I'm in agreement as well. Ryu, Wolf, and one Nintendo newcomer. Pls be K. Rool or Isaac. :D
In all honesty I don't expect the likes of King K. Rool or Isaac to get in without the assistance of the Ballot. King K. Rool has mostly been ignored & the last Golden Sun game bombed hard. In my opinion, if we're getting anyone outside of the ballot, it'll either be the Chorus Kids (we know that we were supposed to get a RH rep) or the Inklings (given how much Nintendo's promoting Splatoon). Of course, that last mystery slot (given that Wolf gets the other one) could go to the ballot character with the most votes that's within reason (I.E. originated from a video game, not from a rival console maker, etc.), but I'd be genuinely shocked if the last slot wasn't for either the Inklings, the Chorus Kids, or the winning reasonable ballot character.

K.Rool hasn't been ignored, a rock structure and Tiki Tong reference K.Rool
Dark Dawn was okay in terms of sales, and it was an okay game
Chorus Kids aren't even the main characters
Inklings got costumes for now, why bother working on Inkling DLC if you aren't going to release it along with Splatoon itself?

...Except those aren't any degree of clone.
Because they don't take up their own slot on the CSS
That's why I put them in tier zero :psycho:

Fixed it since it bothers some people.

"Bombed hard" yet sold better than pretty much any other single title from every other unrepresented series in Smash that isn't Rhythm Heaven or a less than feasible series.

Debatably "Bombed hard" when compared to two previous iterations that each pushed past 1 mil for a handheld RPG. Those are the exceptions to typical commercial performance, not DD.

"Bombed hard" is what S&P2 and W101 did. A JRPG from a smallish series moving a few hundred thousand units on a portable in 2010 isn't anything special, but it's just fine.

That said, I'm in agreement the ballot is Isaac's only real shot of getting in bar a GS4 showing up.

Yeah, sorry, but if it was a choice between Fire Emblem and Banjo-Kazooie...

It's bear and bird season. No survivors.
I find that hard to believe coming from you. I thought you were a hug FE fan. Would you really take Banjo-Kazooie in Smash over not only the absence of staples like Marth and Ike but also the entire existence of the Fire Emblem series in the west?

Oh no, I mean, I would shoot that bear and bird and put my regal sword into their buckshot-ridden corpses.

Sorry, Rare fans and fanettes, but it's all about dat Emblem for me~ ;3

Here's a fun topic. Which represented franchise in Smash do you guys think has the coolest looking characters? Even though I'm a HUGE Zelda fan and love Link, ever since I unlocked Marth and Roy in Melee, the Fire Emblem characters have always held a special place in my heart. Just look at them. They're so damn beautiful.

That's actually a neat question, I might have to go with pokemon though, as there are lots of different appealing designs

I feel I'm going to be a minority, but G&W.

It's the closest of the artstyle I love the most out of the whole game, the only one that would have been closer is Paper Mario.

But honestly, the question would have been quite hard without him....they all look cool, I would be tempted to say Zelda because link and Toon link :)

Kid Icarus.

The characters' designs are very interesting and full of intricate details. Yes, even Dark Pit.

Star Fox.
The designs are what gravitated me towards them. Falco in particular was the character that caught me interest the most, if I wasn't using Mewtwo in Melee or Smash 4, I'd be using Falco. (And Space Waifu in Smash 4 but y'know.)
And Wolf just being a complete ****ing boss all around.

For some reason, I kinda like Palutena's 3DS design more than her Wii U design.....

I think the Fire Emblem characters look indeed great. Jigglypuff and Pikachu look very expressive and adorable too. And Toon Link, Ness and Villager look very fun designed. c:

..I'm just gonna ask this.
Was anyone else disappointed with this reveal of a Smashified character?
I mean, I respect the Mother 4 fan game staff for trying to pick up where Creatures has said they have no need on touching the series again (at least, Itoi did)... but it was a very lackluster actual character because he IS limited to a fan game of a dead series.

Honestly, it's like Smashified isn't about Nintendo characters, the first two were third parties, then we got K.Rool and now a fan made character

It's really just glorified fanart. It doesn't really affect anything.
Also the series is concluded, not dead.

Yeah actually. I mean there were other mother (other m. Heh) options like porky masked man kumatora etc and they went with. . . A character from a fan game not even released.

kind of dissapointing.

Yeah in the end, it's just fan art. Very well made art. But fan art just the same.....

I do agree though that I would kinda like to see some more Nintendo characters (Or some canon Mother characters at least) getting "Smashified" but oh well..... =T

1) It just came off really off to me. Yes we have /4/ Smashified 3rd Party characters if we count Omni's work of Klonoa and Rayman. But the fact is that this is a character that is from a fan game still in the works just seems really odd.
2) Dead on the grounds that it has come to an end by choice of the designer. One that died peacefully in its sleep from old age. There is ground that one day it may be brought back but it has reached a conclusion. I'm sorry if my wording came off a bit roughly.

If we ever get another Earthbound game it'd likely be a remake
Not gonna happen.
But on the subject of MOTHER 4, there are some pretty neat fangames out there and some that are yet to be completed. Some really nice fan hacks too.

Well the fandom will certainly be lively until there's an official MOTHER 3 translation...
Better than being a walking zombie kept alive by Smash like Captain Falcon. I don't even care about that series and would love to see a new entry if just to finally please the F-Zero crowd. Besides, that series soundtrack is metal, so that's pretty cool.

Someone preferring a franchise other than Banjo Kazooie? How Rare
Hey, I feel there are much better franchises from Rare that could work for Smash like Battletoads, Jet Force Gemini and Killer Instinct AKA my childhood.

I love that new KI and hoping for a new Battletoads

1) F-Zero's last title came out 3 years in the US before Mother 3's only release.
2) While on the life support of Smash, :4falcon: has been used through NintendoLand and Mario Kart 8 to keep him present while fans eagerly wait each year for the next title.

Both have their issues, but the major difference is F-Zero is being used outside of Smash and Nintendo has at least showed interest on using him in the future while being massive teases about it.

Sonic.

Not only is he my favorite video game character, but he's my favorite character of all-time in media as a whole. He has a very cool design to him.

I'm biased, but I'd say Fire Emblem for me. The basic design used for Marth, Ike, and Lucina is pretty cool, but I simply love Robin's design. That cloak is awesome.

Fire Emblem. Considering she's a bit lacking in other regards Lucina's design is 75% of the reason I think she's so damn cool. Robin is Robin and they look cool to and have a great palette.
Ike's redesign fits him perfectly while also being awesome.
Also, yes, Marth and Roy's character designs were really exciting in Melee.

Donkey Kong. I love wild animals and nature in general, so the idea of taking mostly real species and giving them personal articles of clothing or weapons and exaggerated cartoony traits really appeals to me. Every character looks and feels distinct, both within the context of the series and among Nintendo characters as a whole.
