Pokemon is a series that is one of the hardest to predict which character could get in, for me at least.
I don't think we're going to get any more Pokémon DLC.

Outside of Greninja, the Pokémon characters are no-brainers though.

Whatever the flavour of the month Pokemon is.
If Greninja and Lucario are any indication.
"Flavor of the Month" :4lucario:basically was the poster child for Gen 4 with being the only non-Legendary to get a theme based on them at that point and later continued to keep popularity through Gen 5 and alongside :4charizard: and :4mewtwo:were the big poster children for Mega Evolution as a major Pokemon. Zoroark would have been a flavor of the month choice, even Sceptile could be argued due to him being the big candidate from OR/AS and the missing Grass Starter for the trinity. :4jigglypuff: WAS a Flavor of the Month choice based on Japanese popularity (namely due to the anime) who would be easy to make from reusing :4kirby: assets.

And if you forgot the Post-E3 interview, Sakurai stated that :4greninja:was chosen by concept art far before Gen 6 came out because he really liked the design and wanted to make another Ninja character. His popularity from the fans was a coincidence.

I like blaziken. . but i can never imagine him as anything more than a captain falcon clone with charizard's flamethrower. Obviously he could do more but i can never get the though out of my head.

Dont care for any grass starter that isnt :ivysaur:
Because he's a bada** Pokemon.
He fits Smash, can be easily implemented, he wouldn't be similar to :4mewtwo::4lucario:&:4greninja:. Plus he's a popular Pokemon and is only starter that is in the OU banned tier
so he fits and he is popular. no significance to pokemon itself. isnt that the only reason people like characters anymore :troll:

also lol at using a tier list as a reason. thats just plain silly.

Exaggerating for comedic effect. I know why all those characters were chosen.
Also, Greninja was added to promote Gen 6. Otherwise he wouldn't be here. Lucario was probably added for the same reasons though popularity probably was a factor too.

Just to ask, how would Alph be differentiated from Olimar? Would it just be the change of Purple to Rock Pikmin?
Depending on whether your talking clone or semi clone you could either give him slightly modified in damage and knockback non Pikmin attacks or completely new non Pikmin attacks (so changes to his neutral, side tilt, up tilt, down tilt, dash attack neutral air, ledge attack and get up attack)

You could also change Purple and White Pikmin to Rock and Winged Pikmin as previously suggested. Rock Pikmin could do less damage and knockback than Purple's, bounce back after hitting instead of running through there opponent and have greater durability (they are rocks after all) and immunity to 'pitfall attacks' like Donkey Kong's headbutt and Villager's shovel.

Winged Pikmin could have the weakest durability of all Pikmin types, travel the furthest when thrown and make opponents lighter when latched on (which makes air KO's easier to preform)

His final smash could be a reskined version of End of Day using the S.S Drake instead of the Hocotate Ship or maybe have Alph blow his whistle and have Winged Pikmin fly across the screen dropping a barrage of Rock Pikmin on to his foes if you want a unique approach.

I do agree Blaziken would be a pretty great character in Smash. I honestly don't care we already have fire and fighting types.

Overall, I would prefer if they just started adding new characters and not just old characters who didn't make the cut.

Robin over Chrom though.

Oh...Okay...
I guess I'll be on my way.:urg:
I mean the series overall, not just one game of a series. The norm has always been for the series to be rep'd by the main character (or first protagonist of the series like Marth was to FE). Sami could be in the game though she would either have to be included after Andy or as an alt for Andy.

That's something that's really interesting: Does a series have to be "represented" by its main character? I would argue no. I think if they were going to add a character from a series they should just add the most popular or most requested or most unique.

For example... if Resident Evil was a first party series for Nintendo, I could see them going with Wesker over one of the main heroes. Or similar to Playstation All-Stars, using Heihachi from Tekken instead of Jin.

Problem: What if the most popular character is the spoiler-ey character like Seven in Xenoblade?

Resident Evil doesn't really have a "main character". Albert Wesker is as close as you can get to a main character because he's in nearly every game, and mentioned in all the ones he's not in.
That being said, I can't see them picking Wesker over Jill, Leon, etc. unless they badly want a Resident Evil rep for some reason but at the same time don't want guns in the game.

Ah, yes, another fan made rule just waiting to be destroyed! :awesome:
Also Ness is not the first main character of his series so that's two exceptions to your "rule" right there.

"Have to?" No. :pt: was only in one game despite being the playable main character.

The thing is that in games, it is most often the protagonist that is given the most work for a moveset the player uses while a villain is only given a few skills used in a pattern. And often, it's the main character that is more iconic for the game. :4mario: moreso than :4bowser:. :4link: more than :4ganondorf:. :4pikachu:more than :4mewtwo:. So on and so forth. Even secondary characters have their chances before the main face, though. People would argue Chrom is more iconic than :4lucina: or :4robinm::4robinf:. The former got in very late in development due to being an alternate costume and the latter for being more unique in a moveset.

Could you give moveset ideas? I thought a special might possibly cut down certain stats with a look, similar to how we thought Ashley could work, certain styles bring different stats

Basically she'd have good combos but she'd be easy to send off, you'd want to keep on your opponent without them getting back at you
Like a Stylist, go Design them some bruises
And which Ashley are you referring too?

Well the problem with pokemon is that the trainer isn't really the main focus of the series. Pikachu is kind of the face of Pokemon and has appeared as the main character in his own games so he can still kind of be considered a "main character" of sorts.

Except Pikachu has only been the mascot in one game. Sure, he's the franchise mascot, but in the games themselves, Yellow is everything

Warioware, we thought she could potentially inflict a reversed Monado Art by nerfing foes
Oh that makes sense, and here I was wondering how Ashley from Trace Memory could do such a thing,
