This. Fire Emblem is growing, but it's not huge. Hell, if it weren't for Awakening, it would be DOA. Four reps are generally reserved for huge franchises (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon), with Mario sometimes breaking that threshold for being the biggest.
We have no reason to believe that the "threshold" hasn't increased.
Excluding 64, Mario has broken this "threshold" two times out of three. That's hardly "sometimes," that's most of the time.
I'm honestly surprised that some of you think three Fire Emblem characters would be "pushing it." Unless Fire Emblem were to magically get five or more characters I would not consider any amount of characters is pushing it. Except having only Marth. That would be pushing it in the
opposite direction.
I'm going off on a tangent now, but some people care so much about "reps" that it gets rather disheartening. Like each franchise deserves a certain level of recognition and if it reaches a certain level it's as if it's getting more attention than something else.
If Fire Emblem were to get three character that would mean that it's more important than Metroid and just as important as Kirby and Star Fox! It's like saying that Fire Emblem is even close to being as popular as Zelda which only has four! (This is directed towards nobody in particular.)
No...it doesn't mean that at all. The roster we have now doesn't even reflect such ideals, so we have no reason to believe that next roster will.
Now, maybe people are not saying it's
likely, it's only
ideal. Well, I'd argue that it's not. An
ideal roster shouldn't be taking into consideration how each franchise compares to one another. An ideal roster, in my mind, should just have a cast of important and fun-to-use characters.
Yeah, I actually think is pretty weird that all the people here think a Fire Emblem newcomer is extremely likely.
I don't consider it "extremely likely." (Granted, I wouldn't say it's extremely unlikely either.)
I personally don't even care except in the case that the next character were to be Anna...which is unlikely, so I remain indifferent.
I can accept one's thoughts on the ideas of whether or not it's
likely. Just don't go around saying that it
shouldn't happen because Fire Emblem isn't important enough or big enough or whatever.
