TBH, I would only buy the hypothetical NX version if it was bundled with the NX or it had a Subspace Adventure mode like Brawl along with other things.

Be that as it may (even though after the Palutena trailer Dark Pit became less of an unconventional pick), it shows that you were the closest when predicting characters the majority agreed upon... which kind of begs the question as to why you stand so firmly behind the type of characters you weren't right about on your rosters, i.e. the random/obscure/illogical/"unlikely" ones.

Ten years ago they might've been content just porting Melee to the Wii but now Smash is too big a property for Nintendo not to invest in a totally new iteration, even without Sakurai.

Yeah! If I am supporting an "unlikely" character, I make sure they have some damn good reasons for getting in.

Take Duck Hunt Dog for example.

I proposed him as the most logical choice for the NES Zapper rep since Duck Hunt was bundled with the NES Zapper in the USA.

Duck Hunt was one of the best selling NES games of all time thanks to being bundled with the NES... the same reason Sakurai used to justify such inclusion.

Duck Hunt Dog is one of the most recognizable Nintendo characters in gaming community... and it appears to be the case when Sakurai picked Duck Hunt Dog over Takamaru.

I also suggested an unique moveset involving the dog and duck teaming up like Banjo-Kazooie and breaking the fourth wall to fight with the aid of the person playing with the NES Zapper.

I have my reasons for Captain N but that's for another time.

I cannot say the same for some of Blue's "unlikely" characters.

If I was to consider Smash getting Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem DLC, I would consider either Itsuki or Tsubasa, but here's the rub: Is it Atlus or Intelligent Systems who claims ownership of Itsuki and Tsubasa?

And to be fair, he's basically the main protagonist of the series at this point. Going forward it was supposed to be Matthew, but Isaac's got the most important role story-wise in the series right now. Which I can't say for spoiler reasons, but regardless, due to said reasons he'd also -have- to appear in the next Golden Sun game assuming one was made.

Thatd be ideal in my mind. His appearance in Brawl was a bit cartoony-y and maybe...chibi? He'd look grand with an amalgamated look.

What do you guys think of a Pokemon Trainer with Charmander, Bulbasuar, and Squirtle? Bulbasaur would have Ivysaur's moveset and obviously Charmander would be a new character. And not only that, but all the M/F Trainers from all the mainline Pokemon games as alts (along with appropriate color changes for the Pokemon themselves).

Literally the only way Captain N/Captain Nintendo is getting in Smash is if he's completely retooled to where he's basically a Smash original character while based on the old Nintendo Power narrative.
That means no "Captain N" nor the title of "Game Master". He's "Captain Nintendo". His name isn't "Kevin Keene", it's "Brett Randalls". He's not a teenage gamer that randomly gets sucked into some bizarro world of Nintendo (and Capcom and Konami), he's an employee of Nintendo that gained the power to give life to Nintendo characters and items after an explosion caused by an experimental "organic" game pak (though he's still a gamer; can't tell if he's a teenager or young adult).

And even then, the odds are extremely low.

Lay off the sarcasm bruh. I'm just saying, that visually he's depicted better in the game's official artwork than in Brawl. It be great if in the case of his inclusion, he'd be modeled more closely to the artwork.

Brawl's problem was Isaac was a cartoony looking character in a more realistic looking game.
He'd fit so much better in Smash 4 which is more cartoony than Brawl.

There are cartoony characters, but in terms of colors it's more cartoony than Brawl as well.

I'd rather have an Isaac that looks like a cross between these two:

Think like this: I'd rather have Marth look more like he is now than his in-game model in Awakening/Fates.

Or, I'd much rather have a Yu Narukami that looks like Yu in cutscenes or the artwork, but not his chibi-esque in-game model.

I thought Isaac looked fine in Brawl but I'd have nothing against an amalgamated look.

Though I doubt we'd get one if Matthew was an alt.

Because I always thought we were going to get some characters the majority wouldn't predict, always had that gut feeling since Wii Fit Trainer's reveal. The notion was correct, though they weren't the unlikely ones that I was betting though. In hindsight, I shouldn't have betted on characters like Harry or AR Man with them being extremely minor in Nintendo's history.

I gave up with those types of characters around Robin's reveal. Though I still stood for Sable because I didn't think Mac would be considered the first of the two retro characters (since his game was revived) we were getting until the Miiverse pic came. That was the last unlikely non-leaked character I betted on.

I learned so much from pre-speculation to not bet on those guys again. I'm more cautious which unlikely choices I choose this time. I'm probably more firm now that you responded to me.

It's all down to preferences.
I'd prefer Isaac be based on his design from the first game but wouldn't say no to a well done mix up of his designs.

Yeah. I just want an Isaac styled after the artwork, not the in-game models. His model in Brawl seems more styled after his in-game model.

Altus designed the two, so they own full rights of the characters. I can see them choosing Itsuko since he's the main playable character, though Tsubasa would be much more unique due to being a lancer. The surprising thing about the two is that they have little to no ballot support, even less than Corrin/Kamui.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that people are hyped about Fates while Megaten Emblem just has a broken base for being typical animu J-Pop bait (which is even more ironic given the direction Fates is heading with the recent news and spoilers). It's even surprising that not a single person even bothered making a support thread for them here. I can see people warming up to the game and characters themselves once we see another more straight forward trailer or get more gameplay of it.

That's really long...

Honestly a rival system isn't really necessary. It's not like it'd add anything special to the game. Maybe throw a rival stage into Classic mode.
