft (who actually made games for Nintendo, such as Mario Party), and has starred in more games than a bunch of characters already in Smash 4? Maybe I'm not getting something, but how is Rayman the biggest 3rd party character not in Smash? I mean no disrespect to Rayman, I'm just a little confused. I feel that Bomberman is a little underappreciated in general, so this doesn't surprise me that much.
NOI guess we know who our Ubisoft rep will be.
So characters get in Smash based on the review ratings their games get? I didn't know that. I thought Smash Bros. was a celebration of Nintendo history, not a celebration of good review scores. Bomberman is part of Nintendo history, and is a classic character who's been with Nintendo for a very long time. I think he deserves the spot more than any other 3rd party character.Rayman has sold more.
More critical success too, most Bomberman games get average marks. So basically quality vs. quantity.
Third parties getting in due to their merits in Nintendo's history is way past us. Hell, it never even started with that.So characters get in Smash based on the review ratings their games get? I see. So 3rd party characters usually get in due to how popular they are and not really how much they are relevant to Nintendo. I find this sort of strange, but if that's how Sakurai does things, then oh well. Bomberman was a huge part of my childhood, so I guess he seems bigger in my eyes than most others. I wouldn't mind Rayman, I just prefer Bomberman.Third parties getting in due to their merits in Nintendo's history is way past us. Hell, it never even started with that.
Sakurai said when adding Mega Man to Smash 4 that "I'm not going to add just any third party-character, but Mega Man is definitely in a class of his own." You can interpret from that what you want, but we've already seen that Rayman is on Sakurai's radar with the trophy in Smash. It's a series that has enjoyed strong success both with fans and critics. Bomberman is much more niche in comparison, despite having tons of games, it's never made a big splash in the industry.
I think the only real advantage Bomberman has is more history and a Japanese fanbase. I'm speaking as someone who likes Bomberman more than Rayman.
Same with Snake and Brawl, really.

I'd say popularity + legacy. Having a relationship with Nintendo doesn't hurt, but I don't think it's the end all be all.I see. So 3rd party characters usually get in due to how popular they are and not really how much they are relevant to Nintendo.
Probably because Ryu wasn't that good a choice. I mean, he's definitely the most famous third party character Sakurai could of picked, but he's not all that popular with Nintendo fans and his gimmick isn't as big a deal as Megaman or Shulk's.lol "fab five"

Er, what? Just who exactly are you talking about?\All the "popular" characters have crap moveset potential
