Both Charizard (Vet) and Lucina (clone) in a way are things we've seen before but with new twists to go along with them, hence why they both get banners, and are shown quite early in a dual-trailer. Even ZSS and Sheik technically got banners as well, they just weren't shown off as much I think because their other versions (Samus and Zelda) were already revealed.

To be fair, I'd rather have Ganondorf's Final Smash be an actual transformation, instead of just an attack.

Every character had banners in the April Direct, even the ones that were already confirmed beforehand. Heck, the ones that were discussed in greater detail specifically had their banners pop up twice. It wasn't at all shocking then, considering that the Pokémon trailer was clearly planned specifically for this particular Direct, that Charizard would get a banner of his own as if he were a newcomer.

If you guys actually rewatched the April Direct, you would have known this.

Pig Ganon is my favorite Zelda villain. I think could carry over well as a heavyweight and heavens knows we haven't had a trident user before. They can mix and match his powers from past games. LTTP Ganon had nice command over fire, while Seasons/Ages one had more traditional powers like energy blasts being expelled from the mouth and hands. Both had teleportation abilities. Just combine their skills and improvise for the rest of the stuff like normal attacks and grabs. I would prefer that over any version of Ganondorf, tbh.

Not sure if it is visible as it is extremely small, doubtful; however, Saturn believes that "Rhythm Girl" is more likely to appear than Marshal. I suppose Sakurai does certainly enjoy those female characters.

I agree with that sentiment, I feel as though characters such as Dr. Mario, Dixie Kong, or perhaps even Toon Zelda to an extent are more rational as there is feasible precedent to support their inclusion. Galacta Knight seems unwarranted, personally. I would rather see Waddle Dee as a Kirby Clone without the ability to "suck" to be honest.

Hmm.... I suppose I can see something like this happening. Not sure about Galacta Knight though, from what I've heard I think he'd probably work better as an alt for Meta Knight. And I suppose we can expect a Rythm Heaven character who doesn't necessarily has to be the chorus kids so I suppose the Rythm Girl is viable.

Dr. Mario, Toon Zelda and Dixie Kong are possible since they where planned before so I can see at least one or two of them making it in...

That's just my view I guess... 54 (with Mii fighters together) is around the realm of possibility I guess if we factor in a few semi clones and all...

Donkey Kong Stage, Kirby Stage, and Star Fox Stage.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything, and even if one of these stages were revealed before, it doesn't mean that series won't get a newcomer. Such as Robin and Lucina being shown after Coliseum was revealed.

My main point is, do you think that none of these stages are shown yet because they would be revealed with a character?

I wanted to bring this up.

A new Assist trophy, character, or stage yet? I don't think so. They have to have something big stored, so for these early months they've had to have lesser hype in prep for their big reveal.

Fire Emblem and Zelda already have four characters confirmed (and Saturn was not insinuating that there would be another Fire Emblem character), so I am not sure why that franchise was used in the comparison; however, I would assert that there is no correlation between Metriod and any of those series.

I'm saying that he didn't have any backstory.

Ghirahim is the most ideal "fabulous" character. I do not believe that his back-story, or lack thereof is relevant as most Nintendo characters are not the most compelling in terms of "character development" as is. It is more about his rich personality that would offer something somewhat reminiscent of "unique." However, I suppose Palutena was supposed to do the very same and that never actualized. Regardless, I predominantly support him for his observable move-set potential more so than what he offers as a character.

I agree. Sakurai said that she was a last minute decision and got lucky.

So I don't expect any newcomers that are clones.

I know. But, FE got to 4 characters with this game. His roster said that Zelda would get another. Then Metroid gets 0 newcomers. I just can't believe that With Smash 4 we would have FE and Zelda with 4 and 6 without Metroid getting to 3.

Which, is my prediction, FE 4 (Confirmed), Zelda 6 (Ghirahim), Metroid 3 (Ridley)

I just think it was just a weird trailer oversight.

Something that's been bugging me.

Do you guys think that there will even be unlockable characters in the game?

We know about unlockable characters from the previous games than the starter characters from Brawl.

We know of Lucario, Marth, Luigi, Sonic, Captain Falcon, and Toon Link.

While we still don't know about Meta Knight, Wario, Lucas, and Ice Climbers.

I would be surprised if they decided to flip the entire roster when it came to starter characters. What does everyone else think?

One of the most stubborn, hot headed users who gets into fights with nearly everyone. Plus he is doing the EXACT same thing on another site which I'm annoyed with.

Only ones I'm honestly not sure about are Doc, Telda, and Galatic Knight. GK and Doc can easily work as alt attires for Mario/MK while Telda might end up being AT or something.

I dunno, at least it's a decent roster.
