I'm very old school in my Smash wants, so I think

would be my choice if we ever got a third playable Capcom character. He has arcade, NES, and SNES cred, and Sir Arthur has a move set that's seemingly made for Smash. Also, I'd really love to see him and Simon Belmont in the same game at some point.

I'm surprised I don't see these two mentioned more frequently as well.

Also, if we are talking about GIANT Capcom franchises that are important to Nintendo, than you are talking about Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunter has been exclusive to Nintendo for a while, and look at this list of Capcom's top 5 best selling franchises

  • Resident Evil - 61 million units.
  • Street Fighter - 35 million units.
  • Megaman - 30 million units.
  • Monster Hunter - 28 million units.
  • Devil May Cry - 13 million units.
(These are actual capcom financial numbers)

Those first three franchises have a hell of a head start on Monster Hunter as well.

I highly doubt we will see a third Capcom rep anytime soon, but I thought this was relevant to the conversation at hand.

Arthur would be cool, but he is less popular than Amaterasu. Zero would be cool, and Pheonix Wright is.....Meh.

Phoenix Wright would be awesome, but with Ryu, he's pretty much a pipe dream. He is my favourite Capcom character by a mile though.

Oh yeah, definitely yes.

Especially on the part that Impa is better than Sheik.

It are just trufax nobody can deny.

What? Opinions? No I don't believe in such things. In the terms of Impa vs Sheik, there's only absolutes. And Impa is absolutely better than Sheik.

Do "reps" really and truly matter?

Why does the roster have to come down to a paint-by-numbers scenario where perfectly legitimate characters are denied consideration because they happen to bear the same series icon?

I'm pretty sure Sakurai doesn't divvy up the roster based on rep-rep-repping.

If somebody would like to dispute that, go ahead, and please cite a verifiable source.
But Dankey Kang Country is totally deserving to have as much reps as Maryo and Porkymen since they made much more money than Fur Embrem. These games were huge back in the day and sold even more than the average Fur Embrem series before it was cool.

This is why Sakurai needs to focus his bias on that series and add a fair amount of characters to make it fair. King K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and the real shoo-in Brash the Bear needs to be playable in the end. No exceptions, no questions asked.

:troll:
You absolutely did not need that troll face.

That was hysterical of its own accord.

The word of the day is: no.
Yep. Wait...
lol.
I'm not a fan of visual novels either, but I really want to play AA. Maybe because FE14 can be a visual novel with Pheonix mode on
I get stuck in these types of games way too easily.

Arthur has a better over all legacy and larger franchise sales than Amaterasu, but Amaterasu is much more relevant due to her recency. Ghost N Goblins hasn't received a true main line game since the the 16-bit era, although we have seen a few remixes and remakes since then (the PSP version most notably.) We did see the Maximo games on the PS2, but they're more spin offs than anything.

Not that I don't think Okami is a great franchise, mind you, I just personally prefer Arthur as he is the type of classic platforming character I love seeing in Smash.

Whatever happened to Maximo by the way? Those games were fairly decent.

Okami was the Wii's best Zelda game, likewise as StarFox Adventures was the GameCube's best Zelda games. Conclusion: Zelda is better with a canine protagonist, unless the actual Legend of Zelda does it, because Wolf Link sucks battyhole.

Even if you didn't like Wind Waker and TP.

Zelda Four Swords Adventures beats out Star Fox: Escort a Brain-Dead Dinosaur the Video Game.

Star Fox Adventures was a very "paint by numbers" adventure game.

1: Ew.
2: He does not! Wolf Link was awesome! At least he wasn't a freaking pink bunny!

Star Fox Adventures holds a special place in our hearts. It's the only Rare Nintendo game not constantly praised

I've not heard anyone compliment Battletoads on anything more than being a great definition of "Nintendo Hard"

Edit: Or the forgotten N64 Rare Title

No I really liked Wind Waker but it clearly has it's flaws. I even consider Wind Waker the best 3D Zelda game to be honest, but StarFox Adventures just holds that special place in my heart because of reasons.

Conker's Pocket Tales was amazing for me till I got stuck on that one island full of minigames I cannot beat. Stupid ****ing Honker... He was the true villain of the game all along!

Correction: Only Nintendo Rare game to get bashed
To be fair it's because it's another Nuts & Bolts scenario where it is tied to an IP it PROBABLY shouldn't have been (originally was just going to be Dinosaur Planet) which had a completely different gameplay genre and style.

It's a mediocre game by itself but it's that Sunshine/Kirby's Epic Yarn situation to more of the Nuts & Bolts extent.

But the one thing I'll remember from that game is how Andross had gotten a Jamaican accent out of nowhere. I was still surprised about his voice more than the fact he came out of nowhere (Though Farewell, beloved Falco explains how that happened).

I never really thought of that accent as Jamaican, but now... I cannot unsee! It makes Andross a 1.000 times more awesome to. Maybe even 1.003 times. Whoa? 1.003? YES!

All this stuff about Ganon...

I know some peeps like @ A Distant Demon A Distant Demon and @ Burruni Burruni have wanted him for a long time...

But it honestly feels a bit like a bandwagon.

Which I find weird because Ganon is a constant.

What brought this sudden surge of discussion?

I mean Impa has been a popular pick since Skyward Sword.

Tingle since he's been born. Cuz he's too sexy.

Midna and Ghirahim since their respective debuts.

And Young Link since Melee. :younglinkmelee:

What happened with Ganon? It basically came out of no-where. The dude isn't very popular as a smash request (Impa, Young Link and Midna and Ghirahim all beat him in polls) and he's always had relevancy so there's no real reason for a big spike....

Don't get me wrong, Ganon would be neat (prefer Impa though, base @ Diddy Kong Diddy Kong you converted me), but this feels a bit odd.
For my money, I've been hearing discussion about Ganon since pre-Brawl. Personally, I was reading this thread, and having had the idea before of a second Ganon on the roster to complement the second Link and Zelda, for some reason pig Ganon never occurred to me, despite the fact that he is visually 100% distinct from Dorf, and has a lot to offer in gameplay that most characters don't (heavyweight magic user with a trident? Yes please!). Now I'm a believer, and I can definitely see myself pushing for him in 5mash if K. Rool gets announced as DLC.

I think implicating a character's support comes from "bandwagoning" is really selling them short.
I also think that saying that Ganon's support comes from bandwagoning then praising Impa is extremely ironic.
I don't really like to accuse supporters of any character as "bandwagoners" as I actually find that to be quite disrespectful and rude towards the people who support them in my opinion, especially if said supporters really wanted said character in the games. :/

Kinda like how some people used to call others "delusional" and whatnot if they disagreed with certain things.

Isn't the whole point of gaining support for a character to have others join the bandwagon?
